Probably because they weren't ready yet. It happens. But this could be for all the better. Atleast things are moving forward. The cast, the script, sets are being built as we speak, Winston working on the armor design, etc.

First page updated with the announcement of Jeff Bridges joining the cast.

New Downey interview.
Downey Jr. Has Nerd-Gasms About Iron Man
Source: Advanced Dark

February 8, 2007

Style.com chatted with Robert Downey Jr. about his new role in David Fincher's Zodiac but also a bit about Iron Man. Here's a clip:

With his gray hairs and squint lines, Downey comes off as a battle-hardened veteran alongside Gyllenhaal's dewy ingenue. Which makes it all the more remarkable that now, at this stage in his career, he's about to don a superhero suit. To say he's excited is an understatement. "I have f---ing nerd-gasms about this type of stuff," he enthuses. Iron Man is a billionaire named Tony Stark who, after a terrible injury, makes himself a mechanical bodysuit and goes out to save the world. Downey considers the role a sort of gift from the universe now that he has reached a point in his life where he can handle it. Still, he is grateful that the $100 million production will be shot entirely in California, allowing him to stay close to his wife and the rest of a support network that includes a shrink, a sensei and assorted healing therapists. "Once you have that support, you know, why would you fare as well without it?" he asks. "It's like, you know, if you become a more effective engine, you need more maintenance."

It's been confirmed that there will be three films, with this one being the first, and Rhodes will eventually be donning the War Machine armor.

I think this movie could go ether way I mean when I think of the director Im like this movie will probably suck cause this guy has directed nothing but kids movies. Zathura and Elf.

I'm just going to wait until the trailer or teaser comes out before I make any predictions about this movie. However, I suggest go into this movie with low expectations. It helps most of the time.

First page updated with Shaun Toub now joining the cast. Who he'll be playing has yet to be confirmed.

Batman has it been said where they are shooting?

Any word on ILM? Will they be working on the effects?

IMDB has had John Debney listed as composer for IM for many months. AICN reveals it's not a done deal.

From AICN

Scorekeeper: Speaking of stuff that might happen. I was elated to hear your name being mentioned for IRON MAN (2008). What’s the situation there?

John Debney: Well…I’m hoping to do it. We’ve had some discussions. There’s been no official “sign on the dotted line” but I’ve done Faverau’s last two movies. He’s just now starting to film. When the time is right I’m sure we’ll be having some discussions.

I would dearly love to do it. IRON MAN is very near and dear to my heart. When I was a kid that was my favorite superhero.

No mention of Sabbath yet.

First page updated with the revealing of Bridges playing Obadiah Stane/The Iron Monger.

Thanks for all of the great info! I just got on the IM bandwagon when my friend told me the kind of cast they were putting together. OMG! This movie is going to be frickin' AWESOME! I hope something like this makes it into the film:

It would make me so very very happy. :woot:

Cheers, everybody!

This looks awesome! Something i'd imagine Clark Kent doing (changing in to Superman) but still.
Favreau mentioned that he'll be visiting ILM:
Thanks Batman.
In all the excitement over the cast (and rightfully so) people seem to have forgotten what an excellent crew Marvel and Favreau have assembled.

Yeah...I think the crew on the film is really one of a kind.

Gwyneth Paltrow Returns To Big Screen In "Iron Man"

March 15, 2007 5:23 a.m. EST

Maira Oliveira - All Headline News Reporter
Los Angeles, CA (BANG) - Gwyneth Paltrow is set to star in the upcoming "Iron Man," based on the comic book series.

The mother-of-two is set to play Virginia "Pepper" Potts, the executive assistant to Iron Man's regular alter ego, billionaire industrialist Tom Stark.

The 34-year-old will star alongside Robert Downey Jr. - who will play the armor-clad hero - in the Jon Favreau-directed film, due to be released in May 2008.

Kevin Feige, president of production for Marvel Studios, said, "Gwyneth is the embodiment of a leading lady. She brings intelligence, poise and an incredible range of talent to this role."

Meanwhile, Paltrow's husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, is a huge fan of the Marvel superhero and has reportedly dished out on hundreds of copies of "Iron Man" comics to help his wife research her character.
