Horror The Original Monster: Ed Gein | Netflix/Ryan Murphy/Charlie Hunnam

Watching it right now. :D

I just finished the fifth episode. I need a break for a minute.

This show is well produced, well acted, but it's disturbing on every level. This demon was so calculating and destroyed these men and boys. I'm still amazed by how racist, homophobic and flippant those damn cops were.

But yeah, Evan Peters is playing this role a little too well.

I'm a serial killer junkie so I know the history well. I was shocked by the cops' behavior when I first heard about it. I don't think they ever got in trouble for it either.

Same! But I’m not surprised at all about the cops. Dahmer was a white man who lived in the hood and was (diabolically) smart enough to pick the right targets. He had to know the cops wouldn’t give a damn about black people/other POC being picked off.

It was all so sad and could’ve been prevented.

I want to binge this at work... is their nudity, if so - I'll wait to do it at home.

Had a co-worker walk up on me watching the Woodstock '99 doc and that was awkward.

Yeah there is nudity early on, very NSFW.

Also a big serial killer junkie here.

The show is mostly very accurate to the real events, but doesn't really offer much that we haven't seen or heard other than a greater focus on his parents.

I think that just shows what great care the writers took. Casting Jenkins as Dahmer's dad was perfect, he looks just like the guy. :) I'm just sorry I don't have the time to binge this outright.

I’ve only seen the first episode so far, but Evan Peters was pretty good casting. He’s so creepy in this

I finally mustered up the strength to finish it.

The scenes with the 14 YO Asian kid's family dealing with the aftermath of his murder really hit me, I teared up in all of their family scenes. Niecy Nash also held her own in the last half and I loved seeing Karen Malina White again. And God forgive me, but Christopher Scarver did the whole world a favor by getting rid of that demon.

All in all though, a really well crafted production. Evan Peters definitely deserves that second Emmy next year.

Evan Peters and Niecy Nash deserve a whole lot of recognition at the Emmy's for this, because their performances in this are flat out amazing and its easily some of the best acting, I have seen all year.

I loved this, but its an insanely brutal and hard watch, especially the second half and if you've seen episode 6 you will know what I'm talking about because that episode absolutely gutted me. I teared up multiple times and the music and atmosphere in this show is absolutely stellar as well.

I'm on episode 8 right now with the trial. It's all very well done and emotionally well played. There hasn't been a single dull episode or filler. This has been a quality series through and through.

I just finished watching it. I thought it was excellent.

I've always been interested in real life serial killers. I find their stories fascinating. Dahmer was one of the worst. This series was on the whole a very accurate look at his story. I love how it explored many angles to it besides him. His family (particularly his father), the families of the victims, his neighbor etc. So many people were affected by what he did. It showed it in detail. As it should because often the monstrosity of the killer overshadows the repercussions of what they did.

It was a horrible tragedy what happened to the victims, the 14 year old ones were particularly hard to watch. But the episode that hit me the hardest was the one that focused on Tony Hughes the deaf mute victim. He was such a sweet, loving, happy go lucky guy. The way Dahmer manipulated him, pulled him in.......it was tough to watch.

Great performances all around. Peters deserves an Emmy. So do the actors who played Dahmer's father and black neighbor. It was also good to see Molly Ringwald and Penelope Ann Miller.

It would be great if they did more series like this on other serial killers. Not just the most notorious ones but some of the more lesser infamous ones too.

Yeah, I liked how there was a lot of focus on his victims and the impact on the families. You don't get as much of that in the documentaries. It was well rounded and not just gratuitous mayhem. I liked the prison scenes as well. I liked this better than the Versace series Ryan did though that was good as well.

In reality, Glenda Cleveland actually lived in the next building over from Dahmer. She did witness the Konerak Sinthasomphone incident in the street and called the cops, who did bring the boy back to Dahmer as in the show. But she did not live next door to Dahmer or call the cops repeatedly about smells and sounds.

It seems like the show merged Glenda Cleveland with Dahmer's real next door neighbor, Pamela Bass. However, I believe Bass and Dahmer actually got along and she said he was a good and helpful neighbor.

The show definitely added drama and suspense where it could.

I do recall seeing interviews with a Black lady who did have a closeness with Dahmer. I assume that was Pamela. She did mention the smells but didn't seem to complain about them.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that Pamela woman said in a news article that she used to eat from Dahmer also. Probably where that sandwich scene came from.
