Yup, that's exactly what I was talking about they show Iris young which would put it before 241 but in that issue the museum is burnt down (well on fire at least), Inertia is removed from it still in suspended animation, and Iris ages in another speed burst.

Nice joke about slowing down btw

The museum is NOT burned down. I want to emphasize that again. It burns, but it does not burn down. There is absolutely no indication that it burns down completely. Given the rate of reconstruction in the DCU, there's no reason to believe that it suffered serious damage, but was quickly repaired.

The Iris thing is a contradiction, but it has to be addressed somehow. She'll probably de-age by the end of the arc. If push comes to shove, we'll just call that Rogues' Revenge page a bad rendition of what Iris "should" look like.

So has this title ever started to get good or does it still suck?

AND what would you guys say are the top 2 or 3 Flash stories (preferably collected in tpb or HC form)?

The Flash: Return of Barry Allen by Mark Waid :cwink: ,The Flash: Blitz by Johns, and The Flash: Rogue War by Johns. I highly recommend reading Johns run on the Flash starting at Blood Will Run and all away up to Rogue War to really appreciate the trade Blitz. Blitz was my favorite for a reason.

Which is why I said:

That still wouldn't address that Inertia has never been released from suspended animation in 241 but in RR his escape is broadcast on TV.

The writers messed up. Its okay, doesn't kill the stories. I just wanted to know if I missed something that would explain it, perhaps in another book. Now I know it was a mistake (unless they explain it somehow later) and will shrug it off and wait for the next part of the story.

Probably similar to superman Chris Kent situation. Their are stories that take place later then the current event but someone didnt get the memo. Or its just that iris will be fine when this is all over.

Does DC collect it in HC format? Also, did you add that winking emoticon there because Return of Barry Allen really sucks and you're playing some kind of sick joke on me?

There's no contradiction here. Fast Money happens BEFORE Rogues' Revenge. In Fast Money, the Flash Museum is damaged and the never-released Inertia is evacuated from the exhibit. In Fast Money, Iris West (the younger) is aged to death, and presumably de-aged back down to normal. Then, between stories, the Museum is repaired and Inertia is reinstalled. Finally, in Rogues' Revenge, Inertia escapes from the repaired Flash Museum and Iris is still a young girl.

We also know Fast Money happens first because of the Dark Side Club banner on one of the issues. The Dark Side Club banner is used to refer to sightings of the DSC before the events of Final Crisis, kind of like the Countdown to Infinite Crisis tie-in issues from a few years ago.

I tried giving a ****, but I couldn't. I really hope Wally isn't pushed into the background, but eventually, it will happen.

Wow! I hardly EVER read DC comics but I do like a lot of the characters like GL, Batman, NOT Superman, and Flash is my absolute favorite out of all of them.

I actually did read GL: Rebirth and the first year of the GL relaunch and I thought it was great but this-- this is awesome. You can really tell both of those guys are totally excited and ready to give this their all and kick ass, too.

I was JUST thinking about getting some Flash comics, too!

I think my thoughts on Newsarama still apply:

"Bye, Wally. Nice knowing you. I hope you like whatever corner of space Johns deigns to give you in his grand master plan for the DC universe's total return to the Silver Age."

Oh, damn. So you guys don't like this?

I'm a bit out of touch with the DCU but I thought most DC fans would like the GL and Flash rebirth thing because didn't it make the stories/art better for GL and didn't Flash suck anyways and this would mean really good Flash stories now?

I mean, I know DC has more than one Batman book and more than one Supes book and Marvel has like 17 spidey and wolvie books... Why doesn't DC make more than one Flash book, only this would make more sense because it's actually two different characters. Didn't they do that with GL?

It's a bad thing because Mr. Johns takes good well-rounded characters and replaces them with stale old 2d boring things.

The stories he tells around them can easily be done without bringing back dead characters.

I'm excited. I think everyone going "OH NOES WALLYYUYYYY" is overreacting just a tad. Johns lusts for Wally in a way that he never did for Kyle, and even Kyle did well for about two years post-Rebirth.

And, really, Rebirth was a superb story and did very good things for the Green Lanterns; I look forward to what's going to happen with the Flashes.

They carry them in trade format, they haven't come out with a HC omnibus of the Flash.

lol The winking emoticon was used because the ending was awesome and I didn't see it coming, nor do I think people who read it for the first time saw it coming either. I'm not going to ruin it for you.

Flash: Rebirth seems interesting. My question is where will the other speedsters go, and the problem is also that if you overpopulate the Flash world with multiple Flashes, then a Flash doesn't seem as special because their are multiple people using the same mantle. Similar to the idea of their being 3 Batmans roaming gotham (Not that there are, but its the idea of overusing an icon). I'm sure they will go over the legacy of the Flash. And if you notice in Johns' run on the Flash, he limited or at least focused on Wally and none of the other speedsters. He had also mentioned holding off using too many speedsters in an interview he did during his initial Flash run.

I'm interested in seeing how Johns' will make the speedsters different, what makes Wally different than Barry, than Bart, and Jay Garrick. Similar to how in GL:Rebirth, he explained the power ring constructs of John Stewart, Hal, Kyle, and Guy Gardner.

Awesome. Thanks for the recommendations, Kenda!

I'm in total agreement here. Johns wrote Wally for too long to just shelve him.

Oh, well okay, then. You know, I didn't really think that Johns might toss us Wally fans a 2- or 3-year bone before shipping Wally off into Obscurityville. That makes this whole thing a lot more palatable.

I'm pretty sure that's not even remotely close to what I implied.

And Johns never shipped Kyle into Obscurityville. He wrote him horribly when he did get around to writing him, but considering that Kyle was being featured steadily in other books by other writers anyway, it was never Johns' obligation to feature him in Hal's book.

Johns can write a Barry title if Peyer can keep the Wally one.

Regardless of how he goes about doing it, Wally will end up playing second-fiddle to Barry. It's a foregone conclusion. You don't bring back a character who's been dead for twenty years just to have him be a supporter to his ex-sidekick. Johns might not boot Wally out to the far reaches of space like he did with Kyle, and he may not even take every opportunity to show how much better than Wally Barry is like he did with Hal and Kyle, but Wally's role is going to be reduced. If Wally gets his own series, great, I'll read that. But if it's just the one Flash series, that and JLA are pretty clearly going to be Barry's, and without those Wally gets reduced to the same place as Donna Troy--a glorified supporter who is, for all intents and purposes, still basically treated as a second-class version of their ex-mentor.
