Comics The Official X-Related Questions and Answers Thread

Hmm, I thought of a question. Was it ever explained why Scott and Alex went into foster care, following the plane crash that presumably killed their parents, considering they had grandparents? Its not like they were babies. They were old enough to know who they were. Why didnt they tell the police, hospital and social workers they came into contact that they had living relatives? I mean their grandparents were good people and would have taken them in. Am I missing something bc something doesnt add up

good question Havok...perhaps the writers and editors didn't think that by adding the grandparents into the equation that such questions would arise? or perhaps they were just too damn old to take care of small children? Or maybe they aren't as nice as they are portrayed and didn't want to be bothered with a new crop of brats and actually enjoy their adulthood and retirement?

"Oh, hell no. We finished this 'child rearing' crap when Christopher turned 18. The state can keep the little brats. We're too old for this ****."

haha, I guess that works. Either that or the convenient "we didnt think about retconning it in until later"

Sometimes, the social welfare system rearranges children to settle with other families if their relatives are too old or for other reasons considered incapable of taking care of the children. I suppose it can be this case with Scott and Alex when the accident happened, but I guess in comics they never really explained it, unless, Sinister had planned the whole, up to made sure Scott stayed in the orphanage and under his control.

Wasnt Scott unconsious for months after the plane crash. and Alex was say about 4, so he might not have known much.

So they just put them in foster care.

EDIT: 4yr olds know there own name. (hah wasnt thinking).

A 4 year old would be able to talk about his grandparents. Scott being unconcious following the crash doesnt explain why he didnt say anything once he woke up. Speaking of which, when did he and Alex ever reunite? When Alex firt shows up, its Scott attending his college graduation. When and how did they reconnect after they were seperated?

The professor tracked him down for Scott?Maybe Scott was talking about how Alex might be a colledge graduate by now if Alex was still with him...And when Scott woke up from his coma, I believe he'd be at least confused and terrified at the accident and the losing of both his parents and little brother to mind the details, and he was too small to argue with the decisions of social welfare system?

Nope, Alex's first issue was of him graduating from college. Scott took the rest of the X-men there to reveal a well kept secret that he had and Jean commented that she couldnt beleive that he never told any of them that he had a kid brother. The professor was "dead" by this point.

Can someone explain this picture? Its from X-man's 90s series. I didnt read it so dont know what is going on. Did they briefly give him the phoenix force? With Nate back and Phoenix making rounds, I wonder if he will tie in.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if Nate could manifest the Phoenix raptor. The power of the Phoenix Force works as a birthright thing. Rachel could access it because the Phoenix Force recognizes her as a descendant of Jean Grey. Rachel's boyfriend Korvus could access it because his grandfather Rook'shir was a host of the Phoenix Force. I think Maddie held onto a fraction of the Phoenix just because she was Jean's clone. Hell, Cable could probably do it if he really wanted to.

damn..Nate Grey is awesome...i would think that any offspring of the Phoenix would have some access to its power therefore be able to manifest its aura....what i don't like is that they are saying the only reason that Jean and Scott's kids are powerful is because of the fire-bird..not the fact that their mom is a tk/tp user and their dad is a powerful energy manipulator.

Well, Cable's never manifested the firebird, and he's insanely powerful whenever he has full access to his powers. Rachel's still pretty powerful whenever she doesn't have access to the Phoenix, too. Up until Rachel touched Korvus' Phoenix Blade, it was said that she didn't have access to the Phoenix Force after coming back from the future, but was just making the Phoenix appear over her eye 'just because.' During that time, she was creating black holes and ripping robot mechs to pieces.

Rachel and Nate aren't really Scott and Jean's kids, right?

And did AoA Jean have anything to do with Phoenix Force?

Nate isn't really Scott and Jean's son, no. He was made in a lab using genetic material from Jean and Scott. AoA Jean wasn't a Phoenix, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Phoenix Force was still drawn toward her a little.

Rachel Summers is Scott and Jean's daughter. She's just their daughter from an alternate universe. In Rachel's universe, Jean never became the Dark Phoenix (the Phoenix remained good, I think), but died at some point during or before the sentinels killed and rounded up all the mutants.

There was an AoA Phoenix. Jean seems to get connected to it in most timelines

I wonder how much of his DNA actually contributes to their power levels. All of the AR kids have Jean's power. She seems to have the dominant genes (no pun intended). I think his genes in combination are used to amplify hers bc they never seem to manifest

Well, that's certainly suggestive, lol! :funny: How many books were there in the "Search for Cyclops?"

It was a 4 issue limited series. It definetly had some intersting covers...lol

His eyes were a little creepy, like they belonged to a bug's.
