With all of these new official character threads, I thought it would be cool to start one for Kitty Pryde. One of the most beloved X-Women of all time. Here you can discuss anything about her character, post pictures or anything that has to do with Kitty.

  • Powers
  • Kitty Pryde is a mutant with the ability to “phase” through solid matter by shifting her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. Kitty can phase her clothing along with herself, and through practice has learned to phase other objects and people without harm to them. For all intents and purposes, Kitty is intangible whilst phasing, however she is still vulnerable to psionic or mystical attacks. Certain forms of energy can also disrupt her phased state.
  • When Kitty phases through an object with an electrical system, the process disrupts the system's workings. This includes the electrical impulses found in the human brain. Kitty can phase part or all of her body through another living being without harm to herself, though the other being can be rendered unconscious as a result. Kitty also has the potential to kill another being by phasing them into a solid object and then releasing them, causing them to solidify whilst still within the object.
  • Kitty passes through objects at the same rate of speed at which she is moving before phasing. Since she is unable to breathe while phasing, she can only continuously phase through solid objects - as when she travels underground - as long as she can hold her breath. Kitty can keep her phased form at rest in relation to the rotation of the Earth upon its axis, thus allowing her to assume a ground speed of the length of a football field and a half every second. Kitty can also walk on air whilst phasing.
  • Kitty has trained herself to reflexively assume a phased state at any indication of danger, such as a loud noise like a gunshot, in order to protect herself.

Abilities Kitty possesses moderate expertise of the martial arts of the Japanese ninja and samurai. Kitty demonstrated great knowledge of ninja methods of combat when Ogun mentally possessed her. With the possession over, Kitty forgot the knowledge of ninja techniques he gave her, but retained the knowledge of Oriental methods of combat Wolverine taught her. Kitty is also a genius in the computer sciences, and is highly skilled in the design and use of computer hardware. She is a competent driver of automobiles, a skilled pilot of piston and jet engine aircraft, and a competent pilot of certain advanced interstellar vehicles. Kitty also undertook ballet and modern dance training, speaks fluent Japanese, Russian, and the royal and standard languages of the alien Shi'ar, and has moderate expertise in Gaelic, Hebrew, and German.
Weapons Kitty formerly used one of Wolverine's bone claws attached to her wrist.
Paraphernalia
Kitty possesses several volumes of "Destiny's Diaries," books written by the precognitive mutant destiny on possible events of the future.

I thought that Ellen Paige did an outstanding job as Kitty in X3.

I suscribe so much to this thread!! I love Kitty and Lockheed!!!

Let's talk about how Whedon... even though he's making a terrific job with her, completely threw away all the character developmente Claremont did with her in X-treme X-Men.

If it wasn't for Psylocke, Kitty would definitely be my favorite X-woman:cool::up:

Kitty Pryde: Shadow & Flame was a pretty decent mini-series. Showed off Kitty's fighting skills.

What did Claremont do, anyway? I barely read X-Treme.

Claremont gave her a job, gave her a career, she started to be more political, she was even going to participate in an election to be an alderman or something like that, the beginings of what we saw in The End.

She was going to school and she was a bar wench and had a crush on a cop that looked like Peter.

While I agree with the general idea of Kitty getting character development-- and, in fact, Claremont's ideas for her are pretty good, he knows the character best of anyone-- it's hard to argue with bringing the character back closer to her classic roots.

The one we see in "Astonishing" is just... that's KITTY, y'know? The same adorable mutant phase artist I was reading about 20 years ago. Granted, maybe a little too much the same, but how can I not like that?

It's Whedon...she's Kitty...she seems a lot like Kayley from Firefly...although when I first saw Firefly I fell in love with Kaylee because she reminded me of Kitty. So I can't complain. I'm just glad she's in one of the good books.

I was going to get that but heard it read ****ty reviews of it, so I didint. I may think about getting it.

I also never read Xtreme but it seems shes like she is in the End. I like that Kitty but I really enjoy what Whedon is doing with her.

There wasn't much going on, story-wise. It was basically an excuse for Kitty to beat up a lot of ninja.

Yeah, but it was still a decent solo Kitty story. She was smart and a great fighter. Paul Smith's artwork doesn't copy the detail of his original X-Men run. But he still delivers the subtle moves of great martial fighting.

I wish they'd have Kitty do more gadget stuff. She made a cool device to impersonate Rachel's mutant signature. Why can't she invent more stuff instead of spend time with politics?

You'd need a writer who can conceive related complex problems.

This thread seems fun. I think every time the owner makes their own thread and people start coming on here, their kinda like the moderator, lol. Anywho, I like Kitty. She may be hard-headed sometimes but she has a nice personality and a good heart.

Yeah, she sure can be bull-headed. But a girl like her has publicly stood up against the likes of Loki and Stryker. That takes real courage.

She gets it from the woman thats close to her as a mom.
