The list in the poll was just quickly put together. I haven't gone through the time to check the availability so please keep that in mind before ****ting on the choices.

Anywhoo, despite such divisiveness there seems to be one common element in everything. And that's that most (and not all. Even I wouldn't be completely destroyed if he stayed on) just don't think the guy can tell a good story. Even though there are elements that will eventually pay off and all together I feel that in a few year when EVERYTHING is out we'll look back and think "ohhhhh that's what that was" the movie itself is just poorly put together. Scenes placed in weird moments, strange character moments "ring ring ring. Ring ring ring". And this is all coming from someone who liked Luthor and the movie overall.

Justice League 1 is supposed to shoot very soon. However, should WB get cold feet or as I'm sure some here would call it, divine intervention, takes place chances we could lose Snyder just before that kicks into gear and wouldn't you know it but all of a sudden Justice League is moved back and in comes a solo Batman. I personally don't think that is will happen as box office will keep him the chair for another round.

At the very least many of us think that WB will consider a new director for part 2. So who do you pick should, God forbid, an SHH member get the chance to do this :woot: Who fits with Snyder's tone or could at least tweak it slightly but without making it a reboot?

I hate to say it, (not really), but get the guys who do Daredevil. That show is dark and serious but has moments of being lighthearted and you can tell the characters care about each other in their interactions.

Oh and I'd like a director who doesn't throw temper tantrums and smack talk the competition or other more successful movies to try and make his bad ones look good #sorrynotsorry

Off of that list? Matt Reeves. Strong debut in Cloverfield, made a remake to Let the Right One In (which I love) that I also ended up loving, and absolutely crushed it with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. He has a perfect batting average right now.

I'd also love Rian Johnson.

I think this thread has better home in the JL forum, but I see it'll most likely get more traffic here, due to the movie just coming out.

Can't go wrong with George Miller, Affleck, Matt Reeves, Edgar Wright, maybe even give someone like Dan Trachtenberg a shot

George Miller. Let him do a standalone JL reboot, with nothing to do with the Snyderverse.

Let the Snyderverse be the world of "Injustice."

Literally anyone but Nolan.

Affleck is weirdly my first choice because at least he understands what Snyder has done.

That being said, I think if they want to keep that release date, i'd give it to Affleck. He's a better director than Snyder. I have no clue about what his comic preferences are, and what kind of characterizations he likes. But at least I think the story would be better. Also you don't need to have directed a big budget action movie prior to doing JL.

It's not mean to have a thread about replacing a poor director.

Taking a quick look at the list, I'm fairly certain JJ Abrams, George Miller, Affleck, Whedon, Jackson, or GDT are to deep in anything at the moment, correct me if i'm wrong.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Affleck avoids directing a Batman film now. The critical response, the backlash towards Snyder. If the film underperforms on top of all of that? Affleck's already a pretty guarded dude. Opening himself up to this level of scrutiny must petrify him. And after working his ass off to get his career to where it is? What if he feels it's not worth the risk?

that'd absolutely confuse the **** out of the general audience, i think...

Ill take Tommy Wiseau. Just no Snyder is good enough for me.

I think they should do what Justin Lin had to do with Star Trek Into Darkness. If you haven't heard, he's totally ignoring "Magic Blood', and "Khan's transporter", two big plot holes in Star Trek 2, just because they wouldn't make sense moving forward. Or soft reboot like Bryan Singer ignoring past x-men movies to make DOFP work.

I really hope this isn't the case, the one thing everyone seems to agree on is that he should be the one to direct it.

My bad completely forgot to put an "other" choice in the poll :wall:

As well as James Wan.

The sad Affleck video is humorous, but in all seriousness you can see the dude is disappointed.

He already had misgivings about doing another comic book movie after Daredevil. Now the critics have ripped apart BvS, although Ben is the best thing about the film.

Yeah rarely any are saying bad about him.

Hopefully he does his own. I think he will no matter what.

I'd be happy with any of the following (just off the very top of my head): Affleck, George Miller, Jon Favreau, Chris McQuarrie, or Brad Bird. All of these guys can make movies with great action, good performances and real emotion. Sign me up.

I think GDT and Miller are the chummiest directors with WB, that aren't up to anything. However after Pacific Rim I think GDT has been flip flopping on whether he wants to do big budget movies anymore, and last I checked George Miller wanted to take a break from big budget movie before considering another Mad Max movie. Also in the case of GDT his past two movies haven't been big smash hits at the boxoffice, despite getting fairly positive reviews.

He should take a cue from Ryan Reynolds. For him it was 5th time at a comic book movie was the charm. Imagine if he'd given up on comic book movies after GL or RIPD.

Someone who can make a good movie would be a nice start.

Obviously, George Miller is the immediate choice. But given that is unlikely, I would be happy to see someone like Edgar Wright or Duncan Jones or Ridley Scott (also unlikely, but unlike Snyder he's an actual visionary) or even Guillermo del Toro take a crack at it.

Ben Affleck seems obvious, but he wouldn't touch directing these with a 10-foot pole now.

Oh I almost forgot, Drew Goddard would be a perfect choice. He wrote the first two episodes of Daredevil, directed and co-wrote Cabin in the Woods, and wrote The Martian. He has a great sense of humor and an appreciation for great characterization, as well as the darkness thing that DC and its fans really crave.

Great choice DAcrowe. But above all, we need NOT an 'acclaimed' director, or 'visionary, we need someone who likes and respects these characters. They should try a low key director, maybe from the land of TV.
