Well you said Favreau's out of IM3 because he's unhappy with IM2. We have proving you that what you said is false.

Think what you want. I also remember when Jon Favreau was talking about how he'd prefer to have more time early in development. But... WHATEVER, guys. I'm a fanboy. You aren't. Yeah, baby!

Time to unsubscribe from this thread for a while to avoid the excuse making before anyone has even seen the film, oh and to keep myself from being too much of a troll.

Getting back to the reviews, I'm still waiting on Richard Roeper's review. He's a closet fanboy, and is very supportive of the genre, so when he says somethings bad, it carries some weight. I held hope for Spider-man 3 until he came in with his review, and I knew I was going to be dissapointed.

Now there's no way he'll give this movie an A rating, because he has his reputation as a film maker, but I think he'll be as generous as possible. If he gives it anything lower than a B-, then GL is toast.

Favreau always gets the biggest pass when it comes to fan boys.
(it's not even like he had to deal with a writers strike:cwink:)

I love that he just left...once he made his name on the property.

I love that WB was aching to release that wonder con footage, they knew what they had to do lol.

I want to know why all hope is lost in the minds of some people. I mean if a bunch of people who are a part of the general audience wether they were originally a GL fan or not dug the movie, then surely there should be hope, right? Seriously folks, let's keep things in perspective and remember, all of those positive tweets that arrived on the scene before the string of bad reviews.

Same with me  **** the critics!

Cool the language.

I'm not really a green lantern fan, if my graphic novel collection was 100% the green lantern probably makes up about 0.5% so maybe not the best judge but I know enough about GL mythology to know what type of character hal jordan is and when I heard ryan reynolds was cast I was like, 'REALLY?' he seemed much more a kyle rayner type of actor, I was thinking someone more the lines of nathan fillian (cliche I know) older, more serious, commanding and then when I saw the trailer and heard the now imfamous 'I KNOW, RIGHT?!' my worst fears were confirmed.

I'm really beginning to dislike reynolds, he f***ed up blade 3 and I'll never forgive him for that, he was annoyong as heck in wolverine and now it 'seems' (watching the movie friday) he's screwed up GL. I'm really hoping they cast someone else for deadpool as ryan reyonalds is the kiss of death for any comic book franchise (well, maybe not x-men).

Reynolds didn't ruin Blade 3 or Wolverine. Those movies were weak on their own.

i am not some Cambell defender. but i would bet my life that all the problems this movie has ( if it has problems. i first neeed to see the movie) ....all hte problems are WB's fault. this was a studio movie. they forced a lot of things to make this their vision. i

What did they force?

I really wouldn't mind if this alters WB's approach to these movies but of course the concern is if they decide to have no approach at all.

I hear ya as well as others with that concern; but I think it's a it of a misnomer that if a big budget comic movie falls flat on it’s face that the movie industry will pull up stakes and stop producing them.

I mean even the biggest Hollywood ego cannot reconcile the fact that when you see films like Nolan’s Batman flicks do outstanding and then another highly anticipated comic film like GL tank (should that happen/just a for instance) that is is the property itself and not the delivery.

The only logical conclusion that any studio can come to (or at least should) is that fans are demanding more and that the comic book film bar is much, much higher now. They are not going to get away with just phoning these projects in anymore and cranking out a big CG-fest with questionable acting and crappy scripts. (this is NOT pertaining to GL directly as I have not seen it yet. Just a generalization)

Comic fans love the visual aspect of the medium but we all know it is and always has been all about the story. The often overlooked fact is that the comic fan base for the most part are a bunch of readers, and the sophistication and expectations of not only the comic fan ranks, but those of the general moviegoer has constantly been underestimated.

They know how profitable comic movies are, good or bad but they also know full well the potential gold mine the sustained revenue source that a well-executed and delivered comic film offers. For the investment they put in these movies, there is just no excuse for not bringing their “A game.”

IGN
"...this summer offers the colossal disappointment that is Green Lantern. The epitome of spectacle over substance, Green Lantern is a cosmic mess and a huge letdown given the source material it had to draw from. Indeed, X-Men: The Last Stand and Wolverine are better than Green Lantern.

ABC
"..Green Lantern, a joyless amalgamation of expository dialogue and special effects that aren't especially special."

Total Film
"...this underwhelming offering will likely leave you jaded. How it could have used some of Thor’s charm and The Green Hornet’s chutzpah."

I quite enjoyed X-3 but worse than wolverine? I'll believe that when I see it, and I will see it even with all the bad reiviews.

I'm having a hard time believing that GL is worse then X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I'll see it when I believe it.

Geez. So not only is this worse than XO: Wolverine but it's that bad that Green Hornet could have been used as an example to make it better? WOW

Wow, I can't believe these reviews. I'm still going in open minded, but wow, I'm pretty shocked.

One theme I've noticed in several reviews is that the reviewer did not care for the basic concept of the character to begin with. I'm also noticing an increasing level of annoyance among some critics growing tired of seeing yet another comic-book franchise being launched.

Thankfully, I am familiar with and approve of Green Lantern's origins and the basic premise, and I'm all about seeing more DC characters getting a shot at the big screen. So a substantial amount of negativity from these reviews won't effect me in the least as I watch the film.

I have to say that are many other problems that many reviewers are seeing that do have me worried.

I am going to give Warner Brothers my hard earned money this weekend regardless, in the hopes that they will not abandon every other hero in the DC universe(other than Batman) even if they dropped the ball with this film. At the very least I hope the special effects and action will be entertaining if the film is really as bad as many of it's reviews suggest.

As great as his 007 movies are, Campbell was wrong for GL. Honestly, this movie would have been a HUGE HIT if Zack Snyder were directing it.

Hate all you want, but Zack would have given us an amazing GL movie.

Man, I can't wait to see all hell break loose come this weekend. Speaking of which, shouldn't a poll be up some time today in this thread?

Seems from what i've read that Reynolds isn't really to blame, but the Hal Jordan character is poorly written. And too much telling, not enough showing.

Can't believe the Corps barely gets any screen time. I thought they'd have a decent sized role, well at least Kilowog and Tomar Re.

I'll add one in a little bit.
