i 've just read the first couple of volumes up to issue 46 and was wondering what you guys think of brian azzerellos comics and this one in particular. i know it doesn't garnish much limelight but i believe 100 bullets is a staggeringly fantastic collection of stories.

I've only read two volumes of the series, and it is good, but not fantastic.

i think its one of those comics that u either like or dont there is no middle way i suppose. i'm gonna get up 2 date asap so i can c what happens. btw my favourite character is cole because he's so cool.

wait until you get to the third, hammerhead

I'm a pretty big fan of the series, but I feel it has it's faults. It's lost it's focus, gotten so wrapped up in the conspiracy while leaving the original premise (the briefcase) long behind, when it was one of the most fascinating parts of the series. It's not as awesome as I felt it was when it started, but it is still very very good.

and yeah, Cole's a ****ing hardass

I own some original art from the book, actually

Currently, it's the best ongoing Vertigo series

nah, I'd put Fables ahead of it, and Y as tied

say it aint so? the most fascinating aspect of the comics is the briefcase and the stories behind it. i hope azzerello puts that right:up: yeah i love cole but lonos an intruiging character also;)

btw does any1 know when dc/vertigo plan to release volume 9, my thinking is that they'll release it in the new year (fingers crossed)

Comic funds were a little tight, so I chose Y instead. I might read 100 someday.

I read both of those too... Fables is really close, but it doesn't quite beat it, in my opinion.

in my mind, the only real "contender" for being the best was Transmet, but that series is done.

Y lost it's way just a bit after the "road trip" was over. Plus, Y's "big reveal" pales in comparison to 100 Bullets'.
As for Fables... I'd have to dock some points on that one because of character creation... where 100 Bullet's characters are all very 3 dimensional and nicely fleshed out and unique, they are also entirely original unlike Fables' characters.
It takes a bit more work to come up with a captivating original character than to expound upon an existing character. This also applies to the visual design of the characters.
That's one of the reasons some people feel V for Vendetta is a better work than Watchmen.
Besides all that... when you take into account the art, 100 Bullets easily wins. It has had consistently better art the other two. Mark Buckingham and Pia Guerra have their moments, but Eduardo Risso is consistently better. I don't think anyone put Guerra or Buckingham on their best artists list.

Anyways, I love all 3 titles very much.

amen brother!!! i feel the artwork for 100 bullets is outstanding and v. consistent which is difficult. i also love the originality in the characters that brian creates he seems to always pick the last man/woman thinkable to exact revenge for a just cause. i also love the fact that its incredibally real feel, its like youcould instantanouslywalk in on any scene and believe its happening.

I'd consider Fables the best current Vertigo series, hands down. But that's probably because I have an affinity for the subject matter of Fables, whereas 100 Bullets is a great example of a genre I'm not normally that interested in. I've read the first 3 TPBs twice now, and the 4th volume is next on my reading list. The way Azzarello weaves all of the ongoing mysteries and episodes into each other is incredible. It's rare to find series that have every last detail so perfectly planned out. My favorite story so far is Loop's deal. Graves is one hardcore son of a *****. :D

I really enjoy the 100 Bullets series from Vertigo. It's gritty, hardcore and a bit naughty... I also wanted to read the Azzarello and Risso's arc of Broken City in Batman, haven't yet.

That's kind of random.

:O HAHA i know! Well the reason is is that i'm pretty broke most of the time and I travel to the library a lot to read comics, and those were the ones they had.

I just read vol. 1 over the week.

It was pretty cool I liked the second part of it the best, but the Dizzy thing was okay.

I love Dizzy :O

So I just read 100 Bullets 27, the issue with Joe DiMaggio.

I'm really confused by the ending.... did Graves kill DiMaggio or was he simply placing flowers on Marilyn's grave?

I took as Graves just putting flowers on Marilyn's grave as a solid to DiMaggio.

So, what did everyone think about the latest issue? It's really starting to build up now.
