just saw that a few minutes ago....the opening visuals were pretty cool. the rest of it looks decent for a short promo. i have no doubt that if they had more time and money it would've looked ace, but i loved the basic look/feel of that promo. very "Aliens"! my only REAL gripe is that the soldier's costumes didn't look very well put together. they look very clunky and loose...not very maneuverable.


other than that, i still don't know why the hell they decided to halt production. i'd love to see that kind of stuff on the big screen...

Halo

Halo fanatics still bummed over the implosion of the planned feature film based on Microsoft's blockbuster game series were treated to a little pick-me-up earlier this week. At their E3 press conference, Microsoft announced a series of Halo short films from Neill Blomkamp, the director who was set to helm the big-screen adaptation until it fell apart. The gritty, intensely action-packed shorts will have effects by Peter Jackson's WETA Workshop, who also had been involved with the movie's development.

Microsoft says these pieces will give a unique vision into the people, places, weapons and legends of Halo. They'll be released as a series throughout the summer, with the final installment timed to coincide with the launch of Halo 3 for Xbox 360.

Just the opposite, if these shorts get a big enough response, it might spur more interest in the movie, and thus, a higher chance that a studio would pick it up. We'll have to see how it all plays out.

The short live action Halo 3 trailer remined me more of ALIENS than it did of HALO, The visual style I mean.

Latino Review seems to love the script so I hope they film that script.

Peter Jackson and 20 Century FOX told us all HALO was postponed due to a lack of interest. No one believed that, but then the movie and all information about it disappeared from everyone's radar. HALO fans, as well as Peter Jackson fans felt let down and couldn't figure out how this project didn't make it.

Flash to E3 2007 where viewers and guests were treated to a trailer showing props that required a lot of work. We were then told it was just a promotional clip for Halo 3. No one asked why there was a LIVE ACTION clip to promote the game? Well XF did. Shortly after E3, images of full size Warthogs started popping up on the net. The public still didn't put 2 and 2 together. Now I know some of you did, but wanted proof to back up your theories.

Put your theories to rest. The movie is already in production. Those Warthogs are from the movie. D.B. Weiss (Lucky Wander Boy) handled the final script with Neill Blomkamp handling directing responsibilities. There really is a reason they came out of New Zealand. Think about it. Halo ... grassy rolling hills ... Peter Jackson? All we've learned so far is that the movie is set for release the Summer of 2008 and is planned to be heavily marketed. Again, this is confirmed. So sit back an relax Halo fans. Your movie is less than a year from being in theaters.

the above news story is obviously not true.

THEY ARE NOT FILMING A HALO MOVIE NOW, ONLY SHORTS

"In mid July bungie.net said that viewers could look forward to more shorts from director Blomkamp in the coming months"

so they are filming more shorts, they are not filming the movie. How could this movie come out summer of next year when the production needs to be huge, they started filming Dark Knight over a year before its coming out, but for a movie that needs a huge pre and post prodyctin on year, thats bullcrap.

the warthog is from the shorts, thats it. they are filming these shorts to come out in the next few months, they are nto working on a movie. if they are we wouldnt have learned about it from these obscure people. if the movie is going to come out soon proably 2009. cuz 2008 is unrealistic.

This rumor is just going to spread, when its not true.

maybe they are getting ready for shooting it next year, but for it to come out in 2008 is so unrealistic. and why isnt there a bigger source backnig this up.
