Iron Man The Official Iron Man FAQ

Cool, repulsor rays, force fields. Guess I missed out on the Iron Man craze. Is War Machine a villain?

No, he isn't a villain. War Machine is James Rhodes, and one of Iron Man's closest allies. Rhodes first met Stark when Tony was in Vietnam, and Rhodes' aircraft had been shot down. After the two took down a warlord named Wong Chu, and flew back to America, Stark offered him a job as his own personal pilot. For a short time as well, Rhodes took on the persona of Iron Man when Tony lost Stark Industries and was dealing with his alcohol problem.

Thanks for the heads up about Christian Kane. Favreau really is the only guy for IM, he just knows what he's doing. Glad it's all cleared.

This is a wonderful FAQ. Thank you, Batman. :O

Does anyone know where it is people get to ask Mr. Favreau questions?

I've added a section for San Diego Comic Con on the first page. With it, is what people can expect if they're going to be there.

Is there any info on filming locations? Has Favreau said anything about that?

The first page has been updated, with the confirmation of Mandarin as the villain. Also, the teaser poster can be seen in the Comic Con section. In case anyone hasn't viewed it yet.

It's not 100% related to the movie, but here's an Iron Man related article that I found:

Marvel to premiere new 'Iron Man' TV cartoon before big screen film

UPI News Service, 07/22/2006

Marvel's "Iron Man" cartoon will debut on TV next fall, months before the Jon Favreau-helmed film "Iron Man" is slated to premiere, Daily Variety reports.

Marvel announced the "Iron Man" cartoon plans at a party unveiling new Marvel-inspired Hasbro toys at a convention in San Diego, the newspaper said.

The strategy for "Iron Man" is similar to that of the "Fantastic Four" franchise, which was adapted for television and will appear on Cartoon Network next month.

The live-action film "Fantastic Four 2," produced by 20th Century Fox, is slated to hit theaters in June 2007.

In a strategy to build interest in the character (especially to the younger crowd), Marvel is moving ahead rather intelligently. :)

Agreed. The animated show could be a great promotion for the movie. Especially for people who know nothing of the character, or watched the old cartoon series before, hopefully it will get them interested.

Nice find.

Im tellin ya dawg Avi Arad knows wut he's doing! Doing this movie with Jon an getting the animated series started. he's done a great job bringing these marvel charecters an bringing them into this generation. An with him opening up his new Production company we can be sure to c greater things for the future!!!

Favreau is thrilled about having Arad devote his time toward the film.

First page updated. Following Activision's departure from no longer developing, the Iron Man video game.

I've updated the first page with Favreau's mentioning of Obadiah Stane being in the film.

i love the idea of the new cartoon because the old one was friggin sweet. i'm hopin they release the old one on dvd now that the movie is coming out and everything. let's just pray that they dont' jack up iron man like so many of these superhero movies like elektra and stuff where they just crank it out because superheroes sell. if they do iron man justice (similar to how wb restarted batman) then this will be sweet

I loved both the old and 90's animated series. Hopefully both the animated Iron Man film, and new animated series will catch people's interest. Especially with the younger genre. Also preparing the character well enough, for when the film comes out.

The first page has been updated. With the Terrence Howard rumor, of being offered the part of Jim Rhodes.

He would be a great choice. Howard is an excellent actor.

Interesting news about Terrence Howard being offered the role of James Rhodes. Howard is a fine actor.

Indeed. He had a decent performance in Crash. Honestly, he's one of the choices that have exceeded the rest. Even though there have been a lot of good candidates listed. Not to mention I could easily see him donning the War Machine armor. Hopefully Favreau will give some more confirmation on it.

It would be a little odd that supporting roles are cast before Iron Man himself is cast.

I wouldn't mind that. I would rather Favreau took his time in finding the right actor for Stark. Also to capture the basis of Iron Man. Especially with the way he'll be introducing him in the film, and to people who know nothing about the character.

It really isn't a bad way to go about casting.

Actually, I'm a little suprised that Favreau hasn't tried resurrect the Daredevil franchise.
