Growing up, I lived real close to a park. The park had a winding road that went through it and that was usually the road that I would drive on to get home. There was also a municipal golf course in the park and one of the biggest turns in the road was an almost 90 degree turn that went past the number 8 green of the golf course.
One night when I was in college, I was driving home really late. It was probably around 2am. As I came to the turn near the number 8 green, my headlights caught a woman standing on the other side of the guardrail facing the road. She was in a white dress and was staring at the road with a kind of blank expression. I drove past her and she just kept staring ahead creepily. She was completely still. As I drove off I looked back and she never moved.
At the time, I thought the whole thing was extremely odd. Where she was made no sense, as she would have been over three quarters of a mile either way from any neighborhood. And the park was not the safest place to be, especially at dark. There were several bodies found in the park over the years and it just wasn’t someplace that you’d take a walk at night. I also know that I hadn’t seen any cars in the golf course parking lot, because I worked my way through college at that course and by force of habit I’d always look to see if anyone was parked in the lot anytime I’d drive by. I’m sure that I probably would’ve done the same that night. The whole experience was really weird and just stuck with me.

Flash forward about 25 years later (a couple of years ago.) And I’m listening to a podcast about the park. There were a lot of details that I hadn’t heard of even though I grew up next to the park and spent my entire youth running around it. Because I grew up before the internet, it was just possible not to be in the know about everything back then. But I hear someone mention in the podcast that there were often sightings of two ghosts in the park. The first being a headless woman (I never saw that and I call baloney) and the other being a woman who was said to be seen by the 8 green.

So I am now convinced that what I saw that night was in fact a ghost.
