X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

totally forgot about her height. I was mostly talking about her look, face and her range, which if we have seen her in Euphoria and other projects, she can play a complex character like Rogue perfectly.

but as I said, she is not my first choice. Sometime ago, my #1 choice was Anna de Armas, cuban, stunning, and very talented..... but she is +30 I think and Im afraid she is too big for Rogue at this point. but who knows? we really dont know what Feige has in store for some characters....

I think the 7 month delay for Doomsday and Secrer Wars made me think we aren't going to get the X-Men reboot just months after Secret Wars. If the reception for any of those two films are bad, then expect more delays and reconstruction under Marvel Studios.

I think May 2029 is more realistic than any month in 2028.

Anna de Armas also can't do the accent to save her life. Love her, but she can't do the southern accent.

I'd probably just cast Ana De Armas as Selene or another X-Men villainess.

Why not cast a black woman for Jean Grey? Of all the X-Women you want to race swap, you pick the one with the poorest trailer park trash background?

That's not a nice way to talk about Mystique and Destiny....

To me, all the white characters are up for grabs in terms of race. There are very, very few where being white is important to an X-character. No one talks about Jean because she has been portrayed in the most generic, cookie cutter fashion, there really is no interest in an interesting actor beyond "red hair".

Picking an actor purely on looks is just so completely boring.

which leads me to the next question: why cant she just be a latin Rogue? as many fans have asked these past years

She looks nothing like Rogue. She looks more like an adult Kitty Pryde and I don't understand why people are trying to push this casting.

:o

With that said, she's a pretty good actress.

After seeing The Substance, I just can't see her not pulling off Rogue, unless she becomes disinterested.

Or what most fans hold up as a standard for the movie makers.

I will never understand not wanting the X-men to look as diverse as the metaphor requires.
You shouldn't try to understand as no one said in this page, that the X-Men shouldn't look diverse. What a way to twist someone's words that Keke Palmer doesn't look like the part as Rogue, well she simply doesn't.

I've already suggested many times to actually adapt the POC from the comics. There's no need to racebend Jean, Rogue, Cyclops - when there's Bishop, Storm, Jubilee, Forge, Cecilia Reyes, Sunfire, etc. Then someone would combat that by saying they aren't "X-Men" enough, like as if Marvel Studios is only using A-listers from the comics.

Racebending characters who are white in the comics since their inception many decades ago, isn't really a good way to show diversity/representation in the movies. Meanwhile actual Poc characters like Cecilia Reyes and Sunfire remain obscure X-Men characters.

I agree. If people want more representation, then utilize the POC characters that already exist. I would love to Thunderbird and Sunfire on the team (before we get Wolverine). I don't know much about Cecilia Reyes, outside of The New Mutants movie, but from the little I do know, I feel like there's a place for her in the X-Men movie. Maybe she can be the team doctor or working alongside Moira as part of a research team.

I feel like mutants who are different colored skin (nightcrawler, mystique, Stacy X, etc) can be played by an actor of color since they'll either be in make up or motion capture.
I liked Cecilia Reyes' story in the 90s comics.

I hope marvel wouldn’t be mean enough to be like wow we’re so progressive we hired Elliot! And then it turns out they cast him as senator kelly or something :meh:

many of MTTS tweets lately seem clear clickbaits to me

I hope it happens. I would love the entire OT cast members to join the MCU!

Says who?
Says the person you quoted. I have seen enough Poc characters/X-men in the comics that have potential to breakout in the movies, if given the platform.

I still don't get why use Rogue as the face of diversity/POC representation when she's been white for 40+ years.

Probably a variant of Shadowcat.
ShadowTomCat. Marvel…call me.

But seriously though, if they hire a queer inclusive cast I will literally make every movie session such an event. It’ll be like black panther but more rainbow
