No, I was talking about writers.

Sorry :( . My mistake. I now recognize the other two writers you mention. I've been out of the comic circuit for too long for most of these guys names to ring bells with me.

No, I don't. He said he didn't like sidekicks, and I pointed out that Wally had been one. He said that Wally was different because he took over the mantle. I proved that others (Dick and Donna have both taken their mentor's mantle at one time or another. And for part of the 52 year it looks like Supergirl filled in as Metropolis's protector) I just don't like how people will take a bias against a character just because "they're sidekicks" In my opinion, the Teen Titans series of books (NTT, Titans, TT and Outsiders) have been some of the best written in the last 30 years. One of the employees of my LCS also had an anti-sidekick bias until I introduced him to the Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans series. Most of my favorite characters were sidekicks at one time or another, that doesn't mean they can't be great characters.
Oh I'm sorry that I wasn't 100% clear. I've never worked with special kids before so I may be subconsciously insensitive to their needs. NO ROBIN WILL EVER BE BATMAN FOR A SUBSTANTIAL PERIOD OF TIME. Dick or Tim are not going to be Batman after a Crisis 15 or 20 years from now, and if they are it will be a story gimmick that will not hold for 15 or 20 years like Wally as the Flash. Okay?

Why? Dick has enough character progression in his OWN that he DOESN'T WANT to be Batman. That is far from what that character wants. Wally, even as a kid, WANTED to be the Flash. Most other 'sidekicks' DON'T. Arsenal does not want to be Green Arrow. Was he upset that Conner took the mantle when Ollie died? Yeah, but only because Ollie didn't ask him to do it. If Ollie had, Roy still would have told him no.

Did you get it at Mad City Comics or Gamezilla? 'Cuz when I went to Mad City they didn't have it. :(

I got mine @ Gamezilla yesterday... and they had a few copies left.

They also had a varient cover copy of issue #1 going for 10 bucks.

Do I know you?

What did you ask "Why" for. I just want to know.

I don't care what Dick wants now. Things change, in one fell swoop of a story he could totally see the need to become Batman. But, more importantly, I also mentioned Tim, not just Dick. Okay? And really, I just don't like a kid in a bright red costume hanging around Batman. I don't like a boy version of Superman. I don't like that Supergirl is around because while used to cool effect in Up, Up and Away, it lessens the magnitude of Superman, who should be the last Kryptonian. The only thing on earth that can do what he does.

BUT, The Flash is different, The Flash tale is ingrained with legacy, with younger speedsters taking over the mantle. Not only does it make sense, it offers character progression for the Flash Juniors. I think it is a good idea. Alright? Is that okay with you? I'm not saying that they can't progress as characters without taking over their predecessors' positions, but I myself as an individual like that as an idea and I do not like it when it doesn't happen. Why would a guy like Batman have a teen sidekick if not to replace him eventually? I have not read The Flash in the past but I respect that they are turning Bart into The Flash, rescuing him from what I, me and not you perceive as a static life in TeenRipoffsville - Population: A goddamn bunch.

Stop being so elusive Jake, and tell us how you really feel.

:)

No, I live just outside Moncton, though, and those are the only two major comic stores that I know of in town.

Well, I hated it. Apart from the moments with Jay Garrick, it was yet another post-52 comic that was more interested in sex than adventure.

There's a third one at the corner of Lutz St. & Main St. called The Comic Hunter. It opened up last winter.

The owner is from Charlottetown and has had a long running store there.

He's got great back issue prices.

I have my pull file at Gamezilla though...

:)

Hm, I'll have to check that one out next time I'm in town.

All of my pulls are at Mad City/United and I know the clerks there so I always end up spending an hour in the store just talking to them, but I check out Gamezilla once in a while just for their deals (3 back issues for $1 and more bargains).

I thought you were speaking of artists above. I think it was Mike Barron way back then.
Guice has come a long way since then. He's doing quite well on Aquaman these days.

The first Flash we saw was Jay Garrick, though. :(

Exactly, but maybe its like a loop hole like a real Flash not the old Flash like Alan being Green Lantern but having nothing to do with the GLC.

I don't even understand what you're talking aboot. :(

Me neither, but you know maybe hes referring to Flash's that can tap into the Speedforce which would be every Flash except Jay.

I used to manage Wilkie's for 3 years from 1994 to 1997 until I got back into my engineering field, and then I set up an account at Mad City, which I kept until late last year.

Too many screw ups, too many "damaged" books, charging 60% mark up on books with US prices only, etc... so I switched... especially when enticed with a 25% discount on all books.

I know all the guys that work at all 3 stores, and I still drop by all of them just to see what's going on...

:)

Wally should be The Flash forever! Superman and Batman have always been Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne why do they have to mess up a good comic book:mad:

What? Jay could tap the Speed Force just fine before, and since its "destruction" the only person we've seen tap it is Bart, who's not even a Flash yet.

I've never had any problems at Mad City, myself. In fact, when I told them that Gamezilla was selling the Alex Ross action figure of the Parasite for $14.99 instead of MC's price of $18.99, Steve dropped the price for me to match GZ's and he wondered why I didn't tell him sooner.

What a really, really, really not good comic. Bilson made Bart so damn boring, and Griffin is the most unlikable character I've read in a long time.

I liked him even then. Some of the poses were a bit...odd but the composition was interesting and he took the Flash in a different direction. I had seen speed running drawn the same way for so many years and Guice changed how I looked at it. It wasn't always speed lines or blurred figures, but sometimes he used character position and muscle tension to convey movement. Very neat stuff.

well, #1 wasn't what i was expecting, but it was still....good i guess.
i'll continue with it but it better get alot better very quickly.

It wasn't good, it was terrible in every way. Was there even a redeeming quality? A single one? The cover was cool I guess.

well yeah, it was pretty boring, even for an establishing issue.
The art and the cover were pretty good though.
