Just heard something about a suspension of the Spanish football season. Anyone else heard that?

yes read about it yesterday

Spanish domestic football to be suspended

The Spanish football federation says it is suspending indefinitely all end-of-season games in disputes with the government, including over TV rights.

A federation statement said it was also unhappy with receiving only 4.55% of pools revenue, though it said it was still open to dialogue.

All matches will be suspended from 16 May, including the domestic cup final.

In the top division, Barcelona lead La Liga rivals Real Madrid by two points, with only three games left to play.

In the statement, the RFEF federation said it had acted after three months of talks with the government had failed to resolve the dispute.

It said more than 600,000 players and 30,000 matches across the country would be affected by the suspension.

Wow that's crazy!

@ Hunter

I thought he had a excellent game, had a very near goal in the first half,River wont keep him for long.

Yeah I was watching a vid of him last night and read that Atletico Madrid and Man City are interested in him. He was described as a Mascherano type but he seems more like Xabi Alonso to me.

I'm hearing this comparison a lot lately, hoping he gets a spot in the squad during the upcoming Copa America at the end of the month

Just to clarify, the comparison to Mascherano or Alonso?

LVG confirms Carrick is out for the rest of the season. :csad:

The results show how much we miss him and why we need to buy right in the summer as regards midfield, last summer was only half the job in repairing an area of the team Fergie let waste away in his latter years.

Just to clarify, the comparison to Mascherano or Alonso.

Sorry Mascherano, apparently there were scouts from Atletico Madrid at the game last night watching him as well as Emanuel Mammals.

Ah I see. Mammais is a young CB, right?

It's a weird feeling, but I feel done with football for this season. I know there's a few games left, but after seeing Chelsea playing their anti-football to secure the title, and after seeing Man United play as naive as 15 year olds, I don't feel any excitement in what's left, and I probably won't see any more games. I'm gonna assume that MU messes up and that Liverpool catches up, but either way, the 4th spot is disappointing IMO. We could easily have gotten third, but LVG still shows tactical errors that he should have learned from 6 months ago, and it's frustrating.

Going through the CL qualifying games at the start of the season VS not participating at all feels like a loss/loss

It seems it's the players who are striking. They want a centralised tv deal. But they want a cut of the money. They are also pissed that the spanish government wants them to pay more tax.
Somehow i can't see them getting much sympathy from the spanish people.

Sunderland 1-0 up with 8 mins to go. This result really would make things interesting at the bottom. If Toon don't win today at home to West Brom the danger will be suddenly huge! :woot:

2-0 now!! Defoe.

And now Leicester get an early goal. One goal from Hull against Burnley and the Toon will be in the bottom 3!

It's happening!!! Leicester 2-0 up now and the Toon losing at home to West Brom. As it stands they are now in the bottom 3!

Newcastle are in the bottom 3! The silver lining is Ashley will splash the cash to get 'em promoted again.

I really want them to go down as this time it's going to be hard to get a good manager in. This proves you can't just choose to coast. Once the rot sets in it's hard to turn things around and the momentum can take a big team down against smaller guys who are used to fighting for their lives rather than winding down for their holidays.

Spurs down to 10 and they were already 2-0 down to Stoke.

Massive summer coming up for Spurs, they need to try and recoup some of the money wasted on Soldado and Lamela whilst trying to hold on to Lloris etc.
