there needs to be flash film soon.. deal with the legacy characters as well...

hopefully the flash film has more movement now with the new writer on board and we can hopefully see it within the next 2yrs maybe 4yrs.

There should already be at least 3 or 4 films in the works. Superman and Batman should be the priorities, with Green Lantern and Flash coming shortly after. People are always whining about the lack of strong female heroines, so I don't get why Wonder Woman isn't being given some serious discussion right now either.

They finally officially put Superman Height at 6' 4'?

Hey Kevin I would your main picks for Barry, iris and the Rouges.

well from all we know ww is stuck in the dam developmental hell it has been in for yrs mostly due to joel silver having the film rights and sitting on it mostly. As for flash he seems to been stuck in development too for awhile and once in awhile the past 2-5yrs their been some movement but not alot. It sucks wb is having so much trouble first with fixing superman on film, then getting non batman characters out there.

well hmm thats tough call i would say we need to know what direction the film will be going like age range they will have barry/iris and if wally will be featured in the film and all that. Now if they go like what they are planning with gl and going mid/late 20s for the leads i would like to see barry/iris be 25-29yrs old range. So then to make it be a bit realistic wally should atless be 10-13yrs age difference so an uncle/nephew relationship does look weird and more a brother/brother relationship.

So, I have a confession....

After being politely informed I was being too hard on Barry Allen, I decided to go back and read up on Barry Allen, and you know something, I'm kinda digging it. I get why so many fans like this guy.

Wally West is and will always be my favorite Flash and one of my favorite DC characters, because like Waid, I see alot of myself in Wally, and I just want to see the character get his live action due. I honestly think Wally is better suited for television, as is the Flash Legacy period.

yup, ever since Christopher Reeve played the role. the character was originally 6', then 6'4 Reeve played him. over the next few years DC gradually increased Supes height by about an inch until they finally settled on copying Reeve's height which was 6'4. all the other superheroes followed suit.

The more I read about Barry, the more I seen Ben McKenzie being good for the role.

Cool! I'm glad to hear that you're giving Barry a chance. Definitely check out New Frontier, the book, if you get a chance. :D

Agreed and agreed, bro! :D If they do a film series with Barry, they can even use that to jump start the TV series with Wally in the lead, with Barry already established. :)

If you were only familiar with Barry through what Waid did in his Flash run with flashbacks and so forth, it's not entirely unsympathetic that you wouldn't like him; Waid wrote Barry like a plank of wood during his Flash run, mostly to keep the focus on Wally I think. But he's done some much better stories since then.

Here is my Flash cast. I'm sorry it took me so long to post it, but I've been really freakin' busy the last few days. :)

Oh, I will be honest, I was truly introduced to Barry through Waid, and it did not give Barry a good first impression. I will check out New Frontier, btw. I'm like you, if the really wanted to, they could give Barry the film series and Wally a television series, maybe with Jay Garrick as an older mentor type.

You should read JLA: Year One and Flash/GL: Brave and the Bold mini-series by Mark Waid. They are excellent introductions for Hal and Barry.

My idea for a Flash television series has always been an extension of my movie idea, or should I say, my idea for a movie has always come from my television idea, just wrapped into a two hour movie.

My television series would deal with the Flash Legacy, the speed force, everything. The show would open with Barry Allen as The Flash, and a powerless Wally West, which is unlike the comics, but I have a reason behind it. I would incorporate Jay Garrick into the series, adpating the comic storyline that originally featured Jay Garrick being a comic book character that Barry Allen based the Flash off of. Here, Jay would have been The Flash, having gained his powers from inhaling fumes, and due to the nature of his costume, having been a publicly known hero, which would have worked in against him in the long run. I would feature Garrick stripped of his powers, either due to villians acting against him or for health concerns, maybe introducing a storyline about the fumes being a bad way to gain the speed powers. Anyway, once Barry gained his powers through alternate means, he searched out Garrick, who helped him develop a secret identity and mentored him in being a superhero.

Anyway, Barry Allen is the beloved Flash in the pilot, and story short, dies. Before dying, the bond between Barry and Wally, as well as Iris and Wally, is firmly established, and unknown to Wally, Barry would have already made plans with Jay to recreate the accident for Wally in the event that something happened to Barry, because the world would still need a Flash. As you can guess, when Barry, dies, Jay does indeed recreate the accident, giving Wally the speed powers, and trains him to become the new Flash in the shadow of perhaps the greatest hero of all time.

Wally trying to live up to the standard Barry set provides enough storyline alone, and I would add in flashbacks to Barry as The Flash, and show Six Feet Under like scenes that would show Wally, in his head, talking to Barry about what he should or should not do, or something h has done. This is where I got the idea for Peter Krause to play an older Barry Allen. As supporting characters, you have Jay and Iris, as well as the relationship between Wally and Tina McGee so you could gradually bring along Linda Park, who would be a regular from the get go. A combination of the Reverse Flash characters would be the season one villian, which would place off of Wally trying to replace Barry well in my opinion. Throw in some original characters, and it could be nice. Storylines dealing with the speed force, Flash Legacy, the Flash museum, it would all work within the context of th show.

I know I have altered some comic stuff, but I think this all could go together nicely and create atleast a cult hit television series when its all said and done.

Sorry for the delay. Here it is:

THE FLASH/BARRY ALLEN

PAUL WALKER

Aside from looking almost exactly like Barry Allen and being able to do funny and serious, a balance that would definitely be needed to play Barry Allen, he's actually interested in the part. Back when the JLA film was being cast, a couple of posters had said they wanted him for Aquaman and apparently he got wind of it. When I spoke to him via his myspace page about how he felt about all the Aquaman suggestions, he said that's cool but he'd like to play The Flash. Double points for him I say. :D

RYAN GOSLING

While he may not have the statuesque look of a traditional comic book hero, he's got the acting chops to play one, IMO. He's got the blond hair and blue eyes, like Barry, and he can also mix humor and serious (Fracture).

SCOTT PORTER

Aside from being considered for the part several times now, he looks enough like Barry with his strawberry blond hair and blue eyes, is a decent actor, has a great sense of humor, and is a DC comics fan to boot, he's even done interviews with DC Comics head honcho Dan Didio himself. Not to mention he could practically voice The Flash in a cartoon, he sounds how he would sound in animation, IMO, not a real deep voice, can talk fast yet still be understood.

Man, I really don't want Ryan Gosling. Just look at him. He's got a flat, lackluster face. Some of these other guys at least look like they've got the potential to be heroes.

WALLY WEST/KID FLASH

ANTON YELCHIN

Sure he's a skinny, but he really is a great actor. Obviously, they'd build him up if he were cast as a superhero, and he's in his late teens. He can pull of naive and funny, which would be necessary to play Wally West/Kid Flash.

OLDER WALLY WEST

JOHNNY LEWIS

C'mon! Dude looks just like him!
