On the one hand I'm thinking stupid-ass X-event because red glasses = Cyke in 99% of cases. On the other hand I'm thinking maybe not because why in the hell would Cyke be carrying a gun? On my secondarily mutated third hand I'm thinking well maybe it's just the extra-stupid kind of X-event that would do just that sort of thing.

The obvious answer is Scott and Jean (green eyes). Of course, that's the obvious answer. The actual answer?

There's no way that X is there for no reason. And, really, after the Astonishing X-Men issue this week, the whole "street detective" thing may not be that far off.

Whoa, they're really pushing Cyclops. I like that. With Ellis's "Cyke is the Best Superhero of the World" thing and now this. And I always though a trench coat would fit him.

Eh, I don't really have the patience for these mystery promos. Someone wake me up when the actual project's been announced.

Oh look another X-Men thing that will have promice and no payout.

Well, if that second pic is Jean, it'll have brought Jean back, at least. Although I'm thinking it may be Rogue instead. There are white streaks in her hair--merely contrast against the black mass of the rest of her hair or actual white streaks like Rogue's? You decide.

I guess they're powerless now, and decide to fight back anyway. With guns. In noir style. I dunno.

Depowering more mutants just a few years after M-Day seems like a surefire way to get everyone on the internet yelling "rehash!"

It's probably an out of continuity tale.

That looks pretty badass, but I'll be disappointed if this has to do with mutants.

It all screams x-men. shame. If someone cool writes it and doesn't bog me down with crappy x-men continuity then I might give it a go.

They all get secondary (tertiary?) mutations that turn them into gun-toting private *****.

Looks like Rogue or Rouge to some.

Some do think it's Rogue:

Not Rouge, though. No one's dumb enough to think it's Rouge.

Meh, the X-Men have been like Spider-Man for me; a franchise bungled for years because of constant attempts to rehash, refresh, or "fix" things that aren't broken.

But it's a vicious Catch-22. There IS something broken that needs to be fixed. The constant "refreshing." Now, I don't think refreshings are always bad. I think Morrison's was needed and his run, IMO, is "my" X-Men. Even though the run was a "reboot" itself, the whole POINT of the run was that the constant retcons, killing people off and bringing them back, didn't interest anybody. That was the underlying theme: Magneto died, came back and... no one cared anymore. And I LOVED that and was saddened when they went and continued the retcons and bringing back people after he left. His run was to talk about those things and get them out of the way so the next people could be new, but alas, it was not to be and now, Morrison's stuff is either ignored/retconned and we're gonna get another "X-Relaunch!!!" probably.

Coming Summer 2009: Frank Miller's X-Men.
