The film definitely looks fun; I'm off to buy the new first volume tomorrow. Though, it's a shame the film's PG-13. A Vertigo adaptation that's not rated R should be a movie cardinal sin.

probably so kedrell plus the studio ie wb probably wants to get teens to go see the film since they are a big money maker demo and all that. Though like its been pointed out many times there is alot you can get away with in a pg 13 rating if they are going for a hard pg 13 rating stuff. Then who knows maybe they could have filmed a cut that is R rated/unrated material for video release.

I have a question: Why are they called the Losers? Do they just suck at what they do or what? C'mon, what's with the name? I only ask because probably the biggest turn-off in the film was when JDM's character actually called his team The Losers. Yeah, as if anyone would really ever do that. Must have loads of self-confidence problems. Please, someone who's actually read this stuff, please explain. And I know about it originally being a WWII comic. Did they name themselves that way in that comic as well?

Just speaking from a total non-fan of this comic book series standpoint, I'd have prefered them NOT to refer to themselves that way but as 'generic team XYZ' or whatever and then have the FILM show you WHY they are 'The Losers'.

THEN have these losers get some payback which is satisfying for the audience.

They're fugitives (no longer part of the gov't and now vigilantes/outlaws) out for revenge against their former employer, the mysterious gov't codename/CIA urban myth, "MAX." They lost their former lives because of him and they're all considered dead. So they have nothing else to lose. Thus, The Losers.

Also, It might have to do w/ what happened to them by the end of the last (32) issue of the series. Only Pooch and Jensen survived their suicide mission against MAX and Aisha wasn't confirmed if she is dead or alive/missing

I haven't read the books, but in everything I see about the books, there seems to be only 5 members, but the film seems to have 6. Was this character even in the books?

Upon America's entry into the European theater of the Second World War, a Special Forces group composed of personnel from all branches of the armed forces was formed. The members were Captain William Storm, a former PT Boat commander with a wooden leg and an eye-patch; Sarge Clay, one of the oldest serving Marines; Gunner Mackey, one of the youngest; and Johnny Cloud of the U.S. Army Air Force, known as "The Navajo Ace". Because each member had suffered the deaths of personnel under their command for which they felt responsible, they dubbed themselves The Losers.

Zoe Saldana is indeed mega-hot. She's gotta be the hottest actress in hollywood right now. The hell with Megan Fox. Zoe actually CAN act and isn't all tatted up like the graffitti'd underside of a freeway in downtown L.A. But even Zoe's hotness wasn't enough to fully sway me to seeing this movie. There's just way too many obvious action film cliche's here. I hope I'm wrong, I hope there's more going on and these are actually no even close to the best parts in the movie(that were in the trailer). I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one since I'm in love with Zoe and I think JDM's a really cool guy from whom I want to see more movies. So don't call me a hater. I don't WANT to hate this movie. I'm just worried is all and that probably has the most to do with the director. The guy from Stomp the Yard, really? Ugh!

Ok, still not really feeling ok with that explaination in the sense that it feels like it's a good idea that works, but whatever.

Then i recommend reading all 32 issues (or atleast the origin story ish#16-19). It is a good idea and it works brilliantly in the books. I just don't want to spoil too much for you, kedrell. Pretty complicated and lots of awesome twists of gov't conspiracies proportions. And they seldom call themselves The Losers anyway. Would love to hear what you think after reading. I just hope the film adaptation can follow suit and prove to be a great adaptation worthy of the series.

I have a feeling you may be right. I'm just not feeling this yet. Granted, I'm not feeling the A-team one either. Just looks pretty by-the-numbers to me. I'll wait till the reviews come in to decide whether I'll see it or not, which at least is more than I can say for the A-Team which I am definitely NOT going to bother seeing.

A new trade came out last wednesday which collects the first thirteen issues. I picked it up today, and for $20, it's not a bad deal at all. You should check out some of the other critically acclaimed Vertigo books.

Which is a load of BS. Watchmen being R-rated had nothing to do with it's underperformance. It got bad word of the mouth and people decided not to see it. The first weekend parents took their kids to see it because they thought it was gonna be your average superhero movie.

WB needs to grow a pair. 300 and Wanted were R-rated and they both did really well.

Definitely check out Walking Dead, too, the first volume's only $10.

I'd also reccommend checking out Y: The Last Man, Preacher, Unwritten, Transmetropolitan, Scalped, Fables, and DMZ.
