X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Production Weekly is a relatively reliable source.

I've been under the assumption that the X-Men are a priority and play a huge role in the Multiverse Saga, just like the Fantastic Four are at Marvel. We were already introduced to a universe where the X-Men exist in The Marvels, and now we're getting even more X-Men characters in Deadpool 3. I believe Avengers 5 will be an AvX film, and the X-Men film will either come out before Avengers 5, between Avengers 5 and Secret Wars, or directly follow Secret Wars like Far From Home did.
I'll remain optmistic then. Hopefully it will be with a brand new cast.

From Wikipedia, idk if its legit, but Lauren Shuler Donner is credited as producer for Deadpool & Wolverine.

I don't mind if Lauren and Simon Kinberg are credited, as long as the movie is good. My current concern is the current quality control in Marvel Studios. We just got Quantumania and The Marvels last year....they technically haven't recovered from those misfires yet... Captain America 4 also sounds like a disaster from the reports.

If you zoom in on the full image and look at the right bottom corner then there's the 20th Century Studios copyright. So FF rights are still tied to 20th Century Fox but Marvel Studios can do what they want with the IP. Kind of disproves the idea that they can't do anything with the X-Men until 2025.

Edit: Same goes for the Deadpool & Wolverine poster.
Disney acquired 20th Century Studios so I dont se why that would even be significant

People have been arguing that the reason why we haven't gotten X-Men in the MCU yet is that the Fox era producers had ironclad contracts whereby they need to be involved and Marvel Studios had to wait until 2025 when those contracts expire. The fact that the Deadpool & Wolverine and FF posters have the 20th Century Studios copyright on them indicates that there really are some Fox era contracts still in place, otherwise there would be no need to include the 20th Century Studios copyright. But despite that, Marvel Studios can do what they want with FF. In other words, these pre-existing contracts are not an issue. So what I'm saying is that these contracts were never the reason why we haven't gotten X-Men yet. It's all down to Feige and his plans..

I never noticed the foX logo in these MCU pics, until I read it on this page, so thats a very good catch!

I would be fine if X-Men reboot is released in 2026 or summer 2007. But they really need to get their *#*+ together. Just look at their current upcoming slate:

Deadpool & Wolverine
Agatha
Ironheart
Captain America 4
Thunderbolts
Daredevil Reborn
Fantastic 4 reboot
Wonder Man
Blade reboot
Shang-Chi 2
Vision Quest
Armor Wars
Thor 5
Avengers 5
Avengers 6
Young Avengers?
Dr. Strange 3?
Black Panther 3?

Idk, I need to see their 2025 films first to feel positive about a X-Men reboot. I don't want a X-Men reboot happening, in the middle of mcu collapsing like the dceu.

2024
Deadpool & Wolverine

2025
Captain American: Brave New World
Thunderbolts* (Title Change seems imminent)

2026
Blade
Shang Chi 2
Armor Wars
Spider-Man 4?

2027
Young Avengers?
Avengers 5?
X-Men?

2028
Secret Wars

I’d dieeee if X-Men was announced for 2027

X-Men before Secret Wars would be a surprise, given everything else Marvel has lined up. I really just expected the Fox actors to fill the mutant gap until after the big event.

You missed The Fantastic 4 for 2025. Thor 5 is also in development. Plus all those Disney+ projects that would also take some time from Kevin Feige and company. Nova has already been reported to be in development. And i would be surprised if Disney doesn't greenlit a 3quel for Black Panther/Dr. Strange.

Thats a ginormous amount of projects in development for 1 studio, that already gave us the likes of Quantumania and the Marvels just last year. Unless they hire great writers/director for X-Men, I don't see how it won't be affected by the Onslaught of projects Marvel Studios are working, since Feige and Disney have the final say in these films.

Thunderbolts, Brave New World, Armor Wars, Thor 5 and Young Avengers shouldn't be happening imo.

Also, the claim that Thor 5 even is in development came from Taika Waititi - who openly admitted he isn't involved. Which means he wouldn't have any idea if they had actually stopped development, anyway.

Given the crazy success that X-Men '97 is having, I could see Avengers 5 & 6 being reworked into:

- Avengers: Incursion or Avengers vs. X-Men
- Avengers: Secret Wars

The fifth film would still play to the Multiverse Saga angle, but drop Kang.

I know many people want or expect MCU to simply recreate X-Men '97 in live action but I'm still hoping against hope that the Fox OT actors will return to help close out the Multiverse Saga and pick up from the end of DOFP in the reset reality of 2023. There's still plenty of room there to more faithfully adapt the characters... Rogue could have her super strength, now Maria Rambeau / Binary is on the team, Bishop could be there too (bring back Omar Sy), etc.

You could even play with the Multiverse stuff and have fun with it. For example, Kitty Pryde is no longer a standing X-Men team member but is instead Star Lord of this universe (with Elliot Page returning). Gives our remaining GOTG characters something to do / someone to interact with in a crossover film...

X-MEN - BLUE & GOLD
- Wolverine: Hugh Jackman
- Ororo / Storm: Halle Berry
- Jean Grey: Famke Janssen
- Scott / Cyclops: James Marsden
- Hank / Beast: Kelsey Grammer
- Maria / Binary: Lashana Lynch
- Rogue: Anna Paquin
- Remy / Gambit: Channing Tatum
- Kit / Star Lord: Elliot Page
- Bobby / Iceman: Shawn Ashmore
- Lucas Bishop: Omar Sy
- Piotr / Colosuss: Stefan Kapičić
- Besty / Psylocke: Oliva Munn
- Kurt / Nightcrawler: Alan Cumming

There's young characters too to clash with Ms. Marvel & the other Young Avengers...

NEW MUTANTS / GENERATION X
- Jubilee: Lana Condor
- Illyana / Magik: Anna Taylor-Joy
- Laura / Honey Badger: Dafne Keene
- Ellie / Warhead: Brianna Hildebrand
- Rusty / Firefist: Julian Dennison

Next year we'll get the announcement of X-Men and possible casting announcements for at least one character probably Logan or Charles.

I also maintain that Kelsey Grammar was cast as the voice of Beast because it's a CGI character, and the rest of the X-Men will be new actors. Think of it like JJJ in the Spider-Man movies.

But that universe is going to have an incursion with the 616 MCU.

Patrick Stewart was brought back.
Kelsey is back
Jackman is back.
so that theory seems very unlikely (in terms of Deadpool 3 and Secret Wars, I mean)

I'm still skeptical on Logan being recast anytime soon. I'll believe it when I see it.

I just want Famke and James to come back at least. Oh and maybe give Anna a proper go as Rogue

Oh wow I hadn’t considered that…I guess the design is different enough from his previous appearances, it could very well be an entirely different Hank McCoy. I was just chalking it up to creative license (and that it’s now CGI instead of makeup).

Isn't Grammar controverse, openly trumpist or something like that? Would Marvel want someone like that to be one of the main voices of the X-Men?

Well, as per Iger, they aren't focusing on messaging anymore, so whats the problem?

I dont think he should be denied the role bc he may or may not support Trump. If we are cancelling people based on that, half of the actors in Hollywood would be out of jobs even the ones you may not be aware support Trump

There are plenty of roles that does not carry the message the X-Men does.

They specifically used the Ottman theme for Grammer's Beast cameo. Could have just been a fun nod but I took it as this is the same Beast from the FOX films.

Dude has been openly Right wing since he was Frasier Crane. Yes Cheers. Fiscal Conservative and anti-choice ("pro-life").
