Square Enix The Official Kingdom Hearts Thread

I was playing Birth by Sleep, which I beat with Aqua. I decided to play as Terra, but I got to the final boss and was getting wrecked. I am going to have to restart from my last save point (which I did just before the final fights start) and grind a bit I think. I have to play as Ventus still.

That said, BBS is a good game, but it falls short in 2 areas for me: 1 - Gameplay. The controls are stiff and you basically can beat any later boss by spamming dodge and getting 1 or 2 attacks in. Gets tedious. 2 - Not epic enough. I get that this was not on a console that could match KH and KHII, but the game is a prequel and it has epic moments important to the series happening, and yet it feels basically like just a story about 3 friends. It doesn't feel like a real journey. The levels also feel small.

Once I got stuck and didn't want to grind, I decided to start Dream Drop Distance on my PS4. I like this game a lot more. I am on the final boss for Sora and close to it with Riku. Gameplay is 100 times better and the levels feel large. Yeah there are nitpicks on a few, but the levels feel much longer and more expansive. The story is convoluted, though (but the KH mythology is beyond convoluted at this stage). I also have to say the Symphony of Sorcery stage might be one of my favorite KH levels in ANY of the games. That was imaginative and the boss fight for Sora was very fun! Loving this one

Yes, Spider-Fan. There is just something about the handheld ports that are just not going to live up to the console games. And those two areas are a rather big deal when you play all the games collected.

I still haven't played the 3DS game. I have been curious how that one is on consoles. Your words are very heartening.

Dream Drop Distance has the Command Deck that was used in BBS, but it plays much more like KHII than BBS does. Much smoother game play. The PS4 port on the game is strong.

I will say at least BBS is better than Chain of Memories. I just cannot get into Chain of Memories at all, and it is all about the faulty game play for why I cannot, LOL!

Nice.

Yeah... I tried Chain of Memories back in the day. My brother bought it. Never again. :o

I think these remasters might be the only games I care enough about to try for Platinum with trophies on. Gonna aim for it. I just finished synthesizing everything in my normal mode play through.

So I started my first go round ever of Re:Chain of Memories. I beat the original years ago...and my god was it better as a GBA game. It's honestly an incredibly frustrating experience in the remade version. I'm not entirely sure if I'll finish it or not.

Kingdom Hearts III TGS 2018 Aqua boss battle gameplay, information tidbits
Published 7 hours ago. 49 comments.
A battle against Aqua on aqua.

KH3-Gameplay-Sora-Aqua_09-22-18.jpg

Square Enix debuted first footage of an Aqua boss battle in Kingdom Hearts III as well as new information during a stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2018.

Here are the information tidbits:

  • Although Kingdom Hearts III is the end of the Xehanort Saga, it not the end of Kingdom Hearts. Director Tetsuya Nomura said he wants to continue Sora’s story.
  • Kingdom Hearts III‘s Gummi Ship was created by a dedicated team of 20 to 30 people. There are two modes: Exploration Mode and Cardboard Mode. Exploration Mode lets you freely explore an open-world-style, extremely spacious cosmos. In Cardboard Mode, cardboard, gems, sweets, and more appear as materials for Gummi Ship customization.
  • There are more than 20 mini-games.
  • There will be a secret movie. However, they are looking at different means of implementing it in order to prevent spoilers. This does not mean making the requirements to see the movie more difficult—rather, they are thinking about something like releasing it at a later date as downloadable content.
  • Online elements will be considered after work on the main story has been completed. They are looking over proposals.
  • Character ages:
    • Terra: Around 20 years-old
    • Aqua: Around 18 years-old
    • Ventus: Around 16 years-old
    • Young Xehanort: Between 18 and 20 years-old
    • Master Xehanort: Mid-80s
  • There are more than 10 worlds in the game, according to co-director Tai Yasue.
Kingdom Hearts III is due out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29.

Are all the games playable or is it a compilation of cinematics? I would get this if I could actually play 358/2 Days

Both 358/2 Days and re:Coded are still cinematics.

More re-releases. Because that's what we wanted.

Seriously, what do they hope to accomplish with this many re-issues? How much money are they possibly making off this?

I don’t even think it’s coming out for Xbox, which it desperately needs to if you want people playing KH3 on Xbox One to understand what’s going on.

This and the how convoluted the story has become are my main gripes about this franchise.
