well his MUSIC does live on in this game. I admit hearing Elmer's music playing over the Columbia Pictures logo was pretty sweet, but hearing Ray Parker Jr's Ghostbusters song kick in was icing on an already AWESOME cake :hehe:.
Oh yeah, the vintage Columbia logo was a nice touch. I love how they're treating the game as if it actually came out in 1991. :D

I know, right, it really does feel like the third movie literally. Even if the game itself is poop at least that portion will be more then worth it

True, although I very much doubt the game will be poop. Everything looks pretty impressive so far.

Oh, yeah me neither, it looks quite good. Plus, 'Busting just makes you feel so good :)

I hope the Wii version includes an interactive part where you have to dance alongside the other Ghostbusters. Motion controls would finally be 100% justified. :D

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but here is an interview with two of the main developers. They talk about and show some multiplayer from the game:

After this any fear I had about the game is gone. These guys obviously get Ghostbusters, this stuff is in fine hands. Also, not sure, but I think I might have seem some crossed streams in that video with explosions and all:). I wonder if maybe we'll see skins for the Extreme Ghostbusters in multiplayer. Oh, I guess not, pretty sure I'm the only one who cares about that, it would be too much for the old heart

Here's also a bit of a demo that I hadn't seen before. It's the in game battle with Slimer. Ah, Bill Murray you old fox you still got it.

Here is IGN's criticisms of what they've played:

Sorry for that terrible pun, firstly. Secondly, we're a little bit in love with Ghostbusters: The Video Game – a fixation that spawned from a misspent youth in front of the tube, watching Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddmore battle against ghosts, ghouls and possessed paintings. The game manages to capture much of the irreverent and occasionally spooky feeling of the two classic films, but it goes further, allowing you to turn on your proton pack and join the team as the 'Rookie'.

With Ghostbusters: The Video Game due in mid-June this year, there's just enough time left to polish out some of the smudges we've come across on an otherwise engrossing game. Read on for our top five quick-fixes.

Aiming and quick-turns
At it's heart, Ghostbusters is essentially a third-person shooter. As such, it has to fall in line with some basic tenets of shooter gameplay, such as aiming, reloading and simply tracking your target. While the game mostly nails this, we found that – even with a crosshair - the zig-zagging, wiggling stream was tricky to predict and track at times.

A quick-turn function would help make those pesky geists short work.

Ghosts move quickly and often over your head, making a quick turnaround very important. Unfortunately, there's no option for a quick about-face or lock on, other than the 'trapping' beam, which can be toggled when a ghost has been wrangled for long enough. Give us a Resident Evil-style quick-turn option and a better method for tracking quick moving ghouls, pronto!

In-game versus CG cutscenes
Once upon a time, rendered cutscenes were viewed as the more impressive portion of a game's presentation, usually outshining the in-game graphics. Today, the reverse is true. In Ghostbusters: The Video Game, there's a wide discrepancy between the quality of the in-game graphics, which are crisp, clean and high-resolution, and the pixelated, lower resolution cutscenes.

It's a problem for us that the game resorts to using prerendered sequences when the engine is already so pretty. In our view, it's not necessary to break out of the action with a flashy cutscene if the quality is lower than the actual in-game graphics. Besides – the characters are already nicely lip-synched and certain cutscenes are already in-game anyway. Why not go the whole hog, for consistency's sake?

Co-op, anyone?
Alright – we know there's a multiplayer mode in there already and this is hardly a quick-fix, but come on, guys - if there was ever a game that begged for four player co-op, this is it. You have four squad members, typically. You have a campaign with levels that beg to be traversed with a friend.

Who wouldn't want to play this game in co-op with a few mates?

Why the blooming heck was this omitted? If it turns out that this is in the pipeline and you're going to charge us to download it as 'extra content', we're not going to be happy campers. As it stands, it would be a terrible waste for the franchise if there wasn't a co-op function, so our fingers are crossed that it'll appear, even if we do end up having to pay extra for it.

Waypoints and maps
There's nothing worse than having to second-guess AI routes. In Ghostbusters, Egon can suddenly take off in a strange direction while you're mid-ghost capturing – and while he may know exactly where your next way-point might be, you don't have any indicators. This becomes more problematic in environments like the hotel, where there are a lot of winding corridors and branching routes.

The hotel's level design was intricate enough to become confusing. How about a map system or waypoints?

What we'd like to see is a screen added to your PDA that gives you a radar-like overview of the level, preferably identifying your teammate's locations, as well as your next objective. For people who think this might make things too easy, there should be an option to toggle this on and off at the start of the game and in the menu.

Repetitive voices
It's not that we don't appreciate having Dan Aykroyd voicing his own parts or Bill Murray sprinkling dry wit throughout Ghostbusters: The Video Game – what really begins to grate is how often Aykroyd's 'Ray' repeats the same lines and instructions over and over and over and over. And over:

"Hit him with a Boson dart! Hit him with a Boson dart! Hit him with a Boson dart! Hit him with a Boson dart! Hit him with a Boson dart! Hit him with a Boson dart!"

We're not sure if it was an oversight on the developer's part or whether they could only afford a certain number of fresh recordings, but we're really hoping that the final version of the game reduces the number of repeated lines , spacing them out or mixing them up a little more.

Finally, just for the hell of it, the original pilot promo for Real Ghostbusters, I had actually never seen it before and stumbled across it while watching these videos:

Yea i saw this when they posted it, but i had a real hard time paying any attention after i read the quote above. Have they ever seen any of the films? The proton stream is more of controlled chaos. You had a general idea of where its gonna go, but you'll never be 100% I want the proton stream to feel as tho i barely have control of it, the way it should.

That was a cool interview. It was neat to notice how one of the developers said that within a week of Activision dropping Ghostbusters, Atari had already made it known to the dev team that they were going to pick them up. I said the day the news broke that the game wouldn't last a week without a publisher.

I WANT THAT DEMO RIGHT NOW!!!!

I love in the demo when Venkman is talking to the hotel employee. It reminds me of the first conversation he had with Walter Peck. I cant wait to hear all the dialog

DAMN, why cant it be June 16, like, yesterday?!?!?!

Yeah, I hope they put that demo up on PS3/X360 in the next month or so. Would be nice to have a preview of the game before the main course

Yea iv watched that demo like 10 times now. Can not wait to bust Slimer in the Sedgewick. Its gonna be soooo awesome.

I...can't decide which to go with.

Golden Proton Pack...Ghostbusters 2 outift...or playing as a Ghoul and...Mayor Jock?

so...there's still no news on what UK pre-orders get? damnit all...

So does anyone know what the PS3 version has that the 360 doesn't yet? Supposedly there was going to be something, but I have no idea.

Im still going with the Gamestop order. The shirt and Ghostbusters II outfit, imo, are the best specials as of now. Hopefully the shirt will have the design from the PS3/360 version of the game.

Yea i want to know this as well. So far i still have my preorder on the 360 and itll take something pretty big for me to switch to the PS3.

I think I'll stick with the GS pre-order. The Ghoul skin is kind of cool, but I think I prefer the Ghostbusters II jumpsuit. The amazon limited edition is a no go for sure and the Gold Proton Pack is just kind of stupid to me.

With what we know now about the multiplayer I think the exclusive content the PS3 will get will either be some multiplayer skins or an exclusive map. That's my guess. I'd love if some multiplayer skins were either the cartoon look of the guys from The Real Ghostbusters or the Extreme Ghostbusters. However, I will not hold my breath

Yea the dev team has stated that they are keeping the cartoon and movies separate and that you wouldn't see any crossover in this title.

Well, I don't think it'd be a 'crossover' with just multiplayer skins that don't have any other relevance. Though, I know you're right

Yes, there will be an online mode where you choose which Ghostbuster you want to be and take ghostbusting jobs.

Kinda incredible, when you look at it, that the Slimer Edition doesn't have more in-game stuff.

Which, is what kinda kills it for me. Arkham Asylum does have a prop or two, but there's decent in-game extras that seem all the more worth it.

I think I might go with a pre-order at gamestop too, now that Batman got delayed. Not sure yet.

I think I want a demo first. On one hand, I'm a Ghostbusters fan 4 life. But, on the other...I'm always hesitant to pre-order a game.

btw...they changed the pre-order infor for Best Buy. They had another skin that looked alot like Bill Murray (Bill Murray NOW, not young) but said it was Mayor Jock Mulligan.

I wonder why the changed it.

The guy playing Mayor Jock Mulligan is Bill Murray's older brother, Brian Doyle-Murray, that's why they look alike. Brian was also in GB2 as the Psychiatrist in the mental institution the Ghostbusters are taken to.

The More you know...

Can't see why he'd be an alternative skin. You know what would be cool in terms of alternative costumes for the the four guys? Ghost versions of each of them, ones that kind of look like that Best Buy "Ghoul" skin.
There was an episode of "The Real Ghostbusters" that I remember, where Peter was suppose to properly dispose of their original jumpsuits, "ruined after their fight with Gozer," but Pete just dumps em in a box behind the containment unit where the "ghost residue" builds up and ghosts manifest themselves in the suits looking like ghost versions of the ghostbusters.
And it probably wouldn't be too hard to develop. Just make their current skins blue and translucent.

I think that would be cool, but that's just me. Ghost-Ghostbusters would be a cool boss too. I want this game so much, it isn't healthy.
