Iron Man The Official Iron Man FAQ

An update about Comic Con. I'm crediting Advanced Dark for the find, because he was the one to ask Favreau for an update in the first place.

I'm going to participate in the Marvel panel at Comicon on Saturday. We'll come up with something fun but, keep in mind, we're two years out so don't expect too much.

We've just approved an "Ironworks" tee shirt for the Paramount booth. I guess they're going to have tee shirts with different Paramount movies on them. The Iron Man one is very understated and cool. The numbers will be limited each day, so keep that in mind if you're a swag hag.

All in all, I want to get my feet wet. Next year will be the big one for Iron Man.

-Jon Favreau

Great FAQ Batman, just like the one in the Batman Sequel forum.

And thanks for the update, and a special thanks to AD for asking Favs. :)

BTW, who the hell is Christian Kane?

No one. Favreau hasn't said a word about casting yet. Nor having anyone specific in mind, or meeting with anyone interested in the role. Christian Kane isn't associated with the film, it was someone who wrote on wikipedia that he was. There isn't any truth to it whatsoever.

Batman awsome, have you seen batman begins? thats a cool movie, i hope they make a seond one, they should, becasue i want too see it

There will be one. Check the Batman Sequel FAQ I made for more.

Another great FAQ, Bats. :D

Thanks a bunch for making it.

When do you think we'll actually hear some casting news?

Considering filming is possibly going to begin in January, I'd say sometime around late October through December. Though I'd like to hear more about what the script cotains before that happens.

I agree, I hope we start hearing something round October.

I hopw we also get some new info from Comic Con!

I doubt we'll get anything official. The film isn't coming out for 2 years, and Favreau even mentioned not to expect anything that jaw dropping.

The first page has been updated with the filming date.

Yeah, I agree totally. I think that's plenty of time to get someone who could really bring Tony to life. :D

Has Favs talked about the suits purpose in the film? Like why Tony makes it?

Yes. Favreau mentioned before that the reason for the suit would be life support.

I am amazed by Batman's knowledge. Could Batman's alter ego be Jon Favreau? Never knew much about Iron Man, but a film about him does peak my interest. Aren't War Machine and Iron Man pretty much the same thing? One's just yellow and the other is gray?

No. They aren't the same. Even though it was Stark himself who designed the suit. Through the years, War Machine's armor was a creation of Stark Industries, and then later deprived from an alien type built suit. The War Machine armor is more heavily armed. Though since that was two or three iterations ago I'd imagine it's less heavily armed now.

Iron Man's armor is more versiable, like a swiss army knife. While War Machine's is more mission specific, made for well-war. However, both suits contain weapons such as repolsor rays, uni-beam, a force shield, etc.

How do you store all this knowledge of comic books in your brain, Batman?

Awesome, and I agree with that. Def the way to go. Thanks Bats.

I wonder if Jon talked about this whole "Christian Kane" scenario.

He actually did.

Jon Favreau said:
First of all, I have no idea who Christian Kane is.

Tony Stark will most likely not be "unknown." He will most likely be an actor who we hire because of the merits of his ability and body of work and not his marquee value. When you work for a studio they have lists of names of stars that they feel can open a movie. We have no such list. On Iron Man, casting is purely a function of who is best for the role. It might be a star, it might be an unknown. We will do a search, but my guess is the role will end up going to someone with experience. There are many great actors out there who have been in movies but who are not considered bankable stars. It is great to have the freedom to go in any of these directions.

I hope this clarifies everything.
