I don't see Cooper as the Barry type. He would make a better Green Arrow, that idea is growing on me. But Patrick Wilson still remains my top choice for Barry.

LOL, do they really expect us to believe they have a lead actor for the movie before there's even a director!?

Here's how the cinematic process generally works:

Pitch > Script > Rewrites > Director > Greenlight > More Rewrites > Lead Actor.

If we were to believe gossip websites though, it would be something more like this:

Pitch > Lead Actor > Everything Else

Producers and studio execs will sometimes start discussing possible casting choices before a director is signed. Of course once a director comes on board he'll usually (although not always) have significant say in the casting process.

No one has said that Bradley Cooper WILL be Barry. It was merely said that he is Warner's top choice for the role when the casting process starts. Studios always have top choices for the roles of their movies even before a Script is complete.

He doesn't remind me of Barry either (I kind of want to see John Krasinski get a shot), but I could see Cooper as The Flash...as long as he doesn't do a Batman voice at the audition, like he did for Green Lantern. He's a nice mix of Barry and Wally's characteristics, so much so that if Wally is, well, Wally, in the future, he could be seen as taking after his uncle in more ways than one. Intriguing.

"According to Cooper, his audition technique was to mimic Christian Bale’s voice from the recent “Batman” movies. And, as the Bat-voice is the one element of “The Dark Knight” that fans everywhere seem to hate, Cooper’s decision was probably ill-advised."

Cooper: I did, which was amazing to even get a chance… (but) I couldn’t NOT do Christian Bale “Batman” when I was doing the audition, I don’t know what it was… the director was like, “OK Bradley this time just be regular” and I was like “yeah, yeah, yeah I got it” and then

Sounds more like he was joking than that he actually did the Bale Batman voice throughout the whole audition.

it sounds like a conversation starter but i think it was just an exaggerated story.

he said the same thing on a tall show leno or Conan i forget
That quote above is from The Tonight Show, which is why he was likely joking. Actors embellish anecdotes for comedic effect on talk shows. It's part of the format. He may have done the Bale Batman voice once or twice in the audition as a joke, but it's highly unlikely that he actually couldn't/wouldn't stop doing it throughout the whole audition. To think that is to be too literal and to ignore the context of where a quote comes from.

I saw it too and it sounded like a joke, or rather an anecdote.

I really think that maybe he DID do 'a voice' but I think he was more nervous than anything else.

You can see the clip here. It sounds to me like there may be a kernel of truth to it, but that he's mostly embellishing for comedic effect.

Either way it would be like 2 years later when auditioning again, I'm sure after using that voice he's at least tried coming up with a better heroic voice. That of course is if it isn't a rumor, which I'm 99% positive it is.

I suggested him too awhile back too, and I think he'd be a good choice.

I don't know if I can really see Cooper as Barry Allen though. I think he could've worked as Hal Jordan, but since that didn't happen, the suggestions of Guy Gardner or Green Arrow I think would be a better fit.

I've always have thought that whoever plays Barry Allen should have a 'geeky' quality. Something I can see in Krasinki, Matt Morrison, or Gosling. Not so much in Cooper, Ackles, or McPartin.

I agree that Cooper is a more natural fit for Green Arrow than Barry, but I wouldn't rule him out of handling the latter role capably.

I find it funny that we could possibly see a situation where Cooper is playing Flash and Reynolds GL. :woot: :hehe:

So, if Greg Berlanti isn't directing...who do you guys think should direct The Flash?

For me, Brad Bird seems like the best bet...partly because he'd probably get Michael Giacchino to score it. :woot:

I'd like to see Matt Reeves direct. I bet he could knock the forensics/crime lab scenes out of the park and the cinematography would be fantastic. Imagine how great he'd do with a big budget seeing as how he made Cloverfield and Let Me In with 30 and 20 million respectively. He's also great at filming romantic links between characters, which is very very important for Barry and Iris.

Brad Bird, Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg, or Gore Verbinski

I could see those 4 making an excellent Flash movie.
