Because, you know, people never talk about the merits of people at events. Like funerals, weddings, anniversaries, bah mitzvahs, and welcome back parties.

Unheard of...

:gl: :gl: :gl:
"Hey, you ready for Bob's surprise birthday party?"
"Ready? I'm more than ready. You know, Bob's pretty much the reason I have birthdays."
"What are you talking about, Jeff? Weren't you born a long time before he was? Weren't you having birthdays for decades before he was even a twinkle in his father's eye?"
"Well, yes, that's true, but I'd basically given up on life and had consigned myself to the fires of hell. Halfhearted suicide attempts had become my daily routine. My wife never knew, of course, because she was a slackjawed middle-class suburban imbecile, and I really only married her for her dad's money and her mom's ****. But my life was quickly going off the rails."
"Wow, Jeff. Sounds like it was rough."
"But that's when Bob came along. Bob saved my life from being self-destructive, and worse, boring. There was just something about this kid, it made me want to keep having birthdays, and not kill myself and leave a note that blamed my dimwitted, crusty-box wife so that she might also commit suicide, and with any luck, take the kids with her. I felt reinvigorated by Bob."
"That's right, Sarah. Bob made me want to keep having birthdays too. I was literally about to beat the f***ing gray matter out of my s***-for-brains son, before turning a gun on myself in a tragic murder-suicide, when I got my first call from Bob."
"Me too, Dave! I was preparing to shoot a gun up my own anus to see if it would tickle my brain when Bob knocked on my door!"
"So you see, Sarah? Bill Brasky is a SON OF A BIT--I mean, Bob saved all of our lives, and made us want to keep having birthdays. And now we're all members of his gay harem. And here he comes nowHAPPY BIRTHDAY SURPRISE BOB!"

Preview looks ok, I'll probably check it out in trade form.

Good preview. Some nice artwork by Ethan Van Sciver. I like the line "Wally influenced Barry as much as Barry influenced him."

"NEWS FLASH! DC RELEASES PREVIEW OF COMIC BOOK WHICH CONFIRMS THAT IT WILL MARGINALIZE WALLY WEST! FOR SOME REASON, FANS ACT AS IF THAT ISN'T THE CASE!

In other news, I hate the Hype's policy on capitalization."
I'm certainly not denying that, I'm just ignoring it because I've accepted that it's going to happen. I'm trying to focus on the positives more.

Yeah, I'm trying to do the same. I'm disappointed that Wally West will no longer be the flagship Flash of DC, but I'm not going to hold that against Barry Allen. The way I'm viewing it is, this is a new #1, a new series, and Barry is a "new" character that it's Flash: Rebirth's job to introduce me too. It's a clean slate, and so Barry's going to have to win me over, but I'm not going in willing myself to hate him either.

Oh, I'm still not bothering with Barry's series when that starts up. I'm just tired of constantly b****ing about things. There's so much going wrong with so many comics that if I complained about every little thing, I'd go crazy. So I'm trying to stay positive now.

You've gotta copy the address from the drop-down thing in Photobucket. They even put it in

I like the way VS draws Wally without the mask. He's very distinctive in his imagery. You can pick Wally out without his mask in the middle of a room of heroes.

I've been thinking alot about Wally's new costume. Will it be like his old one but with the colors inverted? Will his hair show with a sort of half mask? Will he have a mask?

Anywho, I think this is bringing a buzz to Wally that he hasn't had since before Bart.

I kinda :dry:ed a little in my mouth at that JSA scene, too.

But y'know, Barry actually did bring forth the silver age and defined post-war superheroics. The comics industry looked like it was gonna poop, and then along came the new Flash. It's not like Johns just pulled that out of thin air.
I thought it was the Fantastic Four that started the Silver Age, not Flash.

I liked how Iris and Jai were there as a visual reminder of how far Wally's come.
That hurt Wally IMO. It seemed like DC tried to make Wally into Barry-lite and it ever clicked since he isn't Barry. Wally has never fully recovered from that mistake. Now with Barry taking over his title it may take years longer to do it. :csad:

I fixed the image you couldn't get to post, dude.

Thanks dude!

And Major, that's the Marvel propaganda machine at work. Barry Allen made superheroes financially viable again with his first appearance in (pretty sure) Showcase.

How does having kids make him Barry-lite? Barry didn't even know he had kids until long after he was dead.

Barry predates them by like five years. Not a lot, but even discounting the date, comic historians generally point to the new mantle of the Flash as the start of the silver age, just as Gwen Stacy was the end of it. Generally. And that's not even looking at DC comics individually.

Thanks, Major. Now I'm gonna have to listen to this again.

:D

We all know that FF was a response to JLA with Hal and Barry. Yes, Barry came first and was starting to get comics back on the map. Then the FF came along and everything went gonzo.

We're all aware of history. Now... anyone wanna talk about Wally's new costume?

Maybe so but it's still copying what Barry did. The only difference is Wally is around his kids, Barry wasn't.

My mistake.

Have you a picture of it yet? It didn't look different n the preview.

I don't think it's been seen yet. I'm just speculating. His costume will go a long way to either heal or hurt Wally Fan's feelings.

So I'm hoping it's great. And I hope he either shows his hair or doesn't wear a mask at all.
