For us to talk about the several references and in-jokes in Superman Returns.
Max Fleischer cartoons - the several low angles, especially of people looking at Superman flying or the one where he catches the construction worker. Also the one where he flies and the sun shines between the clouds behind him, it´s pretty similar to a shot of the cartoon where Supes arrives to save Lois from an execution in Japan (the episode is full of anti-Japanese stuff, but you know, it must be seen in context). The scenes where Supes learns to fly also seem like a homage to the early days of Supes, when he couldn´t really fly, but take huge leaps.
George Reeves show - The way Supes calmly walks towards the thieves as they pointlessly try to shoot him.
Donner movie - More ones than can be accounted... The scene on the roof between Supes and Lois, the first Superman action scene rescuing Lois who´s in a flying vehicle... the shirt rip shot... Clark at the farm throwing something far away - like the football... Kevin Spacey´s humor-filled approach on Luthor... the land plan... Sequence of Supes doing his good deeds... The FOS design... Marlon Brando...
