X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

I still think you keep Jackman if you're bringing back Dafne Keen as X23/Wolverine; it'd be odd if she was kept but was reintroduced with another actor playing her father/OG Wolverine. Then again, I think it'll be strange if we see Hugh Jackman standing next to a third actor playing Professor X or Magneto...and McAvoy and Fassbender only become more appropriate for their roles as time passes.

Really, Deadpool & Wolverine should have been the send-off for the Fox Films (X-Men, Fantastic Four, Daredevil...plus maybe Ghost Rider and Blade) while Spider-Man: No Way Home would have been the send-off for the past Sony Spider-Man films. Then Doomsday & Secret Wars could have still closed the Multiverse Saga, yes, but with the actors/characters relevant to the current MCU.
The general audience doesn’t care all that much about the actors/characters of the current MCU though. Carol Danvers and the New Avengers are not going to put butts in the seats as shown by the Box Office numbers of The Marvels and The Thunderbolts.

Because the X-Men movies were always blockbuster successes…

He doesn't need to appear in every X-Men film is my point, especially the reboot.

The Wolverine has appeared in 6 out of 7 X-Men team films. Then there's the Wolverine trilogy, Deadpool cameo and the 2024 MCU film. Hugh Jackman is probably in Secret Wars, if not Doomsday too.

Wolverine’s also appeared in all the video games and all the cartoons; he’s a major part of the franchise and a fan favorite.

Be it Jackman or a recast, they’re definitely using Wolverine in MCU X-Men (as they should).

Just be sure to balance him out with the other roster and don’t center it around him again.

A X-Men movie can exist without the Wolverine. Just because the Wolverine appeared in almost every X-Men adaptation, it doesn't mean you should plaster him in every X-Men movie. The X-Men have dozen of members after all!

"An X-Men movie can exist without Wolverine" Technically true... but if you are launching the MCU version of the X-Men that is going to lead Marvel into its next phase, it makes sense to have Wolverine on the team. Because he is the most well known X-Man.

It can, certainly. But it won't. Because you have Storm and Logan. Everyone else might as well be unknown. Without those two, you are looking at Thunderbolt numbers. You need those two to hopefully get to FF numbers. Which may not be what Feige is looking for.

I think X-Men ‘97 handled this so well—he’s there; he’s got moments to shine; but he’s not the central character.

I like Wolverine and what he adds to the team’s dynamic. IMO, Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops are the Big Three needed for any X-Men reboot. For me and for the general audience & especially the accountants at Marvel Studios.

Maybeee Jean but that might by own bias; you could just do the Blue Team and do the Big Three plus Beast, Rogue, and Gambit.

He won’t be in it based on what Kevin Feige has said interviews. He said that they have no plans to recast Wolverine anytime soon and he said that the X-Men film will have unknown actors to keep the budget low (meaning no Hugh Jackman).

Kevin Feige said no such thing. Maybe stop conflating "reports" with stuff Feige has mentioned in interviews, because Feige has never given any official statement on what kind of budget the X-Men movie is going to have.

You’re right about the casting/budget being from reports rather than interviews. I misremembered.

Not really, when Hugh Jackman is still around as the Wolverine. So are they rebooting the X-Men with someone from Fox-Men cast? 2028 is just days after the Secret Wars.

Are all those reports from before FF's "sucess". Because I think they may be desperate when x-men comes around.

:tearsofjoy: That was a pretty good one.

And sadly a big truth.

on other hand, general audience just doesnt care about most superhero movies these days, unless its a huge popular character (Spiderman, Deadpool/Wolverine, Avengers...) most other movies are floping (Marvel, Sony, Warner...)
