Iron Man 3 The Official IM3 Trailer Thread! - Part 1

^ i would be very dissapointed if Mandarin was just a mastermind controlling extremis puppets....
he needs to pack a punch and go one on one with Tony

I wonder where WM/IP is in this scene

Nolan invented everything. He especially invented the Guy Interrogates Other Guy In Interrogation Room scene, apparently. and the Car Chase In A Tunnel.
how'd he think of that stuff, woooooooo?

he also invented the Conflicted Protagonist and the classic Double Cross but in Nolanese - Random Woman You Slept With Turns Out Not To Be Random Woman Who Runs Your Company But Instead, Random Woman Who Shares A Portion Of DNA With Man You've Fought Before.

piece of resistance, Nolan, piece of resistance.

Hahah this was effin' great.

Really loved the new trailer, i'm all excited for this! Anticipating it even more now :woot:

damn, i was worried when i heard about the Iron Man army thing, first piece of news on this that gave me any doubt about it, but, wow, after seeing that bit in the trailer, i am silenced on that.
seriously bad ass, haha. can't wait for this...

I don't know about his case, but for very many of the posters on sites like this, it's because they don't have a very diverse or amount of movies to compare them too. I've been around for a long long time and have seen thousands of movies....there are a lot of anarchist villains out there.

We can go down the pantheon of villanic characters in Hollywood, but people have a short attention span. Likewise, the general public is going to compare this to what has come recently, not 30 year's from now, and it's the same genre, so you can't just not acknowledge what has recently preceded.

I hope there is enough there to differentiate Mandarin from the Jokers and Banes of the world, aside from physical/exterior appearance, to make him an original character that is unique, and not a ripoff of this and that. We have to see the presentation before we give them the benefit of the doubt. As of now, IM 1/2 had some incredibly weak villains, not by the source material, but by the writing and lack of depth of these characters. Superficial motives and lack of character development have plagued the villains of this franchise thus far.

I'm not sure why people keep saying that Black said Joker was his influence. To me, that's not even close to what he said. He mentioned that he was always interested in how a villain is adapted for film because certain elements need to be different from the comics. He then cited Joker as a recent example of a successful adaptation that was different.

Not the same thing as saying Mandarin is influenced by Joker.

Exactly. Clearly there's a change from Mandarin from the comics, but then again there was an even bigger change in Vanko who was kind of an amalgomation of Crymson Dynamo and Whiplash from the comics.

I think Black is trying to take something in the comics that was rooted in "Red China" and take it to a more modern place. Just the same way that the comics had Tony getting his shrapnel accident in Vietnam, where the movies took place in Afghanistan.

People keep saying that Kingsley talking slow is taken from Ledger? I guess people watching Ledger's performance, think he did that all by himself and wasn't influenced by movies like The Shining and such.

what he meant where is the WM/IM armor in that scene

I hope hope hoooope that the final battle scene involves Tony armour-jumping....summoning all of them there and going between certain armours for certain battle circumstances.

Standing down there with Tony?

looks like we see that when Tony jumps onto a silver armor (Mark I 0r II?) and then the armor opens up and then forms around him which is now commonplace after Avengers.

I wasn't sure if I was going to before, but I might do a midnight viewing for this film. This trailer really sold it for me. :D:up:

Man, there are probably going to be more toys for Iron Man 3, than all Marvel Movies combined.

voice wise Mandy reminds me of Bane.. which actually gets me MORE pumped because I [frick]ing loved Bane. now I gotta go watch TDK and TDKR again lol.

The stuttering kinda throws me off. Bane's voice on the other hand. Pure badassness. I need to see more of Kingsley. Sort of went overboard with this monologue. First trailer was more subdued and believable.

Yeah we've only heard maybe 5 or 6 lines of his dialouge so I assume there's a lot more badassery in store for Mandy in this film. Going into TDKR I didn't look at any spoiler/trailers because I wasn't too interested and didn't want to be spoiled, I only knew people hated Banes voice and were calling him BINO (Bane in name only) so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once I saw the movie: holy crap I love him, so scary and intimidating in voice and body type haha.

Well, he does consider himself a teacherrrrrrrrrr.

I just saw the trailer and, in all honesty.......meh
It gives a IM2 vibe, and IM2 was a pile of crap.
For example, this

With all the armors and whatnot, Hulkbuster, Stealth, Silver Sentry... it just doesn't do it for me.
I don't get excited by this all nerd/fanboy wet dream, and i've been reading comics since i was just a small child.
I care more about the man behind the mask than all the explosions in the world.
