the official late night with conan o'brien thread

There's a pretty good majority of female guests(and Jeff Goldbloom) who seem to flirty with Conan.. He must have some sort of animal magnetism.

Its weird, specially how his style is to make himself look like a loser. His wife is pretty good looking, too. I'd say its definetely his sense of humor and intelligence

Did you see the interview with the victoria secret model?

Nah I missed that. I've never seen his wife either, I don't think.

Letterman Sticking with CBS
'Late Show' host signs extension through 2010

It looks like David Letterman will be keeping his home at CBS, and in much less dramatic fashion than the last time his contract was up for renewal.

The "Late Show" host is reportedly close to extending his contract with CBS through the 2009-10 season, which would be his 17th at the network. Its terms aren't being disclosed, but Letterman's salary is expected to remain in the neighborhood of the $31.5 million a year he currently makes.

Negotiations for a contract extension have been going on for some time, with both sides working under the assumption that Letterman wasn't looking to go anywhere, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

That's in stark contrast to the situation in 2002, when ABC made Letterman an offer to change networks. Letterman at the time had made remarks about being unhappy with the way CBS handled the negotiations, and ABC was left red-faced when the news broke no one had mentioned the network's plan to then-"Nightline" anchor Ted Koppel, who would have been displaced had Letterman jumped ship.

This time around, Letterman is reportedly more content with his situation at CBS -- he even features network boss Les Moonves on the show in a recurring bit called "More With Les." As it has been every year since 1994, "The Late Show" was nominated for an Emmy this year for outstanding writing for a comedy or variety series (if you include NBC's "Late Night," the streak goes back to 1984). Letterman also was nominated for his individual performance this year.

Okay after all the info they gave, they failed to mention that Letterman would compete with Conan on The Tonight Show. You know they guy only guy who will have hosted Late Night and The Tonight Show. Yes he's had a great Emmy streak, and Johnny Carson did Tonight for 30 years but 28 years of David Letterman? Don't know why CBS is extending the contract that long, when they should be lining up some new blood for 2009. They have Craig Furguson right after but I don't know if would be accepted on the Late Show. I just hope it isn't Letterman's ego that's keeping him going so he can do his 11:30 longer than Jay's. Its going to be the student vs the master in 2009. Of course Dave probably could retire any year but at $31.5 million a year I doubt he cares about things like quality and staying too long.

The Late Late Show always does the 5 nights a week thing, of course they don't have a band to pay so no problems with the budget.

Interesting to see SNL get their budget reduced thus more cast member firings because NBC is now 4th overall, while Conan gets an extra episode a week. While it was sometimes annoying to watch Conan have dated material in "The Laugh Zone" on the Monday reruns but sometimes you would watch a favourite or see an episode you hadn't seen before. Now when Conan does his all week bits he'll literally mean "all week on the show". Still good to see even after Conan had a song on the Emmys which put down NBC that they're finally doing Monday episodes. 9/14 looks to be great.

I really hope he doesn't move to Burbank when he takes over the Tonight Show. He's been in NYC since the beginning and the Tonight Show started in NYC. Bring the show back to it's home and keep Conan here too.

The Rock?

Bob Newhart?

Jason Lee?

Stamos!?

I'm in. *straps on jetpack*

Sadly I think he's moving to Burbank. He did live out there during his Simpson days so atleast it isn't 'new' to him. But NBC and CBS aren't both going to do 11:30 shows from NYC and let Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Furguson and Carson Day get all the West Coast talent.

Then move Late Night to LA. Whatever they do, they better keep Conan in NYC.

Sadly. Even if we all want it. NBC knows the big stars have to be on the tonight show--even if Conan is the most popular out there even now--so the Tonight Show has to be in L.A. It's understandable but....there will be something lost when he moves.

And that fact most of his characters if not all will be gone too.

I hope Conan isn't forced to change. If he is, I hope him taking over Leno bombs. Then NBC will give him more crreative freedom. I know he gets the 18-25 crowd...but NBC wants him to get the 'older' crowd Leno gets.

the "tonite on conan" ads didn't even say that it was a new episode...I almost didn't watch, but still never pass up a repeat I haven't seen, and it turned out to be new...c'mon NBC, git on it. k, I'm done.

It will be a younger crowd compared to whose watching Letterman. Which is all NBC wants. When Conan finishes Late Night he'll have done it for 16 seasons. I think the vast majority of people who are fans of the show, aren't fans of Leno. But also since its on show late I don't believe he gets fans tuning in all week, more like a rotation kind of thing.

Last night was pretty good, except I missed the start of Max and Conan going to buy yogurt. Kiefer's interview are fun to watch since he's always nervous and has embarassing stories to tell and yet he's Jack Bauer. Then Joely Fisher talked about her boobs and who knows what she did with Conan's crotch since it was blocked by the desk. They better bring Abe Vigoda with them to Burbank.

So there will be no more "Recliner of Rage" when he gets to Los Angeles?

Did he say something about Steve Irwin's death, because I missed the last few shows (I missed last night's show because Football ran long and I only caught the first half of the Wednesday show).

Hmm, that's right. He will have to move to Los Angeles. Well, maybe they'll move to the show to New York. Who knows.

Conan Plans Bare-Bones Halloween Show
'Late Night' will go all-skeleton for one night

October 23, 2006
The skeleton of Conan O'Brien

26046977.jpg

Conan O'Brien has done an all-claymation show, shot a show opening during a blackout and taken viewers to Finland. On Halloween, the "Late Night" host will break more television ground.

In keeping with the spirit of the spooky holiday, the Tuesday, Oct. 31 edition of the show will be an all-skeleton version. As O'Brien says, "This may be the finest hour of television NBC has ever produced ... with skeletons."

The flesh-free episode is a re-creation of a "Late Night" broadcast from May. Conan's skeleton's guests will be the bones of Larry King (suspenders included), the skeleton of "House" star Omar Epps and the frame of actress Sheila Kelley ("Singles," "Matchstick Men"), who will demonstrate a pole-dancing workout that's become popular in L.A.

The show also features "Arrested Development" star Will Arnett's skeleton doing an "In the Year 2000" segment.

The skeleton episode will mark the second time "Late Night" has recast an episode. In May 2003, the show did an episode in clay animation (of which O'Brien similarly said, "This may be the best show we've ever done -- in clay"). "Late Night" has also broadcast from a Circle Line boat in the waters around Manhattan and shot the opening of a show using only reserve power when New York was under a blackout in 2003.

Perhaps most famously, O'Brien traveled to Finland earlier this year and filed a travelogue from the country, where he met with his doppelganger, President Tarja Halonen.
