from the perspective of a simple DC fan, not specifically a Green Lantern fan...

i loved it. absolutely loved it.
CG could of been better at times, but hey, CG is never 100% perfect.

I loved the story, and i loved the ending even more... i wont spoil anything.
the best thing I can say is dont let the critics tell you if it's good or not... make the decision for yourself.

Green Lantern could easily have been the greatest superhero movie of all time and its very disappointing to hear thats its not even GOOD. I don't know a lot about the character but the world he lives in, his powers, his enemies etc make for some very interesting stories. Also the fact that Mr Casino Royale Martin Campbell was directing gave me hope. Oh well with the size of the budget looks like we won't be seeing too many DC heroes on screen anytime soon, which sucks because I was really looking forward to Flash.

Can't you just imagine that?

"Jim...I have something to tell you..."*props his feet on Gordon's desk*

I'm worried there will be a campy style to it at first, but then it may be a style the movie will call for in a way.

Lol, I try not to

CA looks campy but yeah they may need that type of humor to pull off things like the USO show. I just hope public perception doesn't wane on superhero movies if GL turns out to be a failure.

Okay, I've been long supporting this film since the beginning. I got back from the show... I gotta say, I was disappointed. The main problem with this movie, to me, is the pacing. It jumps around a lot like Wolverine did. Also the lack of space scenes and actual GL action was a bit disappointing. The acting was pretty good, RR did a great Hal. Mark Strong was fantastic as Sinestro for the whole 4-5 scenes he had. This film needed more time I think. The effects were pretty great though.

I give this a 7/10. Their wasn't that many people at the theater, maybe filled about 6-7 rows. It was just disappointment. :( They stuck to the GL mythos pretty good though.

i will add this: the film got on ovation at the end in my theater

It's funny, the critics varying opinions of what's wrong with the film has spilled over into the fan reviews. No-one seems to be able to know as a collective what the issues are. Interesting.

SuperDaniel already made up his mind ahead of time that it was good.

No. It was good. Didnt we see about 5 Lanterns fighting Parallax? WTF people were expecting? Huge battles? It was obvious that this was going to be saved for the sequel and rightfully so. People complained about Lanterns not helping Jordan on Earth. I had a problem with too but that can be easily explained that after Parallax killed about 6 lanterns, they were afraid. Jordan wasnt and that why he was good. He was corageous.

This movie was great and i`ll probably going to see it tomorrow again.

No. The movie was great on its own. It was a perfect GL origin story. I had everything i wanted and more.

I would have liked the film a lot more if it didn't jump around so much. Bad pacing was my main problem with this.

I still enjoyed quite a bit of it though. Nowhere near as bad as the critics are making it out to be.

I guess you can't wrap up all the film's problems in just one review.

 One thing that made me really happy is that not every movie needs to be dark and serious like DK and this was a proof of that.

GL was a great ride and the 3D was awesome.

Yes, the main ones being bad writing and pacing.

Speaks volumes really. If there's so much to pick apart it's really bad film making.

Lol, Well to be fair there's been others dooming it from the start because of Reynolds casting.

I want to go into this film open minded but looking for faults could be distracting

My expectation for this movie were somewhat high even though it was getting bad reviews, as I was thinking that I might end up liking it anyway, but unfortunately I didn't. While I did enjoyed watching it, I was mostly bored throughout the movie and even the action scenes (which Campbell is capable of doing quite well at) were uninteresting.

The scenes taking place on Earth were largely dull though the parts with Jordan in Oa was entertaining to see. The VFX whilst flawed were not bad. No one from the cast truly impressed me so they're just decent.

And finally we come to the script, which I think is the weakest part of the movie, the problem is that it follows the same origin story as other movies, which is sad considering that it has a vast and (sort of) unique mythology at their advantage.

Overall, as much as I really tried to like this movie, I can't. It was a huge disappointment. :csad:

2/5

honestly, my viewing got some ovation aswell. My showing was packed and audience seemed to have responded nicely to the film. They laughed at the jokes, oooed and awed at the fights and ring constructs, and said eww at the ugliness of Hector.

I haven't seen the movie, but this? The sole criteria for becoming a Green Lantern is that you're either never afraid or you are but you fight regardless. What kind of cheap-ass version of Green Lanterns are these that they stay away from a fight cause they're scared!?

That's true, funny thing is I've noticed that even the haters have started to feel sorry for GL fans. I don't think anyone expected the reaction to be that harsh.

Who has brought up TDK or any Batman film? GL should be nowhere near dark as that, and I don't think anyone wants to see that.
