Really? Never saw the show. I mostly know that dude (John Wesley Ship, I think his name is?) as Dawson's dad.

And I'm already ashamed I watched Dawson's Creek when I was younger. :csad:

Well as a kid I loved John Wesley Ship as The Flash, but I guess I'm a bit older than you, never watched Dawson's Creek.

Flash was a good series though, production design, music, direction, everything was very Burton era Batman. The Box set is available you know.

Wally West deserves better than this. Thats all I have to say. Rebirth might be great, but Wally doesn't deserve to be thrown overboard.

Way to screw up the most developed chaarcter of the this comic era.

Dan DiDio: This comic era sucks! You're gonna get to see what real comics were like after I'm done getting everything reset to how things were when I was growing up!

wow... its like him and JQ are... could it be? are they the SAME PERSON!!!!

No, Joe Q isn't quite as into reconstructing his youth via comics. Spider-Man is the only real indulgence he's permitted himself on that front. He's got his problems, but he also gave us Annihilation in spite of his personal disdain for cosmic stories. Man's out to make money however he can get it. Whether that's better or worse than DiDio shoving his own image of how the DC universe should be down our throats is up to you.

I've been meaning to get into The Flash for a really long time, I've always loved the character, but the problem is I have no idea were to start... Could anybody recommend a good jump on point... As much as i love Johns' work I really dont wanna have to wait to Rebirth.

at least Joe Q leaves his office...as you see him doing a lot of press and interviews....DiDio tends to hide behind his writers....

Rebirth starts today, so you don't actually have to wait at all. But if you want some great Flash comics, I would recommend starting back with Waid's Born to Run TPB. That gives you a modern retelling of Wally's origin and history, which gets you ready for the rest of Waid's run, which is phenomenal, and Johns' run, which is also very good. They're finally collecting the comics from between Waid and Johns' runs into TPBs and those are pretty good, too.

Born To Run... Got it. Thanks, Corp!

Has anyone else read Flash: Rebirth? I found it pretty cool, cant wait till the next one.

it wasnt too bad... though i hate that [BLACKOUT]they started with a mystery and then ignored it the rest of the issue... i understand its a mini and will probably read better straight through, but still... friggin annoying![/BLACKOUT]

I love Bart being the voice of the fandome here, saying Wally is the Flash. At least the issue is evident.

Legion of 3 Worlds a few months ago. He shows up in this as well.

I thought it was through the Lightning Rod. God damn legion's confusing storylines.

Oh yeah. It's been like 3 months since the last issue of that came out, so ya know...

Combination of both.....a bunch of Lightning Lads and Lightning Lasses...a few Lightning Rods....and the Cosmic Treadmill

first issue was good. nothing amazing (aside from the art) but a good solid start. i look forward to the rest.

Agree with the general gamut; "It was good, but nothing spectacular." Actually, the art is pretty spectacular, and people actually don't look too much like the stilted mannequins that Van Sciver has been drawing for the past few years.

Still, I'm not sure how I feel about the whole "Overabundance of lightning! Lightning goes everywhere! FILL UP THE PAGE WITH LIGHTNING!!!" thing now being the de facto artistic motif for the Flashes. It's very cool; it looks cool and is cool and whatever, but it really makes the Flashes' power seem like "electricity control" or something. If I had never known about these characters before and this issue was the first time I'd ever read about them, I'd swear to Buffy that each one of them had the power to shoot lightning from every orifice at their enemies.

I like how Johns writes Wally as a parent. There's a stern Republicanness about it that was kind of missing before and makes it feel a bit more realistic, not that I think Wally should be that all the time, or that past depictions of his parenting was really that off.

I will say, though, that I dunno who the **** this Barry is. No seriously, who is this emo freak ass? Y'know how GL: Rebirth actually made me like Hal and sympathize with him, at least up until his series? Yeah well that's not happening here. I don't understand this whole emo freak ass nonsense. It doesn't fit the Waid Barry, it doesn't fit Johns' own past Barry, and it especially doesn't fit the optimistic, adventurous, charming Barry that Morrison wrote less than a year ago. So...there had better be a point to this emo freak assness.

And, uh, what's up with the whole "father [maybe framed for] killing mother" retcon? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that's a bigass retcon. Whassamatter Johns, you realized Barry wasn't interesting enough so you needed to force square pegs into his round hole?

...:meanie:

Heh, I'm being all sarcastic at things but, again, the issue actually wasn't bad at all.

I love Bart being the voice of the fandome here, saying Wally is the Flash. At least the issue is evident.
I actually rolled the **** out of my eyes for that scene. Someone said elsewhere -- and I agree -- that it's "a completely transparent audience-insertion. He knows there are people who feel exactly that way and figures if he has a character in the story acknowledge it, that makes the story good." As if putting the fans' major concerns into dialogue somehow alleviates having to address those concerns, as if all you need to do to have a character stay relevant is to mention his relevancy once or twice. Maybe I wouldn't be cynical if this was the first time it popped up, but we've all been thrice-burned at this point; Kyle...Connor...Cass...etc...etc...etc...etc.

Yep, it was decent but not a lot happened. All the Barry praise annoyed me, but it's to be expected. Since the plot doesn't seem all that engaging, though, I may end up skipping the rest of this.
