does MJ "need" to be in part 4? maybe she's taken a leave of absence from school and is in England or on the West Coast in a stage play..
before the comics wedding, MJ was not the "only" ladyfriend figure in Pete's life..
They can get into Pete's romance with Betty; Gwen; Deb Whitman, Black Cat, etc.

In SM1, he states that "This story is all about a girl..." (Mary Jane).
Not having her in it and having Peter starting a relationship with someone else is a bad idea.
It would be like having someone other than Lois Lane in a Superman film (Superman 3 was crap because of the lack of Lois...among other things).

I could see Peter and MJ getting married in the next movie or so, but at the same time, I could see Sony not having MJ kidnapped by the villian. I loved how they did this in the first two movies, and also loved it in the third one, too. But three times is enough.
So, if MJ is not kidnapped in SM4, then it takes a good 10-15 minutes off of her total screentime.

The beginning of the movie taking place at the college where Peter is with Dr.Connors as Dr.Connors lab assistant.Dr.Connors is telling Peter that this experiment(growing limbs)will be a major breakthrough in medicine.
Just before Dr.Connors injects himself with the serum,Peter asks Dr.Connors if they should do more tests before he injects himself with it.
Dr.Connors assures Peter that they have done more than enough tests to make sure it is already safe to test it on a human,and that's why Dr.Connors is gonna inject himself with the serum first.
After Dr.Connors injects himself with the serum,Peter asks how long will it take for the serum to work.Dr.Connors tells Peter that it could be anytime within the first 24 hours,but before Dr.Connors can finish his sentence,they both see that the serum is already taking effect.
Dr.Connors is seen regrowing his arm at a rapid rate.Afterwards he is over joyed,using his new arm as he writes with it,etc,talking about the future.Then all of a sudden Dr.Connors is screaming in pain as he transforms into the Lizard.
The Lizard tries to kill Peter,but because Peter is spidey,it turns into a big fight instead of a fast bloodbath.The fight takes place all over the college inside and out,and ends up into the sewers.
The fight ends when the Lizard turns back into Dr.Connors.But because there were lots of witnesses with camera phones etc. prooving what they saw was real,a certain character(Kraven)watching the news in some other country decides he is gonna go to New York to hunt this magnificent creature,that this creature will make an excellent trophy to his collection.
Later Peter is seen at Dr.Connors house having dinner with him and his family,after dinner the two of them go into another room and are talking about the experiment.Dr.Connors is trying to figure out what went wrong.
Dr.Connors tells Peter that they don't have to worry about him turning into this Lizard creature again since the serum is completly out of his system now.
When they are talking,they hear a sound of crashing glass and screaming.When Dr.Connors and Peter runs into the room where the sound came from,they see a note being held onto the wall with a big bowie knife.
The note says:I know you have something to with this Lizard creature,if you want to see your family alive again come alone to Central Park by 6:00 a.m. and release the Lizard creature
Dr.Connors runs out of the room and runs out the front door.Peter grabs onto Dr.Connors arm and says where are you going.Dr.Connors tells Peter that he has to go back to the university to get some more of the serum.
Peter says Dr.Connors you can't,you could kill someone.Dr.Connors says to Peter,if I don't my family will be killed.Peter tells Dr.Connors they should call the poilce.Dr.Connors yells at Peter that he if doesn't go alone,his family could be killed.
At 6:00 a.m. at Central Park we see Dr.Connors walking in the park looking for his family.Kraven jumps out of a tree and lands in front of Dr.Connors.Dr.Connors says,where is my family.
Kraven says,I told you to release the Lizard creature if you wanted to see them again.Dr.Connors tells Kraven that after he sees that his family is ok,then he will release the Lizard.
Kraven agrees,and leans down and pulls a tarp back off the ground that looks like real grass.The tarp was covering a deep hole in the ground where we see Mrs.Connors and Billy tied and gagged laying at the bottom of the hole.
Kraven pulls out a little ball the size of a marble abd says to Dr.Connors,if I don't see the Lizard creature right now I will drop this into the hole and your family will be gassed to death.
Dr.Connors says I will give you the Lizard in one minute.Kraven laughs and says you didn't bring the Lizard creature with you,I saw you didn't bring him.
Dr.Connors pulls out the serum out of his pocket and ejects himself with the serum and says,I did bring the Lizard with me.
Kraven laughs and says,you think I'm joking little man.And Kraven tosses the ball into the ground.As the gas is filling the hole with smoke and the smoke is rising out of the hole and going into the sky,a web comes out of the tree and it attaches to Dr.Connors family,and spidey pulls them out of the hole and into safety.
Kraven looks and sees spidey in the tree,and runs over and grabs the web
and pulls spidey out of the tree.After spidey hits the ground Kraven punches him and pulls out a bowie knife and is about to kill spidey with it.
Until the Lizard appears and jumps onto Kraven.Kraven and the Lizard are fighting when spidey goes over to untie Dr.Connors family.Afterwards spidey joins in the fight where everyone is against everyone(no teamups this time).
After the fight Kraven is killed and the serum has been out of Dr.Connors body again.
But later on an old villain(Doc Ock) returns to try and kill spidey.And spidey is also framed for the murder of the mayor.As spidey is trying to solve who is framing him,he battles Doc Ock again.
But what spidey ends up finding at the end is that Doc Ock is the one who framed him.And Doc Ock isn't Doc Ock.It's Chameleon disguised as Doc Ock seeking revenge blaming spidey for the death of his brother Kraven.
Chameleon actually wears the robotic tentacles that Doc Ock worn.He got them from the place they were being stored at.After spidey defeats Chameleon,spidey is cleared of the murder of the mayor,but Chameleon is sent to prison for the it.

Blader5489 i like your idea. that's actually how i would like to see the movie, for the most part.
i like the idea of kraven finding out about peter from the bugle and all, but mj would have to have a bigger part in the story. i dont' think gwen should kiss peter, we've already seen that, if peter and mj are to get married then i don't think having somebody having a full interest in him would be a wise decision. i think it would be better if maybe she became a friend to mary jane would work well, her having issues about peter from part 3 would make sense. capt stacy dieing works well, somebody well known enough dies in each movie and that would be similar to how he died in the comics.
i like that warren would be involved with conners without having ties to the jackal, reminds me of the first movie where norman osborn was talking to dr stromm, who in the comics became the robot master. might as well use characters from the comics without them turning into a villain instead of making up ones that dont seem as original.
i think maybe lizard kidnapping his own son instead would work better instead of having some girl as a victim in peril. having fraven kidnap his wife and son would seem better.
things i want for sure in part 4:
1. kraven's last hunt being played out (including peter climbing from the grave)
2. lizard being the main villain, having warren as his assistant and his wife and son both being involved somehow
3. mary jane and peter getting engaged in the beginning and married at the end with conners present
4. opening action scene with a dangerous shocker being apprehended by spider-man in more than a 2 minute scene (i like the idea of stacey and spidey being written about by jameson)
5. perhaps aunt may finding out about peter and coming to terms with it
6. capt stacey bravely dieing saving conners son
7. it'd also be funny to see jameson have some sort of change in heart about spider-man, maybe gwen defending his honor to his face and he ends up speechless with robbie and betty chuckling, then hoffman laughs and jameson glares at him and he shuts up
8. grand finale swing with camera work reminiscent of the first film (following more closely on spidey's movements as opposed to being far away) with the swing ending with him meeting up with mary jane, lifting his mask over his mouth to kiss her, and swing away with her into the darkening sunset

Yeah, I know. That outline was just the superhero half of my story. I'm still working on the personal angle that involves Peter, MJ, and Gwen.

i know who martha is, but having billy, his son involved with her being kidnapped works better, and then lizard taking just billy into the sewers is better as well

This is exactly how I'd do Spider-Man 4. I even talked about this scenerio before I knew this book was even written. Except I had it on a tropical Island.

The central theme for SM4 would be the idea of rising from your defeats and picking up the pieces of your life. "Redemption" would be apparent throughout each character's journey.
Peter Parker:
Peter has suffered more tragedies in the past few years than most people do in a lifetime. He has learned to pick up the pieces of his life and move forward, always keeping his promise to his Uncle and to the city. However, when the Lizard is born, Peter finds himself conflicted between his two identities. Should he take down the villainous monster or try and save his mentor? When he chooses the latter, the city turns against Spider-Man and he quickly becomes Public Enemy #1. As Spider-Man, Peter is hitting a new low and must fight through his personal demons and the hate from the city to rise up and become the hero he was meant to be.
Lizard:
When Dr. Connors transforms into the Lizard, his life is shattered in an instant. His family torn apart by the hysteria surrounding his own existence and his career in education down the toilet, Connors' life seems over. Each moment he remains as the Lizard, his mind slips further and further into insanity. When he kidnaps his own son and puts his life in danger, Connors begins to fight for control and accepts the help of Spider-Man to redeem his life and set things right.
Electro:
Max Dillion was always told throughout his life that he wasn't good enough. Living in a shoddy apartment with little income, Dillion's life turns around when he is caught in the middle of a freak accident when repairing damaged wires at an OsCorp facility. As Electro, Dillion begins to use his powers for personal gain, trying to prove his worth. When the Daily Bugle posts a reward for the capture of Spider-Man in response to his aid with the Lizard, Electro sees an opportunity to get fame and fortune. (Electro's story is a twisted concept of redemption, showing the selfish nature of those who misuse their power to better themselves).
I would rather have Max Dillion and Peter not be connected and rather focus on the connection between Connors and Peter. Dillion's only connection to Peter would be that their struggles are similar, but both go about redemption in different ways. As Electro, however, Dillion is seen hunting Spider-Man.
Mary Jane:
Mary Jane would have a big part in the film, however, she would not be kidnapped at the end. She should be present at the final battle (perhaps behind police barricades or in the distant watching Peter fight in horror). Peter would fear for MJs life throughout the film, knowing that the Lizard is on the loose and that Peter (not Spider-Man) has connections with Connors and that they may be victims of an attack. This overprotecting behavior drives a wedge between the two, which results to MJ seeking her mother in upstate NY. MJ's mom convinces MJ that what she and Peter has is special and that if she wants it, she's going to have to fight for it.
Aunt May:
Aunt May would also have a significant role in SM4. Aunt May alludes more that she knows Peter's secret identity and even at one point confronts him about it. May also provides wisdom and advice for Peter when he struggles.
Gwen Stacy:
Gwen Stacy will be in the film, but a smaller part. Peter and MJ have enough problems on their plates and don't need a love interest to muck it up even more. Gwen would be more a friend to Peter, perhaps filling the void that is left when Harry died?

Gwen Stacy will be in the film, but a smaller part. Peter and MJ have enough problems on their plates and don't need a love interest to muck it up even more. Gwen would be more a friend to Peter, perhaps filling the void that is left when Harry died?

^I agree,as much as I want to see Electro in the spidey movies,Electro hunting the Lizard just doesn't seem to fit.

Revenge and fighting the darkness was the theme for SM3.
Hence making Sandman Uncle Ben's killer. And making Harry attack Peter personally. And including the symbiote to multiply every angry feeling by 100.

Electro wouldn't be hunting Lizard, he'd be hunting Spider-Man. "Hunting" is a bad word for it.
In my script treatment (which I'm writing now), Electro wants to better his life. When he sees there's a reward for Spider-Man, he goes after it, hoping for fame and fortune and prove to those who said he wasn't worth anything that he is more.
I understand why people would want Kraven since he fits in well with Lizard's storyline, but I just don't like him overall as a character. Too...strange, is the best word I can come up with.

Uh, the story was about redemption. Sandman redeemed himself, Harry redeemed himself, Peter redeemed himself.

Redemption is the aftermath of SM3. Peter doesn't really fully redeem himself. He begins to when he takes the costume off and when he tries to mend his relationship with MJ at the end, but that doesn't show us any conclusion.
And Sandman never redeemed himself either. Redeeming yourself would be helping Spider-Man or turning yourself in for your sins. Sandman did not. He said sorry and left.

I`d go with Lizard and Kraven.
The plot progression is simple...
Curt Conners accidently turns himself into the lizard.
Spidey tries to defeat this new monster discovers after first fight that it is his mentor conners.
Conners family distraught. Curt`s life falls apart. Peter tries to find his mentor to save him from himself.
Kraven arrives in new york to hunt the greatest beast anyone has ever heard of. Boasts to media as to how he will capture the lizard.
Kraven tracks down the lizard and attacks. Kraven vs Lizard. Spidey turns up and stops kraven from delivering a killing blow to lizard. Lizard flees. Spidey faces off against kraven.
Both try to find the lizard. Peter devlops serum to turn conners back to normal. Spidey finds lizard and administers an antidote. Conners returns to normal.
Peter takes him home. The house has been broken into. His family have been kidnapped by Kraven to bring the Lizard to him.
Spidey goes to resuce them. Conners is wracked with guilt and he uses his experiment to turn himself back into the lizard.
Spidey vs kraven. The enraged lizard arrives. Lizard vs spidey vs kraven. Lizard knocks kraven down and raises a clawed hand to kill kraven. He resists though proving he is no longer a mindless beast. Spidey has kraven arrested.
The only prob is how strong spidey is in the comics compared to kraven but i`m sure they could find some way to explain how kraven could fight lizard and spidey.
The lizard electro combo doesn`t work as well in my opinion because firstly you would need two accidents granting powers for villains in one movie. Secondly the team-up or face-off aspect doesn`t work as well. Why would lizard team-up with electro? Or if you go the other way why would electro want to harrass/hunt lizard? It just doesn`t seem to be as sensible a pairing as kraven the hunter and lizard. Hunter and prey. With spidey trying to protect the prey.

I'd love to see a future sequel deal with Mysterio, since he was one of my all-time favorite villains. They could have one of the women in Peter's life (MJ, Gwen, Betty Brant, Ursula, or even Aunt May) get stuck in some sort of deadly "illusionary trap", which requires Peter to use both brains and brawn to beat the magical maniac.

Dr. Connors begins studying reptiles and how they can regenerate a lost limb and decides to develop a serum that will duplicate this ability in humans. Connors creates a serum that successfully regenerates a leg on a rabbit and immediately decides that the next step is to test it on a human, and who better to test it on than himself? Connors downs the serum and feels a strange sensation in his right shoulder. Instantly, he grows a new arm, but immediately, the new arm suddenly grows green and scaly, then the rest of Connors goes green and scaly. He leaves his lab and runs out into the night.
Three guys are hanging out on the street when a human-sized lizard approaches them. The three men run for their lives. After this encounter, the story of "Lizard" sweeps the city. Peter learns that Connors is Lizard and goes down into the sewers to track him, as Lizard fights Spider-Man and escapes. That night, Peter begins trying to make a serum to transform Lizard back into Connors.
Lizard goes into the streets of New York, where the NYPD are waiting for him. Out of the corner of their eyes, they spot a mysterious creature. The men then begin to chase after the creature. The figure turns back and fights them, taking them out. MJ is passing by when she notices the figure swinging away. She turns pale and quickly heads for cover.
The next day, Peter visits Aunt May. As they leave to go shopping, Eddie Brock is waiting for Peter outside Aunt May's door. Eddie is polite to Aunt May, asking if he and Peter can discuss business. Aunt May tells Peter to talk to his friend and that they'll go shopping later. As Eddie and Peter walk out of earshot, we go through a flashback and learn that the symbiote rebonded with Eddie before the pumpkin bomb exploded and threw him out of Peter's sight. Eddie tells Peter to meet him at an estate tomorrow and promises that nobody will get hurt. Peter tells Eddie to leave Aunt May out of this, to which Eddie replies that she's too innocent, agreeing to not harm her.
