X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

We aren't getting Blade right after The Fantastic 4. Right after The Fantastic 4, its either Shang-Chi or Avengers for the first mcu film of 2026.

And there's no breathing room for the X-Men, if its

Avengers v X-Men
The Uncanny X-Men
Avengers Secret Wars

In that release order. Its highly impossible, unless the X-Men film is with Hugh Jackman and company.

If we are getting mutants/X-Men in Deadpool & Wolverine and Secret Wars, I can wait a little bit more for the reboot.
2028 seems more possible, if they release Secret Wars in 2027. If not, 2029.

Spider-Man 4 will also most definitely be in phase 6. The X-Men reboot probably won't happen until after Secret Wars.
Fantastic 4

2025
Shang-Chi 2
Avengers 5
Spider-Man 4

2026
Dr. Strange 3
Avengers 6
Thor 5

I hope Thor 5 doesn't happen.

Seems like you arent familiar with how movie productions work.
Neither A5, ShangChi or Spiderman4 are filming this year, so its impossible for them to come out just next year.

Not to mention that the 2025 calendar is confirmed since a long time ago (Cap 4, Thunderbolts both filmed, and Fantastic Four starts filming in 2 weeks)

According to Production Weekly, Avengers 5, Shang Chi 2, and X-Men are all filming in 2025. The Russo Bros news indicates that Avengers 6 may film back-to-back with 5.

I never said those are filming this year...

And what I posted is obviously a typo. Its 2026/2027, I'm crazy to suggest Marvel Studios to release 6 movies in 2025.

There was one time when Feige said they were just weeks away from filming Blade. Sets were already built for that as well. Yet that movie is still not filming.

The X-Men movie is coming. But a lot of these things are scheduled way ahead of time, and they always get delayed all the time. Just because something appears on Production Weekly and Marvel's Hall H presentation, it doesn't mean they would meet that date. Blade and Captain America 4 should have been out by now. And there was a time when both Avengers 5 and 6 were given a 2025 release date.

Even if the X-Men are given a 2026/2027 release date in SDCC 2024, I wouldn't be so sure it would make that date just because of Marvel Studios' track record.

A global pandemic and two Hollywood strikes...

You are so passionate about X-Men not happening.

Avengers 5 and 6 were announced post pandemic in 2022. Marvel Studios also announced Inhumans before.

How many times they delayed the release date for Blade and Fantastic 4? Yes the strikes happened but Deadpool didn't move to 2025, Captain America 4 did and Deadpool was the one that paused filming in the middle of the strikes.

Its not a lack of optimism for the X-Men. Its not the lack of optimism for Marvel Studios.

Good luck with the X-Men shooting in less than 18 months.

I hope McAvoy and Fassbender make appearances at some point, Avengers 5 or 6. They would be more formidable at this stage then Stewart and McKellan. Their casting in those roles was every bit as great.
Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are more iconic for those roles. So if those are featured rather than their younger counterparts, it wouldn't be a surprise. Also Avengers 5 and 6, would have dozens of characters. Professor X and Magneto won't be having the same amount of screentime they've had in the Fox movies.

The first X-Men movie came out pre-Spider-Man, pre-MCU, and post-Batman & Robin. So in the context of the time period, the year 2000, it made sense that they didn't go with the bright spandex costumes. I am glad we are in a different time where we can get Wolverine in his iconic outfit now. But 2000 was sadly a different time.

I might be dead before the next X-men movie comes out. :waa: I'm old!

It would be like Wanda saying "No more fans". :tearsofjoy:

Unless they have a director and a full cast ready for next year, plus a finished script that wouldn't lead to many revisions and new writers just being hired. Then maybe you would get the "reboot" in 2026. Avengers, Fantastic 4 and Blade all lost directors under the MCU. Spider-Man 4 is taking more time than the previous Mcu Spider-Man movies. X-Men is probably trickier to pull off especially if its the reboot and foX-Men era actors are still reprising their X-Men roles. The X-Mansion wasn't built over a day.

Do we honestly think X-Men is going to be sandwiched by two Avengers movies? Then have 1 of those two, come out just months away before the X-Men - its just not realistic. X-Men '97 is renewed for at least two seasons, I doubt X-Men reboot would be out when those seasons haven't aired yet. They might have to end that cartoon first before giving the next era of the X-Men.

2026 is unrealistic. 2027 is a maybe, but then Secret Wars would be out in that year.

I could see 2026 happening if they have everyone lined up before the end of the year, but still seems like they are in the script/development stage.

I simply don't want all this Multiverse trash to get in the way of giving the mutants and the X-Men a formal MCU introduction.

How are they even going to deal with that messy epilogue from The Marvels? They didn't think through the Multiverse Saga very well at all, and I think they simply used it as an excuse to bring back a bunch of the older actors.

or... Feige has very specific reasons and goal for those scenes/returns.

The fans' lack of patience over the last two phases has been bewildering. We waited with bated breath during Phases 1-3 to see how everything came together, but now that Marvel has shown their hand (Infinity War and Endgame), fans feel like they know what should be happening instead of just riding the wave.

You guys are getting the Mutant Saga soon, so quit ya whining. :o

In the second part of his answer Feige addressed the “X-Men” finally being allowed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to “Deadpool & Wolverine” and suggested the Mutant Saga won’t necessarily have to wait until the Multiverse Saga—which ends with “Avengers: Secret Wars”—is complete to begin.

“Also, the ‘after’ is clearly—now that we have characters from the ‘X-Men’ world, the Mutants—we haven’t had access to before,” he continued. “So, this is the beginning of that, and every [movie] post ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will be the Mutant era coming into the MCU.”

I've been saying this since Kamala's reveal at the end of Miss Marvel.

Given my recent comments about X-Men not coming anytime soon, I'm definitely not impatient here about the next X-Men movie.

I'd worry if they are releasing it too soon (2026) because of Marvels flopping and Marvel Studios rushing to get the X-Men out, then developing/filming it alongside Avengers 5/6.

I'd be surprised if we get Marvel Studios' X-Men (reboot) before Doctor Strange 3, Black Panther 3, and (if its still happening) Thor 5. There's sequel tease to those 3, and so far, all we've seen so far from the X-Men in the MCU, are several FoX-Men actors reprising their roles, directly linked to the Multiverse...

I said 18 months in the previous post, but December 2025 is 17 months away. If the next X-Men movie is really filming at Q4 of 2025. That is such a small time window for Marvel Studios to film the new X-Men, and why launch them in 2026, when we are just seeing Hugh Jackman in the iconic Wolverine costume this month in the cinemas...

I agree 2026 is too soon for the reasons you mentioned but I do think 2027 is very possible. If that's what they're aiming for, it could very well be the 1st movie released after Secret Wars. And if that's the case, it would probably be the MCU X-Men rather than the Fox versions since it would be post Multiverse shenganians.
