you mean [blackout]black[/blackout]? and really? cuz [blackout]i called it halfway through issue one and ill bet wally ends up as the black flash by the end of the mini, sacrificing himself so barry can live anew... remember johns and EVS said wally would have a new uniform familiar to fans[/blackout]... ugh

No, he meant Dark, it's a Dark Reign tie-in silly:o

If you're right about Wally, I'm going to be pretty pissed. I do not like that idea, at all.

Huh. Somewhat expected it.

Wonder what Johns do from there?

If wally becomes black flash....then....I dont know. But i wont be happy with that lol

you think im gonna be happy? its like for every good resurrection johns does he has to do a needless one that marginalizes the current legacy... like hal... or BARRY... but whos the sucker because im still reading it :(

I'd be cool with this whole [blackout]Black Flash[/blackout] thing if it meant he'd magically turn into like a swingin' 70s Luke Cage angry black dude who said things like "Sweet Speed Force!" and wore red parachute pants and a leather jacket.

What he doesn't ever seem to have understood is that massive retcons/resurrections are only necessary and good and awesome when they bring back a character that's f-list. Doing it to a franchise who's already in the top echelon of DC characters is dumb and pointless.

I didn't read it myself, I'm buying it for a friend who is into this stuff. I read the first issue and I didn't like it all that much. If they do that to Wally, man I hope it's not a long term and somebody fixes it in a Flash

To be honest, I loved reading Waid and Johns run of Wally. It was a very good run and that was the Flash I was raised on. Ever since he came back with his twins aged from wherever he was in Infinite Crisis, I felt the progression of him and his family was pushed onto the readers like Bart being aged.

I don't know if much could be done with Wally and his family. They shouldn't hinder the character, but they should be more of a supporting cast like the Commisoner Gordon is to Batman, but it's harder to do with Wally because his supporting cast is his family. I can see Barry being a reboot for the Flash by starting fresh and not being held down because of a family, except for Iris. And the tying in all of the speedsters by the speed force and their own distinct lighting trails for each of the speedsters.

As someone mentioned, that would crazy to have Wally be the Black Flash, but it makes sense to have someone take the place of the original Black Flash. Kind of like what Johns did with Andriod Hourman for the original Hourman, Rex Tyler, in JSA. He had the Andriod Hourman die in place of where Rex Tyler should have been. So, I don't think the notion of Wally being the Black Flash is too far fetched. It would be cool if Wally was the Black Flash and didn't kill people, but I think that is the sole purpose of the Black Flash, to be the Grim Reaper for the Speedsters.

im not too convinced yet wally will become black flash. something about that is just weird. if it does happen, then im gonna have to wait and see how it plays out. but i couldnt imagine it sitting well. but the idea of the black flash being a legacy character is kind of interesting, makes me wonder who the current black flash was? where'd he come from, whats his story? that could be cool. my only issue with the story so far is, ironically enough, that it's moving pretty slow.

I'd say issue two was more or less the same caliber of quality as issue one. It's decent, it's got decent writing, it's got decent scenes, but there's nothing exciting. And I mean nothing. That ending BIG SHOCK REVELATION really wasn't as big or shocking or revelatory as it was built up to be. We already knew Barry has a "Kills speedsters" touch. I imagine the rest of the series will be all about how they get rid of it, because obviously it's not going to stick around.

^^i mostly agree. but i dont think barry becoming the black flash was suppose to be a "big shock revelation". its an important event in the series, for sure, but i dont think it was suppose to be anything mind blowing. so people trying to call the story out because they saw that coming, well, barry becoming the black flash isnt the point of the story.

Which also sucked. Johns does seem to have a habit of sacrificing promising newer characters for the sake of older ones. Except Stargirl, since he created her back when he was still creating things rather than retconning them.

I always liked Stargirl....have they done anything interesting with her since she's been with the JSA??

She dated Captain Marvel for awhile, but Jay put the kibosh on that one thinking it was creepy, not knowing that CM was really a 16 year old boy. And of course she became more of an all around decent super hero. Going from annoying little girl playing dress up to a real leader.

Barry talked to Hal. Barry killed another Speedster. Barry is black. Doesn't have the same umph as GL:R.

It's funny. Johns says what's wrong with Barry's ressurection in the issue, commenting on how when Hal was dead, **** was ****ed up. As opposed to when Barry was dead.

Kind of like in issue 1 when Bart commented on how Wally is the true Flash.

Makes you kinda think that Johns actually knows what he is doing. I'm gonna see where this is going.

I dropped this after the first issue. I'm not against retconning, but I really don't like the way it's being handled here. I'll be back when someone either cleans up this mess, or chooses to ignore it. It's a little frustrating when there are so many good comics out right now that most fans don't even consider reading, because they're so focused on collecting these big "event" titles...
