X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

I doubt we get teenage Cyclops, Jean, and Storm

If they cast Sadie Sink as Jean, you will absolutely get a Cyclops that is a contemporary of her age. Bank on that.

Storm... I can see them going the X-Men Evolution route and making her a teacher at the school. I don't think they are going to make ALL the X-Men teenagers, but I can see them going that route with the original 5 (and other characters).

Don't forget that they aren't just aiming these movies at the aging comic book fans. They will likely want these characters to be stars to the teens or young adults going to see the Marvel movies now, and likely haven't seen any of the FOX X-Men movies or other X-Men media. Similar to how Tom Holland's Spider-Man introduced the character to a lot of new fans when he debuted in the MCU with Civil War.

I’ll allow it. Though, admittedly, I think Rogue and her arc with joining/defecting from her mother and the Brotherhood would be perfect for a Disney+ series. Then she meets Remy and fights the Assassin’s Guild in Season 2.
I'm super into this.

My God, imagine waiting all this time and getting a teenage Cyclops in year 2030... yeah just no to teen X-Men.

Idk if I’m buying into Sneider’s report about Sink. But to your point, yes, of course whoever is cast as Jean will need to match up with Scott.

Lol and secondly, drag me. I’m not just some aging comic book fan because I’d rather see an adult version of the team that can work with the Avengers without feeling like the junior support. Holland is no longer in high school and, unless he’s no longer Spider-Man post-Secret Wars, I’d rather not have a team of X-Men younger than Peter Parker.

Not teen X-Men just young actors who can be in the roles for years to come.

Actors in their late 20s/early 30s can easily fit those roles. They would have 10 to 15 years before they hit 40 and they would still look good similar to Fox-Men as of today.

Sadie Sink is 22 and probably one of the most qualified younger actresses around. The best in whatever scene she's in on Stranger Things and works absolutely great with a large ensemble cast.

Like I mentioned in the previous page, she would be fine as Kitty. Not Jean though. Too short and too young for the role.

I don't give a damn if she's Betsy or Kwannon or whatever, I just know Feige better cast Anna Sawai, give her a purple wig and CGI purple butterflies and let her be MCU Psylocke.

Jean Grey, Storm and Scott being the same age as Brie Larson sounds good to me.

That’s fair; and we’re still at least a year away from casting I’d imagine. Just as long as she’s not playing a teenage Jean

Y'all would hate me, and though I love Jean Elaine Grey, I wouldn't put her in any of the X-movies until the stinger of MCU X-Men 2.

Give the other ladies some time to shine.

Current age Brie Larson? She's 35 and I love her to death but I want my X-Men characters to age into their roles. It'd feel far more satisfying as a viewer seeing the growth of these characters overtime, esp if they're supposed to be the new face of the MCU going forward.

Teen X-Men in a cross over with the MCU Avengers (whoever remain there, post Secret Wars) would look so odd. Also actors like Tom Holland would already be in their 30s by the time X-Men reboot hit theaters.

The youngest right now in the MCU, if I'm not mistaken are the actresses playing Ms. Marvel and Sprite. The cast of F4 are all above 30s, with Pedro in his 50s.

They really need to consider the other heroes the X-Men would interact in these mcu films. They can't look like the Power Pack of the group.

Y'all act like 30s is old, that's insane.

People are looking younger and younger now. Zendaya is almost 30 playing a teenager. Sadie is mid 20s looking like she's 15. Jean could be mid 20s played by a 30y actress.

30s is super, super young.

But like I said before, I prefer an already stablished X-Men, so I don't mind a 30 year Jean and Scott at all.

30s is young. I'm 36 and I feel super good, like in my early 20s. I just want characters that age into the roles but at the end of the day I don't care about who is cast as what because I'm there no matter what.

Remember: if Jackman will play Wolverine until he's 90, if they cast a 35 year old to play Jean, she could play her for 55 years. :o

I just want to free Sadie Sink from the Netflix basement :(

He's not playing the Wolverine til he's 90. 70 would be pushing it.

I hated when X-Men Evolution made Storm as the senior of Cyclops/Jean. I would hate it when mcu does that too.

Yeah, this stuff about Sink being Jean could all be bull****, but if Marvel is really going for that type of casting choice, its clear they aren't going the X-Men 97 route with the MCU X-Men. It would likely look a lot closer to X-Men Evolution. Which makes sense for a lot of reasons, even if its not what some fans here would prefer.

As for X-Men vs. Avengers or crossovers where all the legacy characters everyone wants to see together are in their prime, I think that ship has sailed to be honest. Evans and RDJ aren't coming back for the long haul. And the Avengers are probably going to take a backseat as the focus of the MCU during the "mutant saga". So I don't think that was ever going to be a consideration for how they were going to cast the new X-Men.

Like I said whoever remains post Secret Wars, still won't be that young. Tom Holland is 28 today. The F4 cast are all above 30s. Even if we take out the 3 Chris, RDJ, Scarlett, Samuel, Jeremy and Mark, the MCU family are still mostly adults above 30s. Simu is 35 (like me). Letitia is 31. Ali is in his 50s if I'm not mistaken. And there aren't really a lot left to reboot outside of the X-Men as well. I can't imagine a rebooted Ghost Rider fresh out from college.
