yea i wouldnt mind him i liked his work in smallville and also he has appeared in csi ny in a guest staring role.

This is the last day of January and still no news from DC entertainment :(

The sad thing is I'm not really surprised besides except BB3 news I wasnt really expecting any really good news from DCE anyways

well like someone pointed out we didnt know for sure if the whole dce meeting was to be in jan or not. only that one producer stated it could have been. other things said it was first quarter 2010.

"...WB has a Superman script they are happy with, and an announcement is around the corner on "Wonder Woman" and "Flash" with additional info for "Superman" and "Batman 3".

i hope we are finally moving from the script johns and that other writer been working on the past yr to some major development with more producers/director on board.

James Roday. Great with the wisecracks and a solid dramatic actor.

Thanks for age brian. for me if they were to go with barry which is likely they would probably have him be like 25-29yrs old character wise. So then if wally was to have a part in first film which i am sure he would i would bet they would end up having the character be like 17-20yrs old. I would like to see at least a 10yr difference in barry and wally. Which i think would make a more believeable difference in their uncle/nephew relationship.

My latest article:
Superheroes that need movies NOW: The Flash
The comic:
When police scientist Barry Allen is struck by lightning and doused with chemicals, he gains super speed approaching faster-than-light velocities. He battles the criminal underworld of both Central and Keystone City as The Flash: The fastest man alive. Years later, when his nephew Wally West experiences a similar accident, the boy becomes his protégé Kid Flash, and eventually takes over the mantle of the Flash when Barry sacrifices himself to save the world.

The movie:
By design, a movie titled “The Flash” needs to be a high-octane, effects-filled superhero adventure. To capture the right tone, the filmmakers would do well to emulate the best of the Spider-Man movies rather than the somber, gritty feel of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies. But the biggest question is, which Flash? Barry or Wally? Or somehow both? Rather than starting at the beginning, like most superhero films are compelled to do, the filmmakers should strongly consider skipping past the origin either way, otherwise they’re just retreading material already covered on the 1990 TV show. More importantly, the mechanics of Flash’s origin story is pretty standard superhero-fare that could easily be summarized in the opening credits.

The overarching theme of legacy is one of the most unique aspects of the character’s mythos. Since much of Wally’s time as the Flash has focused on carrying on Uncle Barry’s legacy, perhaps a movie could focus on that aspect, beginning with Barry’s last battle and following Wally as he struggles with taking over the mantle.

Another standout element is that the filmmakers can have their pick of adversaries. Unlike the usual assortment of solo villains, the Flash’s rogues’ gallery is a unionized blue-collar array of super-baddies, thanks to Geoff Johns’ star-making run as writer several years ago.

Suggested director: James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin). He’s a student of the Wachowski brothers, he showed in V that with a decent script he can make a smart thriller, he’s demonstrated a distinct visual style, and he has an impressive action movie pedigree that has served Warner Bros. well in the past.

Could it happen?
Like many of the DC heroes who are not Batman, development on the Flash movie has gone through many false starts in the last few years. Various directors including David S. Goyer, Shawn Levy, and David Dobkin have had their hands on the project, which is currently in limbo without a director. Charles Roven, one of the producers on The Dark Knight and other Warner Bros. releases, was recently taken off of the Flash movie after several years of development while WB’s newly formed DC Entertainment branch develops more superhero films internally. The current screenplay under consideration was penned by Dan Mazeau with Geoff Johns consulting. With DC Entertainment forming under Warner Bros., it seems that DC fans can look forward to some interesting news regarding film versions of many long-awaited icons in the near future.

nice article, personally for me as much as i know folks here love wally a bit more. I rather start with barry see barry 's time as the film. But also have wally there in a small supporting role. So then in sequel time they could play with him becoming the next flash.

does anyone still know what the whole deal was behind Goyer's script? A few people on here claimed they had it and said it was excellent but pretty dark, can anyone explain?

The first movie should have all 3. Jay, Barry, and Wally.
If I were to take on a Flash movie, I'd have Wally have a huge supporting role.
In the first act Barry becomes the Flash and in the second act Wally would get his powers the same way Barry does. Then in the third act Wally would become Kid Flash and fight side by side with Barry. And of course, Barry would die in the end so for the sequel it could be about Wally taking over.

sounds great but too much for the 1st film. imo it sounds too convoluted ala spidey 3 w/ too many subplots and characters. I'd say split that into 3 separate films as a trilogy. 1st film is barry's origin w/ jay garrick as a small but important mentor role/cameo appearance. Wally as a supporting character. 2nd film w/ kid flash as a protege and the tone of the film be like an empire strikes back were barry sacrifices himself against a world threat and have wally take up the mantle on the third film. :yay:

I really doubt that they would let Barry die just like how I doubt they'll let Hal Jordan destroy Coast City in the Green Lantern sequels.

Good article and I agree for the most part. along with James McTengue (if he's able to use his V for Vendetta magic rather than Ninja Assassin) I would like to suggest Duncan Jones (Moon).

I just have a feeling that The Flash will be given to a newcomer, who has a lot buzz. like how Marc Webb got Spider-Man the reboot.

Decent Article
1) I do agree Wally is a better choice. Hes different and you can get alot cooler stories, abilities with him. Also you can have more Speedsters with Wally
2) The idea to show Barrys origins in the credits is stupid. It should be fleshed out more.

As far as director, I would want Shane Black or Jason Reitman to direct. I dont think either has big SFX experience, but neither did Nolan. Both are known for directing/writing these smart comedies/black comedies/dramadedies which would serve a Flash film well

I love Jason Reitman but I don't know. I've listen to him when he was a guest on the slash film.com blogcast, and I get the vibe he just wants to do small indie flick, which is fine.

Ironicly enough, if you wanna a geek friendly version of Jason Reitman, it would be his English twin Edgar Wright. Even with him though, he's still slated to do Ant-Man and another comedy.

Shane Black would work too but man, I don't know how he makes money; he'll do a project every 5 years. He needs to work more.

If it's fantasy director casting, then yeah, I'm all for Black and Reitman though.

I just want to hear something soon on Flash (along with other DC projects)
Maybe its the cynic in me, but Im not impressed with DCEs moves of getting consultants. Im waiting for BIG news
