Closer Look at The Destroyer

And is it just me or is "Thor" the only film with a huge presence at CC

Yeah seriously... where the hell is the GL stuff? All I've seen is that Abin Sur and the EW pic of Hal.

Holy crap, Destroyer looks like the awesome sideshow statue except life size!

Scott Pilgrim was kinda big but that was just for a day. Thor's been looming over the entire weekend

Well out of all these movies even at comic con Thor has to be the hardest to sell to the audience. So it would make sense that Marvel is hitting it very hard with all this Thor stuff because this is like the only time they can really sell this movie hardcore. The Destroyer above the throne like that looks absolutely amazing.

Destroyer...? DESTROYER?!?!?!?!

Prepare to see the most epic Marvel fight scene of all time...

I love the helmets, except Odin´s because i can´t figure out why does it have horns.
Hemsworth makes a great Thor...physically at least.
The Destroyer looks great...but i find stupid to be on the first movie.
I can´t even start to understand why the hell is the Infinite Gauntlet in the movie, but it looks great as well.

But.........Thor´s suit is awful :(

Awfully great! :awesome:

(Except the pants and that little metal leg ring.)

Why's the Destroyer stupid for the first film? It's pure muscle with not much else to it. Perfect goon for a better villain--like Loki--to employ.

That´s the one problem that the Batman movies brought to superhero movies....the leather black fetish.
Why is Thor´s suit 80% black?
And leather?
The suit is one gigantic mess, but the biggest of them all is that it doesn´t "godly", but rather a "superhero" suit.
The chest piece looks like a bullet proof vest, the boots looks like a bad ass biker, and the sleeve part looks like he is wearing another suit underneath it all...which makes the chest piece even more bullet proof vest like.
It has very few redeeming qualities.

As for the destroyer.....
My only problem is that it doesn´t belong in the first movie, but, knowing that every superhero movie made so far fail hard in the most important aspect...the heart and soul of the hero, i guess....meh.....whatever.

Because Odin is the father and he embodies both Thor and Loki. Or at least Loki and Thor are different aspects of their father (at least symbolically).

In myth Odin isn't all noble, righteous and warrior-like. He also has a mischievous/cunning side. I'm guessing each of the brother inherited a certain aspect of Odin and the helmets represent that.

The leather stills are kind of meh but I am hoping they will work well on the screen.

Well, I can't comment on the rest of your post because I literally don't agree with a single word of it, but as far as Thor's costume being mostly black...

Only part that's more black than the comic version is the pants.

Well, that´s not really a good argument due to the fact that Thor as had several suits.
And, IMO, that´s not the best Thor suit.....at all.

The best Thor suit, from the top of my head:

Sure, it needs some tweaks, but even so, imo, is the best

See...that's my least favourite suit. Artistic endeavours are funny that way...almost all of it is completely subjective.

Nothing, in my opinion, has topped Spider-Man 2's train sequence. I hope I am proven wrong with THOR or Captain America.

I can definitely see one of THOR's action scenes being one of my favorites. Particularly Loki v Thor.

See....that where your wrong, it is not COMPLETELY subjective.
OK, preferring this suit to that one, THAT´S subjective; creating the suit it´s not, and that´s what we are talking about here.
Thor is a NORSE god, a VIKING god, those are the 3 key words here, NORSE, VIKING and GOD.

This suit looks Norse and Viking enough

thor7var.jpg

This one looks medieval, look like chain mail of some sort.,
It´s not bad....but, imo, it´s not great either.
Besides, Thor should not wear sleeves, it looks less Norse in my opinion.
But the movie suit...that´s just one big mess.
The helmet is from the suit i say is the best, and the pants and boots are from the ultimate.

The number of times you've used the word "opinion" proves how subjective it all is.

If you're saying that creating a Norse Viking God's outfit is NOT subjective, I might agree...if you were aiming for some sort of historical, real-world type of representation. But that's not the case. We're talking about a movie about a comic book character based on a Norse god.

The concept designers are obviously taking there cues more from Kirby and the comic pages than history books. And that's how it should be...in MY opinion.

I would have LOVED to have seen a LOTR like Thor too! I'm happy both ways tho my heroes gonna ROCK!!!

Thor's actually stated in the comics that the Asgardians are in no way beholden to vikings, their looks, or anything else about them. They're gods whom the vikings came to worship, not vikings who became gods. They can (and historically do) look very different from their viking followers.

As far as looking Norse, he's a 6'6", blonde-haired, blue-eyed wall of muscle. As far as looking like gods, I think the movie armors look quite godly. They're certainly otherworldly, like things that no one on Earth would ever imagine as functional armor. But what looks "godly" is entirely subjective since, y'know, gods don't actually exist in the real world for comparison.
