I just think both Parallax and Galatus are just too bug for one film. Also the film versions of these characters just the 'big bad' fart forces of evil which isn't compelling.

When are filmmakers going to get that Cloud monsters do not make good villains? It was a s**tty idea in FF: ROTSS and it was a s**tty idea in GL.

The Cloud monster was a s**tty villain and so was Hector Hammond.

The Fifth Element had a cloud villain but at least you had Gary Oldman there to entertain us!

The whole time watching it, it was as though Green Lantern symbolized Imodium, fighting Parallax, symbolizing a pile of poo.

Parralax is a lame villain anyway. It was only created to absolve Hal from all the blame when he went nuts.

There's a city, but it's never named. Really, outside of about 5 or 6 humans, nothing on Earth actually seems to matter.

But... one of the complaints is that too much of the action takes place on Earth. How can it not matter? Why is Parallax even interested in Earth for instance?

Oh, is there a Coast City in the movie?

It might have been mentioned on a newspaper(I don't really recall) but nobody mentions the name of the city the way they talk about Metropolis or Gotham City.

It's "generic modern western city" like the Matrix.

Who else thought it was a mistake to shoot in New Orleans? New Orleans to me work if it's actually Orleans. But besides the Frenh Quarter it has a very southern vibe you can't hide and a touch of sadness that I can't put my finger on.

They should have shot it in LA or San Diego.

Haha.

I was really anticipating what Itsjustsomerandomguy would do concerning this situation. He's pulling a RWJ. I'm more excited for next weeks video from him than the movie now. :oldrazz:

Everytime a poster says that Thor was a good movie my head explodes. To each his/her own though.

Anyway, Hal's Daddy issues were handled terribly.

He looks at picture of his father on the jet and crashes it because he has a terribly filmed flashback of his father exploding? God was the whole issue handled in the most inept way possible.

LOL that's really how it went down? So he's had a picture of his dad in his cockpit this whole time... but for some reason on this outing he has a flashback and crashes? How conveniant.

Parralax sucks, original Ion is what its all about.:word:

Were there any hints about other superheroes on Earth in the movie?

Yeah, too much of it takes place on Earth, where nothing much besides Hal being a ninny happens. Earth is where most of the hokey "I can't be a hero" crap takes place. How the appearance of this crazy powerful man suddenly affects the world never, ever comes into play. No one in the secret organization looks through a telescope and sees this huge cloud headed towards Earth. No news reports procliaming the end of the world, no rejoicing at the end. How Green Lanterns and Parallax and affect the world at large is never touched. Earth is basically a McGuffin.

And Parallax wants to attack Earth to rub it in for Hal, I guess. I can't think of a good reason for why he didn't just go straight for Oa, when that's who he's actually pissed off at.

I said it and I'll say it again. If it would've been Kyle instead of Hal... this movie would've killed! :hrt::woot:

Yes. It's a confusing and silly scene. Why did he have the picture in the cockpit if it was going to bring up all that old crap? Alot of stuff in the movie is like that.

From what I could gleam after reading that whole ark, those are my thoughts exactly.

Well yea that's pretty much it. Geoff Johns, the admitted Hal Jordan fanboy, didn't like the idea that his favourite character was something other than an awesome, infallible superhero.

So he creates Parralax, which it turns out was possessing Hal when he went nuts. Absolving Hal of all blame (and interesting character development)

It came to earth because Hal has the ring of the one that imprisoned it, so in essence Parallax was just been a petty ****er.
