Ehh. . . the Penguin is *not* smarter than Batman. He likely thinks of himself as such, sometimes, but this is mainly an artifact of his ego. If anything, I'd say the Penguin is defined by being a petty, cowardly bully, who is very adept at being the biggest fish he can in a comfortably small pond.

Which is to say, he works best when he is not actually much threat to Batman in his own right, and folds once serious pressure is brought to bear, but makes things worse for everyone before that happens. He's a second rate Kingpin, who is nonetheless pretty good at being a second rate Kingpin. And any resentment for this status he feels, he takes out on those weaker than him.

I'm actually pretty willing to believe this Josh Gad thing. He just posted a pic of Penguin on twitter, and Johns and Berg are following him. It all adds up

Since when did Matt Reeves indicate Penguin was going to be the villain? He hasn't said as much or even hinted at it- like every other thread, it's all speculation.

And it's probably for Gotham City Sirens and not The Batman. Matt Reeves is still doing War of The Planet of The Apes. I doubt he started casting The Batman yet.

I like Josh Gad and all but as Penguin? Maybe he can be good, but he's definitely not who I would've went with for the role. Kind of hoping this doesn't end up being the case.

You're getting Deathstroke for a new villain. The classics deserve to be brought back, especially ones that have not been done in over 20 years, and have lots of room for improvement on their last outing like Penguin.

Yeah, DeVito's performance was excellent for whatever it was, but it was nothing like The Penguin.

Um, Penguin is long overdue for a proper adaptation. And considering he's one of Batman's oldest villains, yeah, I'd say a Batman fan would use him.

Penguin is one of the characters I want to see the most in the DCEU.

I think Sirens would be the perfect place for him to pop up. Gad has the look for sure.

I wouldn't say he's bad in general, he's just a bad pick for Penguin & I couldn't see myself ever 100% buying into him in the role. Would be a huge miscast, imo.
