The Official Flash thread

Then they should've had badass stories with Alan Scott and Wildcat. Instead they just had s***ty stories with them.

I think there won't be the same excitement for Barry's return as there was with Hal. Because Barry went out like a champ while Hal, with everything he does went out like a *****.

It's certainly going to be a different situation for me. Because while it was through Hal Jordan I became a Green Lantern, it was through Wally West I became a Flash fan. For the years I've been a Flash fan, Barry has been "the dead Flash". He might as well have been Uncle Ben with superpowers to me. So I do think I might find myself with a greater appreciation of the plight of Kyle fans once Barry comes into centre-stage.

However, my absolute favourite Flash character is neither Barry nor Wally, but Captain Cold. So as long as they don't f*** with him, I'll cope. :cwink:

"I think we're gonna treat Wally with the same level of respect Kyle was treated with the Hal Jordan rebirth."

Aye weep Wally fans. Weep and despair.

I hope everyone everyone got to see this interview too.

"My argument in the discussion always goes back to that these [Hal and Barry] are the two that from which all the other Flashes and Green Lanterns sprung."

You heard it here first: Jay and Alan. Totally not the originals.

Well Jay Garrick is known as The Blash and Alan Scott is *shudder* Sentinel remember?

And it's still a ******** argument considering there was this ******* called Abin Sur who made Hal Green Lantern, and this whole *****fest called the Green Lantern Corps. Jesus ****ing Christ!!!!!!!!!!

Well I think he was talking in terms of them being the original icons, not literally in the story. It's still wrong, just less wronger.

I hope Wally gets a low selling mini making him the most awesome, powerful Flash ever only to be thrown into some random event where all that is taken away from him and given to some dude with a flat top with a funny name like Anus Vat.

what was the length of Barrys tenure? I know Hal Jordan had been there since '59

I think what DiDio means is that both characters, respectively, reached their peaks of popularity with Hal Jordan and Barry Allen....and both characters served twice as long as their predecessors....Ill have to read at least 2 issues of Rebirth before I make a judgment

But Wally's just as popular as Barry at this point. His comic sold well for most of its existence, Barry went out like a champ, Wally grew into the role in some great stories, and everyone was happy except for the hardline psychos who grew up with Barry and therefore refused to accept anyone else. It just so happens that one of those psychos wound up in the Executive Editor chair, unfortunately. :o

yes...goes back to my issue of continuity....what happens if DiDio leaves and someone else wants to come in and make another change...it's bothersome...

Extremely, especially since nothing was ever wrong with Wally. If we'd had Peyer's run without all that Bart nonsense to ruin the series' sales, I bet Wally's comic would still be selling pretty well.

I thought Kid Flash's costume was pimp. His mask was superior.

And please stop calling us psychos, Corp. Just because you were born in the 80's doesn't make you better than us.

:D

the whole sidekick becoming hero is really interesting to me in general. I doubt a change like that would stand anymore. Wally has been one of the only people where it happened smoothly (right?). I personally could see Roy as Green Arrow one day but it will never happen. I think when they started Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis, it would have worked better with Garth graduating (so to speak).

I never said it did. I like Barry. But he had his time in the sun and died really well, and then Wally was built into every bit the hero Barry was through great writing.

If changes can be made and it expands things and make the story better fine...but change for the sake of change seems silly most times....

I think the problem started way back with Alan and Jay. If Hal and Barry had been called the Spectrum and the Streak, none of this **** would be happening today.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

That's probably true. Bloody Julie Schwartz! :cmad:

I'm kidding, of course. I know Schwartz is a sacred cow to many of us.

Change for the sake of regression is a pet peeve of mine.

well DC wrote both Alan Scott and Jay Garrick into retirement....DC aged them....I can respect DC for having "legacy" characters....I don't think Marvel could pull it off...
