Alisher Usmanov makes $1.3bn bid to take control of Arsenal FC

Mr Usmanov, a metals magnate who owns 30 per cent of the English Premier League club, conveyed the offer in a letter to Stan Kroenke, the US sports mogul who controls a 67 per cent stake.

The approach, made last month, valued the club at $2bn. Mr Kroenke has yet to formally respond. He is understood not to have dismissed the idea out of hand at first. However, he has since informally indicated he is not interested in selling to Mr Usmanov or anyone else.

“Two weeks ago, I thought something could realistically happen. Now I am not so sure,” a person close to the situation said.

The approach reignites the bitter feud between the two men over the direction of the club. Neither Arsenal nor the Kroenke Group responded to requests for comment. Red & White, Mr Usmanov’s investment vehicle, declined to comment.

Guradian saying kronke has turned it down.

That's not exactly what Gunners would want to hear. It would seem Kroenke is bad for the club but also quite uninterested in letting someone else attempt to take it in a better direction. I don't know much about Usmanov though, maybe he'd be worse.

Gonna be an exciting last day of the season. No promotion or relegation but at least top 4 is still up for grabs!

England beats Argentina 3-0, Argentina's performance showing why they barely qualified for the tournament.

Do England have a good U20 squad?

Yeah I thought they were very clinical in their performance.

Are there many well known players or up and coming guys I wouldn't have heard of?

Yep even better! Is that the first time that's happened?

Wow didnt realize the CL final was so late this year, this season seems to have gone on forever. Ah well at least thats two weekends for something to look forward to.

United' line up today over half youth:

Pereira, Fosu-Mensah, Bailly, Jones, Mitchell, McTominay, Tuanzebe, Pogba, Lingard, Rooney, Harrop.

I can only imagine it's going to be a terrible performance.

All those youngsters starting gives me hope, tbh. Which is rather reflective of the nature of our league performances this season.

It's a strong Palace side but we'll have to see, Fosu-Mensah and Tuanzebe definitely seem like they can hold their own in the league.

This gives us a pretty clear indication of the starting lineup for Wednesday at least, Smalling-Blind at CB would appear to be the likeliest.

And one of the kids gets a goal, 1-0 United. Quality assist by Pogba there.

Koscielny off for Arsenal after a badly mistimed and dangerous slide tackle.

ARsenal and City are a goal up and Liverpool yet to score.

And now Pogba on the score sheet as well, 2-0, deserves that.

Boro could've arguably had a penalty after Lovren bungled over the striker.

The margins are so small in games like this. One sending off or bit of luck can change it all when the pressure is on. Liverpool seem reasonably calm now but that might change it Boro score or if they fail to score early in the 2nd half (and if Arsenal manage to stay ahead.

Wijnaldum just calmed everyone's nerves with a good goal from close range, but it will be interesting to see if they push on in the second half or sit back and protect the lead.
