The Offical thread to Vent if need be.

I come from a generation where TV is for entertainment purposes and isnt a true reflection on real life.

isnt that sad avid? the only real life most of the kids growing up today know is myspace, grand theft auto, and countless trashmags like YM.

G-d forbid they read a book, the newspaper, watch the news, or have an intelligent opinion that hasnt been force fed by mtv.

p.s. who remembers when mtv actually played music.

to me its the heart of the character thats important. im a HUGE comic fan, and i thought mxy was fine, or would you rather have had a 3 foot tall little person with white hair running aorund smallville. somethings just dont translate.
Then don't use it. I mean if it was someone like Ruin then yea because he has no real hisorty yet but Myx. is a well loved person and should be done right or not at all. Hell even Lois and Clark though they messed him up got the heart of Myx. down and his powers which made you over look some of the other stuff about him.

i had no problems with mxy, and i thought it was fine. in fact i liked the portrayal.

things I hate (strong word) about smallville:

people who say they're done with the forums, only to return a few weeks later with the same shtick

That happens alot around these parts. And yes, hate is a strong word, that I don't use often.

And All-Star, my favorite Mxy is the one from the Animated Series. Gilbert Godried will forever be the character. But Smallville's Mxy wasn't bad, especially for those viewers who don't know the comic interpretation.

And Lois and Clark's Mxy episode was pretty funny.

I understand but thats my point and the point of many comic fans the history and staying true to the history. Let me put it another way in Superman Lives he got his powers from a suit in a can and Lex was a F.B.I. Agent trying to bust Superman. Now if your not a comic fan this might seem fine and you'll be okay with it but if you are a fan of the comic that may seem like an insult to you. Another good example say they took SV and was going to put it on the big screen but instead of Welling they used another Clark and Lex and changed things around and lets say a person who never watched SV goes and sees that movie and thinks thats how SV is that would upset you alittle.

Honestly, no it wouldnt. As long as the story was a good story, their choice of actors was spot on, it would be cool by me.

Now if they had Clark as the bad guy and Lex as the good guy, then I would have a problem with that. However, if Clark was from the moon and Lex was from Spain then I'd be okay with that as long as they kept their true nature's the same.

In the comics Mxy is a creature from the 5th dimension who messes around with people just because he can, especially Superman. Right?

Well in Smallville he was a guy from The Bolkans who messed around with people, because he could, and especially Clark.

I dont know much about the Flash except that he can run really fast. I dont know how he got his powers, Smallville provided a brief explanation, I dont know his real name, Smallville gave him one specific name but provided several others. However, on Smallville he ran really fast and that's the thing that most viewers will take away with them regarding the Flash.

Now with Zod, I agree it would have been better to get another actor to play the part or to even have James Marsters play the role. However, we've got him in Lex for whatever the reasons. Whichever actor plays him though, isnt going to change the fact that he's still going to be the same Zod thats bent on conquering the planet and being the all mighty ruler. I honestly dont see the issue.

That is where I am coming from with people from the comics the only thing they stay true to in SM is the name everything else is twisted so much it is like an insult to me. Thats all I am saying I feel if they are going to use these people atleast do it the right way.

I dont think they twist the characters that much that you cant recognise who they are. They're just opening the storyline up with different interpretations.

If they copied these characters straight out of the comics, then I could see an uproar about how they have no original ideas of their own.

But that's his point isn't it, in his opinion they didn't get the other DC characters right.

So a better question for you would be, "What if they replaced Tom Welling with Morgan Freeman and Michael Rosbaum with The Rock?"

That's kind of an extreme comparison.

I think Tom Welling to Morgan Freeman is comparable with a Norm from the fifth demison and a FES

Oh I have but its just some of the things that have shaken my faith in the show when I think that with all the talent they have they could do much better. I am sorry but they IMO they write him like he is Peter Paker and they have yet to let Clark grew.

Superman Superman, does the things a Kryptonian can
Beats a badguy any size
Squashes them flat, just like flies....:p

On a more serious note, they did give you Alicia.

I had her before SV . :cmad: I had her back when she had her own TV show where she was some kind of Super Ninja. SV just killed her off for no reason then acted like it never happned and she was never a real person :cmad: but I will not go into that.

I feel for you, man.:(

I was upset when they offed her.

I never watched the show she had, didn't even know she had her own show at one point.

I mean she was way more loved then Lana and Chloe and Lois but yet the good ones always die young and people like Lana still get to walk the Earth and treat Clark like mud. :cmad: Sarah Carter >>>>>>>>>>>>> you.

I actually thought Alicia's story was really tragic and I loved how they played Clark being the one that gave her hope to be a good and normal person.

Here was this bright beautiful girl, who had this power she couldnt control, she tried to redeem herself, and no one but Clark gave her the benefit of the doubt. He himself became a little skeptical of her but still tried to find out the truth but it was too late for her and for him.

That's what Clark got from the episode, not to give up on people just because the evidence may say otherwise, although it was kind of ironic that she betrayed him any way.

I can understand why they didnt have him mourn her death in subsequent episodes, they just wanted to move on from it.

:(:(:(:cmad: You are right but I still think they could have shown him be little more hurt then what he was. I mean he married her.

I'm a comic book fan and I didn't really have that much of a problem about how Mxy was portrayed even because just because they said he was from the Bolkans doesn't necessarily mean that he really is from the Bolkans.
Mxy can assume other identities and forms so that's how I interpreted the story. Especially because in some comics Mxy went back in time to Smallville to mess around with Clark before he was Superman. So that was my take on the situation and it was a nice way for them to do it without showing him in his usual form which would look a bit campy in a show that has been void of campyness from day one.
Could they have done it a bit better or maybe explain it alot better ? Hell yeah. But it was a cool episode and I don't think it's worth to riot over it...

That's a good point about the time travelling bit. Good explanation.

Okay I see your a Batman fan so lets go this way you would be okay with it if every Batman movie was based from the 1960's series and Batman and Robin. Where all the suits had rubber nipples and glow in the dark out fits and ice skates in there boots????? Why do you think people caused such an up roar about that movie. I mean I am not saying they have to be perfect but if you are going to use a person with history like that do it right. Iget what your saying about Myx. all I am saying they need to show more respect or do some research atleast.
