The Office Season 7 - - Part 1

I enjoyed seeing Erin in a bathing suit tonight. It was also nice to see her not act mentally ******ed.

The replacement Pam seems to really want Jim. I was expecting her to try to kiss him.

It was okay, the cold open was great with the meatballs. They're really struggling with ideas to do at the office twelve episodes into the eighth season. This was the fourth party episode and fourth episode of them mainly away from the office. Can't wait until the Dundler Mifflin crew go to Universal Studios!

naked creepy Gabe *shudder*

Oh why can't it be 2005/2006 again.... those were simpler and much funnier times at The Office.

You can't go, "oh I wish they did more simpler plots in the office." because then people will accuse them of being unoriginal and/or simply rehashing Michael Scott plots…as they have.

Then if they try to expand and do something completely different people will accuse them of getting away from what the show is supposed to be about.

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

As far as tonights episode, I laughed. That's enough for me.

I hated how they showed Dwight under water. This is supposed to be a documentary crew filming them.

C'mon they gave that up a looooong time ago. I could name dozens of times over the years that the "film crew" had a camera where they shouldn't have.

Indeed. I think the whole documentary thing is just a stylistic choice at this point.

Back and forth on if Erin is just plain ******ed or if she mentally never aged past 12 (at times younger than that). This week's episode it was the latter, for sure.

I know they gave it up a long time ago. It's one of the reasons I don't enjoy the show as much.

I definitely think it is the latter. There has been some implications that Erin is mentally stunted from her childhood (she was bounced around foster homes and what not, right?).

At this point, I watch out of habit more than anything which is sad, because I was one of the few who defended the show in the later years of Michael. Goodbye Michael should have been the series finale, IMO.

At one point, didn't she eat dirt earlier this season? That's "**** your britches" stage at how young they've taken her character mentally. Kevin was never taken that far...although he did scream at Pam's breasts a year or so back.

Missed a bunch of episodes and caught this because I was in between things to do. Robert dropping trou at the pool party (and Ryan and Gabe following suit) was a desperate attempt at getting laughs. Say what you will about the later end of Michael's reign, but I don't recall them ever resorting to that.

Goodbye Michael should have been the series finale, IMO.

This.

Great episode if you ask me, I haven't laughed so much at an episode this season until now.

Watching Parks and Rec last night showed what The Office could be. Paul Rudd should have taken Michael's job. He is tremendous as Bobby Newport on Parks and Rec, playing a character sort of like his role in My Idiot Brother. He could've been a trust fund baby, who is given the job due to him being the son of a Sabre board member. He could've made Michael Scott look like a genius. This type of character could have really breathed some life into the office.

Alternatively, they should've gone with Jason Bateman as a completely dry, serious, business minded character who is surrounded by the insanity that is Dunder-Mifflin Scranton.

At any rate, Andy as the main character really isn't working. It may be because they are plugging him into left over Michael plots (and when they don't do that, they plug he and Erin into left over Jim and Pam plots) but whatever the reason, it just isn't working.

This times 10,000.

Agreed. I don't even have it on my Tivo anymore. It's just like a shell of its former self and everyone looks bored. They should have just ended it last season.

I never said I wished for simpler plots. It doesn't get much simpler than the staff has a pool party. They did back in season two with Jim having a party.
It was just a play on being nostalgic for earlier seasons that were funnier and had more heart.

This show used to be a stop down for me, I wouldn't miss it. Now, I just flip it over to Person of Interest on CBS.

I saw Amenah Kaplan (Val, the warehouse chick) on an AT&T U-Verse commercial. She's not bad to look at.

Since this show should have ended last year with Michael leaving (as many agree) they should end this show in a very sick an twisted way. I think that woman should kiss Jim and Pam ends up seeing it. Kills Jim and that replacement. End series.

Maybe I watch too many dramas.

My idea of a twisted ending was Jason Bateman come in as regional manager. Realize they're all insane/border-line ******ed and get them committed to a mental hospital like out of Cuckoo's Nest.

Would the mental hospital be run by an analrapist?

My twist ending: Michael Scott was the protector of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch. Immediately after leaving for Colorado, everyone in the office was killed. Everything after his departure has been their purgatory.
