There's already an offical Flash thread and official Flash director thread, but no offical thread for casting. So, obviously, the question is... who should play the title role in the major motion picture adaptation of THE FLASH? I'm just going to assume that the main character will be Wally West (considering they went with modern GL Hal Jordan for Green Lantern).

I'll start by saying that I think either Scott Porter or Jake Gyllenhaal would be amazing the roles. I can also (possibly) see Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Justin Hartley doing a potentially good job.

umm we dont really need a casting thread just yet, when we have the whole flash film discussion thread to talk about casting/characters/story/etc....

No poll there though... except for which version of Flash people want in it. I know I especially (and so do a lot of others) like to see a poll of what actors they want in the role.

ok no problem, i was just pointing out the other flash threads have been going on with casting too and all that. But for me like i said before i doubt we will ever see gosling do a comic book movie, and i still say we are probably going to go with barry being the film flash. it would be a hell of alot easier to start off with him. Then going with wally and ending up doing a merger of the characters. As for film barry i would put him around 27-30 yrs old. So then they could up wally's age just a tad from being a kid/young teen at the start of the comics. To like 17-19 yrs old for film and he could be a supporting character in first film and then lead to the chance of becoming flash in a sequel.

Will someone add Zachary Levi to that list.
Barry Allen/The Flash-Zachary Levi
Iris West-Allen-Jenna Fischer
Wally West-Aaron Johnson
Captain Cold-Timothy Olypahnt
Mirror Master-Mcdonough
Weather Wizard-David Tennant
Zoom-Dominic West

If they wanted to take the easy way out then yeah Barry would be the easiest with Wally being a supporting character. However, if they wanted to do complex, in depth story for the character (which is what I prefer to see when my favorite characters get adapted), it would still be pretty simple. I.e. Go the Batman Begins root with his first big fight accompanied with flashbacks that show how he got the point where he is now (in other words, Barry as "the Ducard character" shown in flashbacks as his Wally's mentor.) Not arguing, just pointing out that it could easily be done either way. Also, it just seems to me that WB is almost insistent on adapting the characters the way they currently are in the comics. They went with Hal for GL and the only thing they didn't like about the Wonder Woman script that they had turned into them was the fact that they had her going to back to her older roots during World War II. They then bought that script so it wouldn't leak and hired the writers to come up with a "more modern story".

i dont see why they cant have barry, and wally and still be a complex film. i jsut would hate to see film be wally and cutting out barry all together, or do merging of characters. cause both have their good points to go with. so we should be able to see both characters happen. Plus if they do have wally they have a option to go with wally at any time in case barry actor did ever not want to do another film.

You should've asked who people want on the poll, thats not that solid of a list

^ Everybody that I put on the poll were people that I've seen suggested by fans on these boards.

The Barry route(I prefer it)
Zachary Levi for Barry.
Aaron Johnson for Wally West.(younger)
If they were going the Wally Route.(close 2nd)
Wally West-Chris Pine
Barry Allen-Patrick Wilson

i would be down for levi. He is a fan of comic books i believe. Plus he was going to be in thor as fendral but then had to drop out since chuck was getting an extended season and all that. So i would love to see him have a shot. I think he would be a nice fit for barry.

I'd go with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, he just seems like he could pull off the seriousness and humor needed for a Flash movie.

Scott Porter as Barry Allen.

And it will be Barry, no doubt. Especially with Johns involved.

Oh how I am going to love looking at the expression on all the argumentive fans' faces when they announce it's Wally. It'll be priceless.

sure that could happen, but with barry back in the comics, and johns on board this current flash project is more likely it will be barry.

Yes.

There's absolutely no reason it would be Wally. He isn't the current Flash in the comics, OR the Flash that Johns would use.

It will be the classic origins with police scientist Barry Allen.

yea its more likely to be barry, but like i said for myself many times. no reason to cut out wally totally. He can be a key supporting player. so we build up both barry and wally up at the same time. Then if/when they want to go with wally they have it all set up.

Which is why I don't like Geoff Johns. Not just with Flash, but the guy's mind is too far back in time. I'd rather have a forward thinking mind.

As for Flash individually, I'd rather see Mark Waid in John's role.

well yea i read that johns does like silver age stuff. But i think with his new position within dc that he has to have a wide open mind on things so its not just one thing over another.

Like I said even with it being Barry I can see it being JGL, he would have to dye his hair and cut it but I could see him in the role...easily.
