The Official Wildstorm Thread

Not sure if anyone brought this up or where to put it (I tried searching, delete if necessary). Anyway, unbelievable Wildcats is getting not only a second issue, but also a third in the span of one month, August and September. My chin dropped to the floor, this is incredible. Is anyone else totally stoked for this?

Wow, Maul looks more like the Hulk there than usual. Aside from that, I'm looking forward to the relaunch. The premise sounds promising and Gage does good work in the Wildstorm Universe.

I'm very much looking forward to this. I'm glad Gage is recasting the Wildcats as a more traditional superhero team, too. As much as I liked v3.0, it'll be nice to see Hadrian get back in the field and kick some ass.

Oh, and I moved the thread because Wildstorm falls under DC.

Didn't the Wildstorm universe like, end or something?

It's supposed to. Then a bunch of Wildstorm series get rebooted under the "World's End" banner and pick up in a post-apocalyptic Wildstorm universe.

Which is why we're getting a new Wildcats series, rejoice and be glad. I still wish we could've seen where the last series was heading.

I've heard that they might publish the rest of the Morrison/Lee series in an All-Star-esque format, but I doubt Morrison or Lee have really done that much stuff on it to begin with.

So what did everyone think of the first issue? I didn't follow the crossover that started this, but I loved this issue. Grifter was back in his glorious jackassfullness. Maul was written as a truly intelligent brawler, Majestic was a ****ing lunatic, and Grifter was Vice President of Halo. Rejoice my friends. We have our team again.

Nice to see Nemesis too.

I missed the first issue. My shop apparently didn't order it, which pisses me off. I need to put it on my pull list so they'll figure out that people actually still read Wildstorm s***.

Wildstorm publishing other stuff besides Wildcats? Could've fooled me. :p

I have to look into this. Interesting comic..

NYCC Wildstorm panel

So the Wildcats are basically splitting into factions around Majestic and Spartan. That should be kind of cool, even though I prefer Majestic as a hero. He's definitely morally ambiguous enough to go either way, though.

Can't wait for that Ladytron-centric issue. God, I love Maxine. :D

I don't know. I gave it a shot after that whole end of the world thing and it couldn't keep my interest at all. The only thing I want outta Wildstorm is for Ellis and Cassiday to stop dicking around and produce that last issue of Planetary.

Wildcats is almost as good as it was under Joe Casey, the Authority is good but not quite as high-brow, Welcome to Tranquility is the best damn superhero sitcom you could ever hope for, and Mysterius the Unfathomable's first issue was tons of fun.

The only thing I read from Wildstorm is Ex Machina, and I trade wait that. I'm also waiting for that last issue of Planetary. I hear Ellis turned in the script back in 2007.

You guys suck. At least pick up the trades for Welcome to Tranquility. It's easily the best superhero comic Wildstorm's published in the last 5 to 10 years or so.

I actually own the Welcome to Tranquility trades. That ended a while ago, didn't it?

You could say that. It was canceled but it never really ended in any meaningful sense. It just stopped and then had an Armageddon one-shot that didn't really have much to do with anything.

But Simone's coming back for a new mini-series (or ongoing--I'm not sure but I'm not getting my hopes up). Hopefully it'll be this year, according to the NYCC panel.
