Products The Official Superman Returns Toyline-Collectibles Thread

Ok, ok, ok...so Mattel has screwed all of the Superman toy fans out there who wanted decent movie based figures....well...I have an idea

At the very LEAST Mattel gave us this figure here, Heat Vision Superman:

Well what can be done, is if you buy this figure, and then pick up this Lex Luthor figure:

And then pick up this Clark Kent figure:

Then you have some decent Superman movie toys~!

Does anybody know if the Heat Vision will have cut wrists?

You talking bout the five inch one? If so, I'm not sure...but I do know it has a rubber cape instead of a cloth one and to me I think it looks a little better and more movie like if the figure has a rubber cape.

I think a couple pages back, ReporterKent did say it might have cut wrist. I want to buy the Heat Vision Superman, but thats the only thing keeping me at bay. I don't like the way his arms are posed.

I'm talking about the Deluxe figure, a picture of it, is in a link I just posted.

Robin is a re-release...

So was the DCSH Batman in Wave 1 and they gave him elbows. Mattel's just lazy as always.

The rest in that wave look good, although I don't particularly like the look of that Batman.

Jesus I'm so blind, here I'm asking if the Heat Vision Superman has cut wrists, and on the side of the box, it shows his fists side ways instead of up :O hehe. sorry

Do you base decency off purely the height of a figure?

What kind of silly question is that? Of course I don't! I mean, I'll take a 7 inch figure over a dinky 4 or 5 inch one any day of the week...

...but if you look at the 5 inch line made by Mattel you can CLEARLY see that that Ultra 7-inch Heat Vision Superman figure is leaps and bounds better in detail and articulation AND is proportions are not out of whack.

Look at the Superman to Clark figure...his hands are massive, his head sculpt looks ridiculous and he doesn't have that much movement for someone who is supposed to be 'super'. Same with the Lex Luthor figure, his hands look ridiculous...like he's wearing gigantic oven mitts.

The Lex I pictured above (which I just got today and he's awesome I might add) is in proportion and has a nice range of movement, same as the Heat Vision Superman.

So no, it's not just the height of a figure.

I dont know if it movie accurate but he does wear this suit in the movie...

Yes Brolly he does have cut wrists :)

Then it's settled, HEAT VISION SUPEMAN IT IS!!!

And the space suit TRU exclusive looks amazing, I can't wait.

Looks the like Death and Return of Superman Suit.

how long are exclusives available for? Also, is it out now because i heard its out in june? By the way im new here but expect me on the boards frequently.

Can someone help out a Superman fan over here? I cannot seem to find the 'Ultra Heat Vision' 7-inch Superman action figure...he looks awesome but methinks he isn't coming in my area :(

Can someone PLEASE pick him up for me and I'll pay you back........please? :O :supes:

Who is that supposed to look like, exactly? Mattel is such a piss-poor company with movie lines.

Listen I can see what your getting at, BUT you should hold your judgement until you've seen all 3 deluxe figures in person. I see why you like the Flight force....but one thing I gripe about is the open hand.

nothing alittle hand swap couldn't change.

4Nutz needs to stop b1tching and moaning. These are mass produced products, looking to reach a different demographic than what he wants Mattel to cater to. If you don't like them, don't buy them... or even speak about them. Why waste your breath? Go buy the Hot Toys or Medicom Superman which are very expensive, if you really want something that looks better than the general release products.

Listen *****e bag, first off I can 'b1tch and or moan' about anything I want, so by you telling me not to, I'm not miraculously going to stop.

I have been a Superman fan since I can remember. Same goes for action figures. The very first action figure I got was probably Superman by Kenner all those years ago. I have seen what companies are capable of-NECA, McFarlane, even Mattel with some of the Harry Potter stuff.

What would you say if the directing job of Superman went to I don't know...let's say Uwe Bowl, or whatever the hell his name is. Don't tell me that you or any other Superman movie fan wouldn't be the least upset AND more importantly 'b!tch and moan' about it.

This is the first time in a long time Superman has graced the silver screen, and it looks like it was done with a team of professionals who want the movie to be all it can be. The merchandise that comes off this movie should have the same amount of dedication, care and hard work put into it. Instead the fans were treated to 1, MAYBE 2 'decent' Superman figures out of what? 500?!? Just because the toys off the movie aren't as important to you doesn't mean other people share your same stance.

Batman Begins was the same deal...the toy/movie fans were kicked right in the friggin' balls with that movie line...did they sell? NO! I prayed that the 'genius' at Mattel wouldn't make the same mistake...I was wrong.

I walk into a toy store excecting a somewhat decent action figure line from this movie and find garbage, it makes me angry. I am not wasting my breath by any means. If at least ONE person from Mattel who was involved in the crap job on these toys saw any of my posts I'm cool with that.

So keep it shut pal. Thanks :supes:

Look at this kid catching feelings... chill out, son. No one came at you calling you a b1tch... even though by all indications, it would probably be an accurate judge of your character.

I have been a Superman fan since I can remember.
And so have alot of people...

Yeah, and?

I have seen what companies are capable of-NECA, McFarlane, even Mattel with some of the Harry Potter stuff.
The Mattel Harry Potter stuff is by no means superior than Batman Begins or Superman Returns products. The other comapnies you mention, I.E. NECA, McFarlane make high end items, not generally found in major outlets. McFarlane doesn't even make figures though, they make statues. Not to mention, Mattel may substitute quality for durability. Once again, these products are aimed at young children (not like NECA and McFarland products) so they have to be durable eough for a kid to play with and beat up. NECA and McFarland are collector's items, not toys, and usually are found in stores and outlets not easily accessible for children. Get your facts straight, sparky.

What would you say if the directing job of Superman went to I don't know...let's say Uwe Bowl, or whatever the hell his name is. Don't tell me that you or any other Superman movie fan wouldn't be the least upset AND more importantly 'b!tch and moan' about it.
Uhh...Apples meet Oranges, why don't we compare you two, heh?

We're not talking about the movie and the quality of it. We are talking about toys aimed at kids, and the associated products that are associated with the movie. When has a movie ever had SUPER detailed anything, for the general release prices for movie products? If you want high end stuff, you have to pay for it. If you're looking to walk into a Wal-Mart, and a parent is with their kid...they have to have a Superman on the shelf at ALL times, and be able to pay for it at a relatively low price. So they make a product they can mass produce, which satisfies all their marketing goals. Once you understand marketing concepts, you may understand that Mattel is a business that is here to make money...and not satisfy Adult collectors. So don't compare unlike things, in comparing a NECA or McFarland high end statue or collectible, to a general release product from a major company like Mattel. You said you had the Super Powers Superman figure as a kid...did you enjoy and play with that figure? These same products out now are meant to reach a young generation. They aren't met to be things that are just looked at for their beauty by collectors. They are meant to be played with by children. Dumb Ass...

This is the first time in a long time Superman has graced the silver screen, and it looks like it was done with a team of professionals who want the movie to be all it can be.
Yes, and we have gotten a bunch of great movies before with the same mass produced merchandise before. It doesn't take away the quality of the actual movie. Hell, people still buy massive amounts of those products anyway.

The merchandise that comes off this movie should have the same amount of dedication, care and hard work put into it.
Really? Superman Returns is a piece of art, merchandise is not. Superman Returns cost $200 million to make, to be as good of quality as it could be. Merchandise is their to tap into the feelings of the consumer for said piece of art, aka Superman Returns.

Instead the fans were treated to 1, MAYBE 2 'decent' Superman figures out of what? 500?!?
Jesus Christ, either you are ******ed, or you have Juggernaut's helmet on...cause the concept simply isn't getting through your thick ass skull. 1 or 2 figures is ALL, if any, that should be dedicated to 'collectors' through a mass market toy campaign. You got Hyperposeable Superman and 30 inch Superman. The rest is aimed at the main consumer of toys, I.E. children.

Just because the toys off the movie aren't as important to you doesn't mean other people share your same stance.
The toys are important to me. Part of still collecting toys means you have to retain that child like vibrance for them. I can find joy in the Clark to Supes figure today, just like I would when I was 6 or 7. It's about the imagination. I'm not putting you down for being critical (that is fine)..but you exceed that. It goes to the point where you just keep repeating yourself, and you ***** and moan like a little school girl. Get over it. Get the Hyperposeable...or the Medicom figure etc. And stop raining on everyone elses parade.

On a sidenote..no one from Mattel is listening to you, and the BEGINS products actually did sell pretty well.
