Iron Man 3 The Official IM3 Trailer Thread! - Part 1

@-JKR-, exactly what i was about to say, dude, go watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, I don't think we gotta worry about that...

@Mr.M - what were the 'good ones' in TDKR?... that's a pretty low bar to set for any measure of wit. I'd trust Shane Black to bring it on that level, and RDJ sure doesn't hurt.
but wow, TDKR? "wait, my wife?" guffaw guffaw. "yes, it comes in black" hahhhhhhfffhhhh. haha. i heard Three's Company needs a scriptwriter, maybe one of the Nolans or Goyer can go help out with that.

To be fair Talia and Bane's death scenes are funny, now THAT's humor! :woot:

they also aren't familiar with any villains before Ledger's joker either....

I don't like to get into those sort of discussions anymore. Sooner or later, they'll end up as infinite flamefests, and I'm too lazy to get into stuff like that. But even as a fan of Christopher Nolan's Batman movies - yes, including The Dark Knight Rises - I think people should simply let go sometimes. Not anything reaches back to what he did, and Heath Ledger's Joker, etc.

They have a strong enough writer and director on board who doesn't need to look back at last week's movie to come up with his own.

There's one thing I think people getting into "comic book movies" could and should learn: that there's no such thing as a template when doing these movies.

We're also talking about the writer of Lethal Weapon, Monster Squad (co-written with Fred Dekker), The Last Boy Scout and The Long Kiss Goodnight (partially The Last Action Hero, but he only did rewrites, which were subsequently rewritten, so...) - and NONE of them lacked humor... OR STORY!

Nolan invented everything. He especially invented the Guy Interrogates Other Guy In Interrogation Room scene, apparently. and the Car Chase In A Tunnel.
how'd he think of that stuff, woooooooo?

he also invented the Conflicted Protagonist and the classic Double Cross but in Nolanese - Random Woman You Slept With Turns Out Not To Be Random Woman Who Runs Your Company But Instead, Random Woman Who Shares A Portion Of DNA With Man You've Fought Before.

piece of resistance, Nolan, piece of resistance.

You also just described half the bond girls, haha

haha, i guess you're right, that's actually funny.
imagine that, James Bond is eating off Nolan's plate too. hmmmm ;(

You gotta give him credit for raising the bar, though, and have him bring classic conventions, a keen eye for story and other elements to blockbusters again.
And before him, Sam Raimi brought such movies back to an emotional place again.

Tired of every villain being compared to Heath Ledger's Joker. Am I the only one who saw Wrath of Khan, Silence of the Lambs, Dr. No, Goodfellas, Apocalypse Now, No Country for Old Men, Good the Bad and the Ugly, Sexy Beast, or Die Hard. Nolan didn't invent the kooky yet well spoken villain. Some of these kids to diversify their movie libraries.

I agree. But that's an argument which one could use for every kind of topic in these kind of forums. :cwink:

True, I agree.
But it is different when the director himself cites Ledger as an influence.

The cool things about Iron Man 3. It showed more footage. You see all the Iron Man backups and also the realistic tone in this film. So much destruction, and the villain is just too hard to kill. I wanna see this movie

@=JKR- last note for Nolan from on this thread, but the guy's great, i love what he's done, there's plenty i could say, but it's all me just whinging.
he's a visionary, for sure, and he has the force of will to carry it out, and bless him in the future, it's just fun to joke about the way some people look at him. he's a bad ass cat in my book.
more to say about him elsewhere... ::)

@superman61413 - yeah, that's what hit me about this trailer too, is that for the first time, i think i got a feeling about what they mean to set up between him and Mandarin, and i'm hoping the destruction plays out as heavy as it looks in the trailer.

this actually hints at something far exceeding what I'd hoped for the movie and I was already pretty high on it. can't wait til May...

I think Kingsley is going to give us a superb Mandarin. I just hope he lives.

It's going to suffer the Joker rehash syndrome. No other way around it.

Because every Marvel villian is just a rehash of Joker. :o

So sick of these troll posts.

And there's no such connection here other than people wanting to troll the boards. In the clip there is NOTHING remotely close to the Joker. I can't believe I'm even discussing it. It never once occured to me until someone said that Kingsley was doing nothing but copying Heath's performance. What a crock.

I don't think they seriously felt that way they were just trying to drum up crap.

I love Ben Kingsley as Mandarin. He is just so menacing, even with that voice in that trailer. He is just cool is when he wears sunglasses in the promo pics. I find that cool, because I know he is an ancient villain but he wears sunglasses??? Wow he's just a badass.

I want to know if his rings doing anything. They look good anyway.

I can't get the "You'llllll neveeeerrrrr see meeee cominnnngg" line out of my head. It's so catchy.

i mean, they got to do something,
i couldn't imagine them having a fight and him never doing anything with his rings
