The Official Mitt Romney Thread

I''ll give Romney sort of a free pass on this

1. he probably was talking to a bunch of christians on the far right and actually doesn't feel the need to do this

2. did he say that it would block it for everybody or was it just something that is added to your computer that you have the right to use(or uninstall)

All that being said being in the Party that believes in the market determining how stuff works, should 3rd party porn blockers be an issue for the private markets to create? Having the Government decide to block your porn is the definition of big government.

If anyone gets a chance, Matt Taibbi's new Rolling Stone Article on Romney is fantastic.

Oh Christians. God love 'em. They just can't leave other people alone.

I always find it highly ironic how fearful they are of Sharia Law, but given the chance I am guessing many far right christians would have no problem enacting laws for the country to live by that are in accordance with the bible(how they see it). Probably even more ironic that many rules of sharia law they would agree with. lol

How many is many? Do you have a % for that?

I believe there are christians, just as you say......but I would not venture to think I even knew if it was few, many, most, any descriptor of numbers.....nor I know who were Christians, or simply hitting a button on telephone that picks Christian on a poll.

That last sentence is a mess Kelly. Could you clarify what you're trying to say there?

I suppose it is unfair to put all Christians in the same boat.

Most liberals are Christian. You wouldn't know it, because to their credit, for the most part, they keep their religion to themselves, and don't try to force it on the rest of society.

Conservatives on the other hand... Well, they're still battling Darwin on evolution. Don't even get them started about the gay agenda, and contraception.

Yet ironically evidence shows that they download the most porn...

Yes it is unfair, lol......as is your complete generalization of Conservative Christians.....wow....

No really, check the statistics. Most porn is downloaded in so-called "red states" (and by quite a margin, I might add). There is even a very noticeable drop of porn downloads on Sundays.

The Bible Belt downloads more porn than all the other states combined.

Probably because the liberals are too busy making it.

Want to take a guess which state is the worse. lol

And most of those are Christians? or what you think a Christian is? ok....

Well honestly, at this point, I suppose we'd have to classify anyone Christian if they claim to be Christian. Recent studies have found that Protestants (I.e. most of the religious right) barely know anything about their own religion...

They don't know who Martin Luther is. They can't name the first book of the bible, etc.

Well, I make a differentiation between those two, as Christians and christians....those that truly follow the model of Christ, and those that follow whatever the preacher in their pulpit, or the preacher on tv, or their own happy little moral compass tells them to follow...

Therefore, for me putting a most, many, some, whatever is IMO, is on both sides of these issues, waste of time.

We are seeing a rather interesting evolution of the religious right.

The evangelicals really got into politics, essentially as a Protestant hate movement, targeting Catholics. But then their enemy became secular. And oddly enough, they started finding themselves on the same side with Catholics. But not all Catholics.

This leads to some rather odd moments, with Catholics acting like Protestant evangelicals. Like... Catholics preaching literal creationism (which isn't even the official position of their religion).

And Mormons (who both hated) now seem to be coming into the fold. Mostly because of their shared hatred for gays, and, well, everyone who isn't them.

I grew up Baptist and have experience with a couple different denominations outside of that and what ive seen is that the majority of people follow their preacher more than Christ or the bible. Didnt Jesus say something about the blind leading the blind into a ditch? Point is in this day and age i find that the ones that go to church know the least about christ and the bible because theyve become to reliant on listening to the preacher.

Yes, I interpret what he said to say, pay them no mind, don't even give them your time.

I swear...

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/wildhu...d-demonic-activity-at-liberty-university.html

“I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way–all of them who have tried to secularize America–I point the finger in their face and say “you helped [the 9/11 terrorist attacks] happen.”

That is from a Jerry Falwell.

Now this is back from 2012...the article about Romney at Liberty university. How can Romney defend Freedom of Religion when he is going this route?

All eyes will be on Romney to see if he can solidify support among conservative Evangelical Christians, a group that has been reluctant to admit he’s Christian at all due to his Mormon faith. While Romney has tentatively tried to stand up for his religion, a full-throated defense of the rights of religious minorities in this country has yet to emerge. Anyone expecting a “Sister Souljah moment” will no doubt be disappointed, Romney needs Liberty University and the forces it represents on his side, and that means overlooking its unfortunate, hurtful, retrograde, beliefs. Those beliefs include fighting against “homosexual propaganda,” and, naturally, a virulently anti-Pagan ethos. It is an ethos that goes far beyond the late Falwell’s infamous 9/11 comments.

Well, tonight's the night for Mitt. Do you guys think he'll soar with the speech and energize his base, or do you think he'll bomb? Also, will he make more of an effort to humanize himself as easier to relate to for the American Public, or will he stick to the facts about his plan to build up the economy?

It's Mitt I expect his whole speech to be

"I want to talk about real issues"
"Obama's plans sucks, (fill in reason why), and oh yeah what I will do is better(don't worry about details)"
"You did build that"

I think that when he's well prepared, he usually comes out pretty damn well and Presidential. And with an event that is as well choreographed as a national convention, he should do great IMO. I think the same of Obama too in this instance.

He really is the Republican John Kerry.

Marco Rubio though. He's going places. 2016 may be his year.

I don't think so....

Bush at least still had some of the patriotism of the days after 9/11 with him, we were not hating the Iraq war YET..... that came later.... John Kerry was a Mondale....I don't see Romney as that....I think he actually has a shot at this....I never felt Kerry did...

At this point...it is a flip a coin, either could win.......in the Bush/Kerry campaign....I never thought Kerry had a chance, and after his wife's comments.....I knew he wouldn't win.....between her and swift boat....he never had a chance.
