I think we could do with a quip in the trailer, to show the general audience that Spidey isn't a moody bastard.

I disagree. You can accomplish that through light hearted scenes with Gwen and Peter or Peter and Uncle Ben. You don't need a cheesy joke to do that. Hell, even just have Peter webbing up the petty thug in all those different ways works.

Cheesy joke? I thought you were pro-quips. Lol

And I disagree. I'd rather hear the same quip twice than see a move that Spidey's going to pull on a thug twice.

I am pro-quips, but that doesn't mean Spidey's quips aren't cheesy. I'm all for them within the context of a 2 hour movie that will surely have its moments of light heartedness and seriousness, but a 2 minute trailer is too short to have that going on.

Agreed. Personally, I don't care if they have a quip in the trailer or not because I already know that Spidey is a wise-cracker in the movie. However, the average joe doesn't know and the best way to spread this information is through the trailer. If I have to hear the same one-liner over and over again before the movie comes out so be it, so long as people stop complaining about the movie being as dark as Batman.

There are other ways to do that. Quips are not needed in the trailer. I cringed at Tony Stark's jokes in the trailer because they didn't fit, they were just needlessly corny. However, they'll work in the film because they'll fit within the context of the rest of the scene or story.

Show Spider-Man having some fun with some criminals. Corny jokes don't need to be used to show the light hearted side of the film.

Exactly!

It's just a trailer. The first one established tone, which was quite serious. I'm sure they want to prove otherwise (that it won't be 2 hours of brooding or something silly :funny:) with the next trailer. I think it'd be the best thing ever if they ended the trailer with a few seconds of Spidey quipping at the Lizard or something.

But you are right, there are a lot of ways to show the lighthearted side of this movie... but to show the lighthearted side of the character, a more jokester version of Spidey, it'd be best to do it via quips.

Agreed. I think that should have been in the teaser, since that's one of the things that I felt the Raimi films were lacking.

Who says it would be corny? What if they used the bit where the thief gets in the car and Spidey is already in the back? That didn't come off as cheesy to me. Pretending to sneeze out webbing sounds cheesier in my opinion.

That scene I'd be okay with, which I already stated. I'm talking about the purposely corny, "It's you who's out Gobby. Out of your mind."-esque quips. I'd actually love to see the whole, "Are you a cop?", "Yeah, the guy sitting in the back of a car in a skin tight suit is a cop." dialogue.

I must have missed you saying you'd be okay with that being in the trailer. "It's you who's out Gobby. Out of your mind." is unforgivably cheesy in any context. We don't know how cheesy the quips will be in this movie. So far we know of the car-thief dialogue and the thug with a knife dialogue. Am I forgetting any other bits? Those both sound more sarcastic than corny.

But that "quip" was cringe-worthy. From what we've seen, I don't think Spidey's quips are going to be cringe-worthy in this. At least, I hope not.

I'd prefer Spidey to have a dry sense of humor as opposed to completely awful jokes that fall flat on their ass.

I hope to God it's a dry sense of humor and not the over the top humor we saw in the first 3. I want him to be sarcastic and witty which is why I was stoked about the carjacker scene.

I think that Spider-Man's quips could be a great way to acknowledge the absurdity of superheroes and supervillains without it turning into a comedy. The guy's archenemies are a guy in a Halloween costume riding on a bat-shaped glider carrying a shoulder bag of pumpkin bombs, a fat guy who uses robotic arms to move, and a human/alien hybrid obsessed with him like a psycho ex-girlfriend. The wisecracks write themselves.

Agreed. Spider-Man's sarcastic wit is one of my favorite aspects of the character's personality.

Like someone else said, I really only want something light-hearted (not necessarily quips) just to tell the rest of the audience that Spidey isn't a "moody bastard."

This.

Quips, even good ones, that are taken out of context will come off as possible stupid and/or cringe worthy. I really don't care if they have any in the trailer and it's not really an issue for me either way as I am a fan of Spidey and am familiar with his character. I really don't give a crap about what the "average joe" thinks anyway so I could care less about this trailer proving to people that Spidey is not moody. Why does that even matter? I am looking to enjoy the movie for me...not for someone else.

I am looking for some more web swinging, possibly some combat stuff, and the Lizard in this next trailer. Maybe even more of a hint of the love between Peter and Gwen and possibly some of the hatred coming from Capt George Stacy.

I just read that Columbia Pictures is distributing Tintin, along with Paramount and Nickelodeon Movies . Now I'm pretty sure the trailer will be with Tintin.

The trailer should start with the car thief breaking into some random passerby's car, no music, no sound, just quick cuts. Then he gets in the car for a second, relaxes, and Spidey appears in the backseat joking about how car thieves dress like car thieves, guy freaks out, then the trailer runs like normal. There don't have to be any other quips. I just think this is a good way to introduce the new Spidey quickly and easily in a trailer.

Dragon Tattoo and Tintin are out on the same day.

Also, I really, really, really, really want the trailer to start with whatever the scene was with Dr. Connors in his lab with the video cameras. Maybe after that show the lighthearted carjacking scene.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about the Connors thing. Yeah, that might work better. But now that I think about it, maybe that should be the 3rd trailer. I think the next trailer should be mostly Spidey with a last minute Lizard reveal while the last one should be half and half.

I think that this trailer needs to assert the Lizard as the villain. I mean, Avengers fans have seen Loki and Hulk, by the time the trailer is released, TDKR fans will have seen an entire prologue dedicated to their villain as well as official snaps of Catwoman. It's time for the Lizard to come out of the sewers and play. People know Spider-Man, while he needs to be presented as a new character, a majority of the GA knows jack **** about the Lizard/Connors.

I think they should attach it to both Tintin and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, since Columbia is attached to both films. It's not that far fetched.
