If Barry and Wally each have their own monthly Flash titles, it will be veeery interesting to see what the sales of each are like, and try to figure out what it says about the Flash's fandom. Nothing beats a good ol' fanboy sales war.

Since Johns would be writing the Barry one for awhile, I'm sure that one would be the top seller. Unless, I don't know, Morrison or somebody equally as popular took the Wally title

So Max didnt die yet did he? I read the third issue and it doesnt look like he had died just yet.

Yeah, Barry's series will sell better. It's got the big name, the media frenzy of Rebirth at its back, and DC reinforcing the idea that it's the "main" Flash series with Barry taking over Wally's role on the JLA and in every event. Plus, I'll probably enjoy the Wally series more and everything I enjoy traditionally sells like s***.

Yeah, I'm starting to understand how you feel and it frickin' sucks when that happens. People need to buy better comics.
Flash Fact: F**k Barry Allen.
Haha! :woot:

i hope someone awesome like tomasi writes the wally/flash family book

Yeah, about the only way Wally's series would be able to do better is if Alan Moore decided to come back to DC and write it or something around those lines.

I don't know, though, if this situation happened I think the Wally one would at least sell well. I would hope anyway:csad:

Sure, I see it selling pretty well. GLC doesn't do too bad. But I doubt Wally's comic, like GLC, would ever surpass the main series because, again, DC will be sending everyone the clear message that Barry's comic is indeed the main series and Barry is the main Flash, so those who have to choose will likely choose the one they see DC calling more important.

It's funny though, in the grand scheme, GLC has been as, if not more important that GL.

For me it kind of sucks that Wally is more or less being put out to pasture, while Barry gets pushed as "the official Flash" since I like Wally better. But hey, comics move in cycles based on what readers want. There's only so much "pushing" DC can do, because the readers are always going to be the X-factor. I think Barry's series will do well for a while due to the novelty and curiosity of seeing Barry back from the dead and being active in the DCU, but it's also possible that people will eventually get bored of him and gravitate back towards Wally. Only time will tell, but DC has misfired in trying to retire Wally before, so it will be curious to see if his exile from the mainstream sticks this time.

And then, out of nowhere!

Walter West returns.

Also, it seems kind of funny that Wally is getting booted from the mainstream Flash title around the same time Dick Grayson takes over Bruce Wayne's Batman gig. These are both major shifts in status quo that are pissing off a lot of fanboys, so I'm curious to see how long it all lasts. Wally had a 20 year run as The Flash's title character, so are they planning on having Barry be the flash for 20 years before switching to someone else, Wally or otherwise? And what about Batman for that matter? Heck if I know...

He was a cool character. Didn't **** around, that one.

Barry's Flash title will probably be gone by Flash #25 once people get over the hype and realize how boring he is and how difficult it is to write stories for him. Hate to see Wally get demoted, but I have a feeling he'll be back sooner rather than later.

Nope. Sales will probably be good, but even if they're not, Barry's the editorial pick for the Flash mantle so he'll get some kind of push.

No matter how hard they try to push, it's ultimately not DC's decision as to what sells and what doesn't.

No, but the readers are notorious for buying into whatever flavor of the month DC and Marvel really push. Imply to the readers that something is important and they will plunk down their cash for it--maybe not happily if they're the hardcore fans who post litanies of complaints online, but they'll still do it. Every recent event tells us that much.

Considering how people go off saying how boring Hal Jordan is and that book is at 50 issues and one of DC's highest selling titles, I really doubt that.

Far too true I fear:csad:

People were a lot more enthusiastic for Hal's return than they have been for Barry's. I have no delusions that Barry's comic will fail, but I doubt it'll sell quite as high as Hal's series if Johns keeps writing him the way he's done in Rebirth. But if he quickly ditches all the baggage and gets back to writing solid adventures starring Barry the way he did with Hal in the ongoing GL series, I'm sure the sales will be great. Barry fans'll love it and, after the streak of boring Flash comics we had for the past few years, plenty of Wally and Bart fans will hop aboard and appreciate them as good Flash comics.

Barry's book will probably also be better. What are they gonna do with Wally that they haven't already done at this point? Unless they ditch the wife and kids, Wally's kinda been backed into a corner. You really want to read Incredibles again?
