Actually, if you want to see a good take on Hal and Barry, I recommend The Flash & Green Lantern: The Brave and the Bold TPB. That made me like both of them, plus there's some good Alan/Jay stuff in there as well.
That was a fantastic story. I definitely recommend it to anyone. Waid is awesome, etc etc and so forth.

But y'know what? A lot of it is retroactive fanwanking. Not all, but a lot. Hal and Barry were friends and visited, sure, but there was nothing like this in the silver age. It's much the same with Jay and Alan, really. The idea of these people going on wacky camping trips is entirely a modern age nostalgic invention. That's why the whole GL/GA road trip was so interesting for its time, because that kinda stuff between superheroes hardly ever happened back then.

To quote someone else 'cause I can't be arsed to put it in my own words...:oldrazz:

This is charming, and funny and looks terrific, and Barry and Hal are a nice couple of guys, but this is not the Barry Allen who appeared in DC comics before his death, this is a character so altered as to be pretty much someone else entirely. So we're not "getting Barry back", we're getting a rose-tinted retcon of Barry back.

Well, it fits with the current stuff, at least, since Hal is basically a different guy from his Silver Age self in Johns' GL series too.

The GL/GA road trip still holds up IMO. No reason a similar concept can't today, all it needs is good creators to make it. Tomasi would be perfect for it.

I didn't much like the Hard-Travelin' Heroes stuff, myself. Maybe I'm too used to heroes being friends already. Never finished the second volume.

It sounds like a nice mini-series, but I don't think it would make sense as an ongoing. What, are the Flashes and GLs just gonna be joined at the hip all the time?
No, but it could be a book where you can read about the characters who have kinda been taken out of the spotlight like Kyle and (soon to be) Wally. Plus, because there are so many Flash/GL characters there can surely be a way to change things up story arc to story arc.

Man, I miss seeing all the speedsters work together.
Well, this is what you are going to see with Flash : Rebirth, you know, the whole legacy-family, etc , ... so you might be interested in this after the miniserie.

We probably will see it in Rebirth, but if Johns' MO holds true, the Flash series after Rebirth will be entirely Barry-centric.

I wonder how barts gonna explain to his girlfriend why he's jailbait. Though I have a feeling Bart Allen is not the flash that died.

Aw, he did? That's what all that s**t was about? So did he come back or is he staying in the future?

Oh, whoops. Spoiler alert, I guess? :o

Anyway, I suppose we'll find out what becomes of Bart if Legion of Three Worlds #4 and 5 ever actually manage to get published. Or in Flash: Rebirth #1. Whichever comes first.

It's not a spoiler to me. Not like i'm gonna get around to reading either anytime soon.

I need some suggestions of some comics

Does anybody know any good Storylines/Mini-series (collected in trade paperback)/One Shots for the Flash?

Born to Run
The Return of Barry Allen
Terminal Velocity
Dead Heat
Race Against Time
Emergency Stop
The Human Race
Wonderland
Blood Will Run
The Rogues
Crossfire
Blitz
Ignition
The Secret of Barry Allen
Rogue War

Flash & Green Lantern: The Brave and the Bold

I have the printing of "Blood Will Run" that has the Iron Heights storyline in it

I'm pretty sure that's any printing other than the very first one. Iron Heights was in its own trade initially, but I guess they figured it was smarter to just combine the two.

This solicits say that Barry finds a dead speedster and realizes the dangers of being a flash. He probably finds Kid zoom and realizes how easy it is for the rogues to kill speedsters.

The solicits say "one of the world's most powerful speedsters is dead." I'm leaning more toward Max Mercury or Savitar rather than Kid Zoom because of that.

Maybe it's that Glimer Man guy from World War III. That was a pretty awesome Speedster i'd like to see again. Giant Speedster. That sounds all kinds of awesome.

Does it really matter anymore if a speedster is found dead?

With the things that have been going on lately it seems like speedsters can't die.

Eh, it's a pretty good amount of dead ones. Johnny Quick. Max Mercury. One of those Russian speedsters who ran a delivery business. Savitar.

Savitar's not necessarily dead. He bounced off the Speed Force. He seemed to die, but he could always just have bounced through time like Max Mercury used to.

Johnny Quick, Max and Savitar are all supposed to be in the Speed Force but that's beside the point.

My point was that even speedsters that were not absorbed by the Speed Force and have "died" seem to be able to be able to come back.
