The Offical thread to Vent if need be.

My vent is that this show has gone on way too long. He should really be on his quest to become superman by now, and hes still stuck in smallville. The only reason the show interests me now is because of the superhero guest stars

I give right answers too.:cmad: :csad:

Avid, why must you always be the popular one.:csad:

And I understand and I agree with you heres what I am saying if they (TPTB) can justify a good reason for Lana to have a child I will be fine with it but to give her a child just to give her a story line is a bad idea. Its like when they made her a witch just so she could have something to do on the show. Because doing this idea puts them in the same boat and I would hate for that to happen because this season I have high hopes for.

So.. why is it only Lana gets the blame for the pregnancy storyline being a contrivance to keep her character in the story? I mean.. someone GETS her pregnant, right? Do they just get a free pass? Or is this just an excuse to keep Lex on the show too?

That argument is making me nuts. It's such a copout. You could say the same thing about any storyline involving just about any character (except Clark).

The witch storyline involved every single character on the show.. including Clark. Remember the stones? You may not have liked the story, but it's SV canon... laid and played. You can use it as an excuse to bash a character you don't like, but don't pretend that it's anything more than that.

Defend what? Lana having Lexod's baby? The hell? WHO here wants that? SHOW me! It's hard enough finding SV fans who want to see Lana even KISS Lex, never less have his love child. Jeeze. :p

Keep in mind that this is probably one of the most ridiculous rumors you'll ever see SV fans run with. I think what you will find are fans that have a deep-seated attachment to certain 'ships. With the exception of a very small minority, nobody is getting what they want - and you know how fans can be when they don't get what they want.

 • The Clanas are BEYOND upset, arguing everything from ratings to the show's original premise to get Clana back together. But Clark ends up with Lois. Clana is DONE. Move on, kids.
 • Chlarkers see Chloe as the "true" Lois Lane, siting bizarre polls as "proof" of what fans want and arguing that such a "twist" would give SV the cache it needs to truly be different. But Lois Lane is on the show. Chlark AINT gonna happen. Give it up, folks!
 • Cloisers want Clark with his "true love," siting the established mythology and the six year run of SV. Lets get to it already, they say. But Lois falls in love with Superman. Hello?! This is SV. Who's Superman?

Therein lies the problem.

Life would be so much more pleasant in SV forums right now if fans would just WAIT till AFTER the episode airs before pissing and moaning about something that aint likely gonna happen anyway. At least the other kid rumor *cough* disseminated from people that had actually read parts of the script. And even if it does happen in SV, give it a chance. Wait and see. Who knows? I'll be the first one haulin' pitchforks at the writers if it's DUMB - and I DEFINITELY don't want to see it go in that direction (NO BABIES ON SV, PLEASE!) - but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt first before tearing the writers a new one.

I'm just have that quality, I guess. :O

Plus I just know the difference between Imps and Nymphs. ;)

Don't worry though Kaboom, you and I have the same thing going for us. Proof of that is what Avid said to you. :D

haha Pat, whatcha gonna do about it!?!:wow: :woot: :cwink:

I think Tom Welling is to blame here for even mentioning the fact that Lex & Lana might have a little bamboni (or w/e the hell that word was) to begin with. Who knows maybe WB asked him to do it to see fans reactions ahead of time

I gotta co-sign on this. I dont think the writers should have to convince a small of number of fans of her relevance on the show. The fact that she's one of the main characters on the show and ít's set in Smallville where Lana resides is enough. Instead it's the flip side, they should be telling the writers how she should be better used and how to make her a credible/likeable character instead of using blind shipper hate.

That is like saying

"Ok guys listen. We have all seen Seven Samurai, but we are going to remake it. With 21 Samurai. What? Of course we are still going to call it Seven Samurai. That is where we are going to make the money. Well the fans will have to except the 14 extra Samurai. They are going to be main characters on this show."

The thing about Lana is that she can't be used in anyway major over the course of 22 episode season and still be credible/likeable. She is important because she is one of the "Stars" of the show, but on the flip side her character is nothing more then a love interest for Clark. No matter how much the show attempts to show her "importance" to Clark, all she ever seems to do is keep getting in the way of the story. She has almost become a roadblock, Clark can't get around. This is also way she has gone through every stereotypical "New age" woman storyline.

As for venting. All I can say is I hope everyone listened to the commentary track on Thirst from the new DVD. It is what we call admitting that you know you have crap storylines, don't care about making them work, and just push out the episode cause you have to get paid.

They admit they pretty much make filler. Bad filler.

Oh and one more thing for the Superone. If they writers aren't suppose to care about those that want Lana "gone", then why, oh why do you suggest that they suggest a way to "fix" her? Considering no one is listening?

2. when you said filter, you meant filler, right?

The Japanese film The Seven Samurai is a pivotal early action film and a lot of the film's innovative action techniques are still used today, apparently.

I haven't seen it either, but the American film The Magnificent Seven is a remake of it...

Yes to number 2. Stayed up all night, meaning I am not all that great with the spelling and grammar.

As to the Seven Samurai. A film by the most famous of Japanese directors, Kurosawa. The story of Seven Samurai hired to protect a village from the evil outlaws who plan to steal everything they grow the following year. The template for all action/adventure films to come after.

If you have seen a Bug's Life, that is pretty much the story. Except with half the running time, no Samurai, and lacking what is possibly the most enjoyable 3 1/2 hours of film ever made.

withe the official description like this

CLARK IS TRAPPED IN THE PHANTOM ZONE WHILE ZOD TAKES OVER LEX’S BODY AND PLOTS TO DESTROY EARTH; JIMMY OLSEN JOINS THE DAILY PLANET — Thrown into the Phantom Zone, a Kryptonian jail created by Jor-El, Clark (Tom Welling) finds himself without powers and surrounded by revenge-seeking criminals sent away by his father. Meanwhile, having taken over Lex’s (Michael Rosenbaum) body, Zod keeps Lana (Kristin Kreuk) captive with a demand to sire him an heir and begins his plans to turn Earth into a Krypton-like planet using the alien ship’s hard drive. After Lois (Erica Durance) and Martha’s (Annette O’Toole) plane crashes near the Fortress of Solitude, Jor-El tells Martha how to kill Zod. Back at the Daily Planet, Chloe (Allison Mack) reunites with an old flame, Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore). John Glover also stars. Steven S. DeKnight wrote the episode directed by James Marshall (#2T7701).

It's not hard to see why some are upset. . . . .

In mythos Lois isnt supposed to know about Superman until he shows up at the planet, maybe rumors, and whispers but nothing concrete. However now she appears to have found the FOS?!?!? and with Martha Kent of all people?!? I know, suspension of disbelief, a show about an alien with super powers, but come on that's a bit much. Especially since those on these boards anyway know where the story is supposed to end up. Maybe the average viewer doesnt but to those who do this can be seen as going a bit far.

The other item I highlighted was the baby rumor. All that does is lend credence to the rumor that Lana "definitely" gets pregnant.

I don't think that's an appropriate analogy. It's more like: "Okay guys, we are going to make a TV show based on Seven Samurai, but since it's a TV show and not a movie there will be changes to characters and storylines, but still preserving the heart and focus of the story.

Actually that sucks too because to compare Superman mythology which has been around for what.. 60-ish years.. and been interpreted in multiple media in many different ways, to a classic Kurasawa movie just doesn't wash. Granted the principles of Seven Samarai have been utilized in many movies, with adaptions to characters and storylines, but they are still their own creative entities - and not meant to be as directly derivative of SS as SV is of Supes mythology.

Without any ryhme or reason they are putting the future wife of Superman near his almightly, "hidden" Fortress of Solitude, for no reason other then they can. It doesn't even make sense for Brainiac to set a course for there, unless he is attempting to help Kal-El.

Zod attempting to sire an heir is also just stupid. Either Lex's body is now Kryptonian in terms of biology (Dumb) and he is shooting Kryptonian fertilizer. Which also means he is pretty much immortal under the yellow sun, and not in anyway in need of a kid right now. Or Lex's biology didn't change, and he couldn't even sire a child of Kryptonian blood.

These are all around idiotic plot devices that they are using to fill up an hour's worth of television instead of giving us the journey of Kal-El back from hell.

And thats the problem you have 60+ years of history going on and they haven't gotten anything right IMO but thats just SV its an elseworld tell and it can make changes because of that I just am wondering how you can really justify this act or move. SV as I said before is a great show and has great actors they just need a better writing staff because they are IMO killing the show and I can see this forum if Lana has a kid becoming like another one when we found this out.

I agree but what can you do. SV is well it is just Smallville and they have been making changes since day one but none of them...well most of them as bad as this. But there is nothing more you can do then sit back and let it happen and thats it.

It isn't about what they change. It is about them figuring out ways to ruin the best possible things. Zod's in town. THAT IS AWESOME!!!!

But instead of the great, earth shattering episode I pray for, I fear it will just be another kick to my head. I try to get back into this show, and every time they just kill the situation.

Thats when you have to look at it and just take SV for what it is instead of what it can be. They usally start off and end each season with such great promises and high hopes then they just kick you in nuts so to speak. Its a matter of now just being happy when they show some progress and just don't do things for the name sake.
